Ian’s POV:
“Alpha, what the hell was that?” Logan asked seriously in my office.
“What?” I asked reluctantly.
I couldn’t believe he had the guts to mind-link me and Amelia to come into my office when he knew it was late and that we were resting.
“That thing you brought into our pack,” he answered.
“Logan, that’s not a thing, you know, right? It’s him, and he is Roxanne’s mate,” I responded seriously.
“I’m sorry, son, but I too would like to know why you have allowed him into our pack. Did you not sense that he is a vampire? Logan and I were shocked when we saw him carrying Roxanne,” my mother said at the top of her voice.
“I know what he is, and he is not just a vampire. He is actually a hybrid. Half lycan and half vampire,” I answered as her expression instantly turned cold.
“What!” Logan exclaimed.
“You heard him, Logan. Garren is a hybrid who will be staying with us for the time being. He is also Roxanne’s mate, so we expect your total respect towards him,” Amelia answered strongly.
He sighed softly, then nodded and bared his neck.
“I understand, Alpha Queen,” he whispered.
“Now that we are clear, there is something I want you to know and relay to the rest,” I said when he looked up.
“Mother, please take a seat,” I instructed.
She moved and sat down on the couch with a frown.
“Garren was the one who kidnapped Roxanne,” I said as Logan clenched his hands into fists.
“We heard that already. That’s why we were so fucking shocked over you overlooking that. Is it because he is her mate?” he asked in a low tone.
“No. It’s because he was under the coven’s rule. Remember that time we went to help Felix out by killing her parents at the coven?” I asked.
“Yes,” he answered, together with my mother.
“The fire which was lit killed Garren’s parents, who were part of the coven elders,” I said as Logan burst out in laughter.
“That’s impossible. That fire was building up slowly. If his parents were part of the elders, then that means they had twice enhanced abilities than a regular vampire. They couldn’t just burn like that,” he answered.
“Exactly my point, but he was so convinced that they died in the fire we started. For years, he wanted me dead because of that, not knowing that the coven was behind the murder. He kidnapped Roxanne because he knew I would follow her. His plan was to hand the others to the coven while he dealt with me to his heart’s content. Him being mated to Roxanne was out of his hands and plan. He became so drawn to her to the point of failing to do anything when we approached him,” I said and noticed how surprised he looked by the story.
“We told him how the coven was behind it all, and he looked very confused. I would have let him go alone to confront them or destroy them, but at the same time, I couldn’t let him die or be badly injured on that side because of Roxanne. She couldn’t sit by and let it happen, we all know that. She’s in love with him, and by her actions, I could tell how willing she is to die by his side. If I want to keep my little girl safe, I need to keep Garren safe too. That’s why I invited him to come and stay with us,” I said honestly.
“Son, are you saying what I think you’re saying?” My mother asked with emphasis.
“Yes, mother, I am. I will ambush the coven and kill them all,” I answered as she furiously stood up.
“Ian, how dare you put your warriors in danger because of that hybrid!” She exclaimed.
“No, mother, I’m not going to do that because my warriors won’t be going with me,” I answered as she looked at Amelia, then back at me with widened eyes.
“Then who are you going with?” Logan asked.
“You, Blade, Neo, Amelia, Felix, Whitney, Leo, Lee, Chase, the twins, August, Roxanne, Kyle, and Garren. Together, we are way stronger than thousands of warriors. Don’t you agree?” I asked with a raised brow.
“Alpha, do you mean to say we are going to that side to help the hybrid?” He asked stupidly.
“No, Logan, we are going to that side for the sake of my daughter’s life as well as our own. If we don’t do anything, they won’t stop sending people to kill us because what they want is not only me But whoever stepped foot in the coven to light up the fire and kill Felix’s parents, they will try their best to get to any of my children or my woman because that is my weakness. So before they have an upper hand, I will,” I answered.
He kept quiet, then sighed heavily and moved to take a seat.
“Do you now understand, mother?” I asked.
She looked at Amelia sadly, then nodded.
“I can see that you have already made up your mind, but what happens if you fall into a trap? What if that’s what they wanted you to do? What if they predicted you would go there?” she asked.
“Then so be it. I know they have a strong witch working for them on that side, but we too have a warlock who, if his power is combined with a fairy, becomes stronger. Mother, we can’t delay the inevitable. We have to either kill them or let them kill us,” I answered.
“Amelia, are you agreeing with my son’s ridiculous decision?” she asked in a concerned tone.
“Yes, I do, Mother. We can’t delay any longer. We need to take them down before they do something to our pack or family,” she answered, then pressed her hand on my shoulder.
I grabbed her by the waist and made her sit on my lap.
“I told you this because I want you to be part of our plan. Oh, and Mother, when we are gone, you will be in charge of this pack until our return. Also, inform Blade’s daughter about what’s going on. I think it’s time for her to return and leave human territory behind. This pack is her home, and she is blessed with the gift of healing. As a healer, she should be here on the very day we depart to see her Alpha and Luna off,” I said seriously.
“Fine, I’ll do that,” she answered softly and then walked to the door and touched the handle.
“Is there anything else, son?” she asked.
“Yes, tomorrow morning, please ask Roxanne and Garren to meet me in my office. Also, make a call to Lexi and see if she can lend us her help on that day. Try to fill her in on what happened. Make sure to tell her every little detail because I have a feeling Whitney would hide it from her,” I answered.
She opened the door and walked out with a loud sigh.
“Logan, I suggest you start mentally preparing yourself for death. Also, inform your mate about everything that’s happening,” I said.
He nodded, then walked out of the office.
“Was that necessary, Ian? Telling him to prepare mentally for death is a little too much,” Amelia complained.
“It isn’t because we may or may not make it out alive,” I answered and meant my words.
