Chapter 80

Book:The Alpha King's Hybrid Mate Published:2025-3-11

“What do you think of what the moon priestess said? Her words somehow scare me?” Sara uttered as she laid on Killian’s arm, gazing at the full moon, and the shining little stars.
Killian tilted his head sideways, his lower lip curled up as a smile crept on his lips.
“I feel like she just said that to intimidate you, she was probably joking.” Killian replied to her. Sara snorted, her brows furrowed in confusion while she pouted her lips.
“It doesn’t feel like that. She seemed so serious when she delivered the message, and something tells me that it’s important I listen to her.” She sighed. Killian gently sat up, pulled Sara into his embrace while he slowly rubbed her hair.
“Don’t be afraid. I am here. I failed to protect you the last time, I assure you that nothing will happen to you again.” Killian assured her with a soft, yet firm voice. He slowly dragged his hand down her head and rested it on her belly.
“Our…our child. How’s it?” Killian stuttered, his head hitting hard as he dreaded a negative answer. Seeing what Sara had passed through in the past months, he couldn’t help but wonder if the baby was still safe.
“I guess our baby is lucky, and protected by the heavens. I can still feel it kicking in my belly.” Sara smiled. Killian suddenly opened his mouth widely before abruptly shutting it. He wrapped his palm tightly around his mouth, preventing himself from screaming out.
He gave her a warm hug, glancing at the sky as a wave of joy swept across his mind.
The noises from the unmated wolves getting their mates intensified, happy cheering erupted into the air as all the matured unmated wolves were each ascribed a mate.
“Killian, look, it’s a shooting star!” Sara giggled as a star dashed across the sky.
Killian threw a sharp glance at the sky, before resting his eyes on Sara’s face.
“All I see is something more beautiful.” Killian mumbled, smiling widely into Sara’s face.
Sara’s eyes darted sideways, her face turned red and she blushed.
“Was that supposed to be me?” Sara asked him, covering her face with her palm.
Killian pulled her hands away, gently pushed her on the grass and climbed on her.
“Killian, what…are you doing?” Asked Sara as she flung her eyes away, trying hard not to stare into his captivating eyes.
“What does it look like?” He replied, swept her hair to the side, and gave her a long kiss.
The kiss was sweet, romantic and fascinating, that Sara never wanted it to end. Even when Killian wanted to move away, she wrapped her hands around his waist, and locked him in.
“My lady…” Violet rushed in on them, causing the two to disconnect as if a bowl of hot water had just been poured on them. Violet hurriedly turned around, covering her eyes with her arm.
“I am sorry, I didn’t know you guys were…”
“Hmm hmmm…” Killian cleared his throat, while Sara laughed. Violet turned to face them and blinked at Sara. She placed the jug of wine and presented them with a cup each.
“From the moon priestess. This is the Chariot’s wine.” Violet said as she poured them the wine.
It had become a tradition for the Alpha and Luna to drink the Chariot’s wine at every full moon.
They both drank the wine and it indeed lived up to his name. The wine has a soft feel, not too sweet, not bitter, the taste was just as perfect! Its fresh aroma lingers in their nostrils even minutes after drinking it, and it has a savory aftertaste that would make you crave for more of it.
“It’s such a great wine. Just that no one knows why it’s named Chariot.” Killian commented, shrugging his shoulders in the process.
Sara wimped and faced Violet.
“Violet, you’ve not told me about what happened to you? How did you survive? Jared clearly stabbed you right in front of me.” Sara uttered, leaning her head forward as she curiously awaited Violet’s explanation.
Violet smiled and sat beside Sara;
“Heaven was probably touched by my sincerity and gave me a second chance at life. I still had a breath in me when the soldiers threw me out. Luckily, I was saved by a lady.” Violet explained to her, and Sara hurriedly grabbed her hand;
“Where’s the lady? We should reward her handsomely for that. Or what do you think, Killian?” Sara suggested, darting her eyeballs in between the two of them.
“Sure. I agree with you. Please bring her to the pack, Violet. I will reward her for her great help.” Killian replied while Sara smiled widely.
Suddenly, a red bracelet on Violet’s wrist made a flash, and Violet hurriedly got up.
“She is the one, this is our method of communicating, she probably wants to see me.” Violet chuckled happily.
Sara smiled and gave her the permission to leave.
“I will bring her to you.” Violet screamed as she raced down the passageway.
She followed the direction of the light on the bracelet and she was soon in the woods. Though it’s quite late, the full moon was a useful source of light and it came in handy.
Walking a few more metres, a lady fully cladded in black stood beside a tree. Violet walked towards her, and happily hugged her from behind, but a sharp grip on her hand made her squeal in pain.
“Betty…why??” She asked as she struggled to free herself from her grip.
Betty smiled, dipped her hand into her pocket and forced something down Violet’s throat.
Violet coughed so hard as the object traveled down her throat.
“I have just fed you the Viper’s throng, a deadly poison. I have taken care of you all this while, it’s time to make use of you.” Betty smirked as she pushed Violet to the floor. She crossed her palms on her abdomen and walked around Violet who groaned in pain.
“The poison is very potent, the pain is more excruciating than breaking three thousand bones at a time. Trust me, it’s also more painful than inserting an extremely hot metal into someone’s belly. What then happens to someone who doesn’t have the antidote?” She mocked, bent down beside Violet while another smirk formed on her lips.
“If the antidote is not taken every two weeks, the victim will suffer an immense pain before dying a painful death. So it seems you don’t have much of a choice right now.” She said, running her claws across Violet’s face. She removed a bottle from her pocket and placed it right before Violet’s eyes.
“To get the antidote is simple, you just need to perform a simple task…”
“Give Killian a slow, painful death.”
