Felix’s POV:
“Why the fuck are you standing in my way?” I asked furiously.
“Because you might end up hurting the boy when you confront him,” Chase answered seriously.
I glared at him, then took a step back.
“Then at least let me see my baby girl!” I screamed at the top of my voice.
“No,” Lee answered as I hit the damn shield that was in front of me to break it.
How could they trap me like this just because it was Ian’s pack! Did they think it was okay to treat me like a damn criminal?
“I left that stupid boy alone the first time he made my only child cry, but this time it’s unforgivable. Family or not, I’m going to wipe him off the face of the earth. Do you all fucking understand?” I asked seriously, then moved back and ran forward, hitting the shield which still stood unbroken.
“You will hate yourself, Samantha,” Lee said as I ignored him and took a few steps back.
“I don’t need your sympathy,” I hissed, then quickly moved forward, extending my hand to Tamara when she walked in.
She looked like a total mess and it made my heart ache badly. Tears instantly filled my eyes.
This was the second time I had seen her cry so much since she was a child. Chase and I adored her above anyone, and we made sure to only give her pleasant memories throughout her life that we both didn’t have in our childhood. We thought it would always be like that, but it all got shattered in just a few weeks by a bastard who didn’t deserve her hand.
“Honey, talk to me. Did he reject you? If he did, I swear on my life that I am going to…”
“Stop it!” she screamed at the top of her voice, cutting me off and leaving me stunned.
This was the first time she had raised her voice with me. She was my baby, my little Cinderella who always confided in me. She had never yelled at me before.
“Baby girl, I’m only doing this for you,” I whined.
“No, mother, as it is, you are making it very hard for me. He doesn’t want me. Why can’t you just accept it and let it go?” she asked loudly, tears continuing to roll down her cheeks.
“Because you are my baby, and I’m trying to protect you. You might not understand this now, but a mother would do everything she can to make sure her child is happy,” I answered softly, then looked at Chase as a tear rolled down my cheek.
He slowly moved and grabbed her hand in his.
“Hey,” he whispered when she turned and faced him.
“Father, please help me,” she whispered back, tears trailing down her cheeks.
“Of course, princess. I’ll listen to any of your requests,” Chase answered softly.
She looked at me sadly, then back at him.
“I want to go far away. I don’t want to be here anymore because I will die in pain,” she cried.
“No, honey, it hasn’t come to that, has it?” I asked in a cracked voice.
“I want to go,” she cried at the top of her voice as Chase embraced her.
“Lee, please,” I pleaded for him to drop the shield.
He nodded and raised his hand as the shield disappeared.
I quickly rushed to her side and pulled her into my arms.
“Princess, I’m so sorry for everything that’s happening to you,” I whispered as tears continued to run down my cheeks.
“Felix,” Chase called sadly.
I knew what he was asking of me, but how could I possibly let go of my only child?
When she pulled back and looked at me, I flinched. Her beautiful grey eyes were a bright shade of red.
She was very angry, and her aura was so strong that it made me uneasy.
“Mother, promise me one thing,” she said seriously.
“Anything,” I answered quickly.
“Promise me that no matter what happens, you won’t hurt Larson,” she said as I furiously shook my head.
I wasn’t just going to hurt the boy; I was going to torture him to death.
“Because if you do anything bad to him or make him sad, you will end up losing me,” she warned as I widened my eyes in disbelief.
Was she threatening me with her life?
“Are you saying…”
“Yes, mother. If you do anything to him, I will drive a sharp stake right through my heart,” she answered seriously.
I looked at Chase, who had a very sad expression on his face, then back at her.
“So please promise me,” she said huskily.
I was beyond furious, but losing her was my greatest fear. Through her tone, I could tell she wasn’t bluffing, and sadly, there was nothing I could do about it.
I swallowed hard and forced a smile on my face.
“I promise,” I answered.
“Thank you,” she whispered, then wiped away her tears.
“Tamara, if you want, I can wipe away your bad memories. I rarely use my magic because I have always wanted to live a normal human life. But if it can help you in any way, then I’m more than happy to assist,” Chase said seriously.
She shook her head, then brushed her hair back.
“No, Father. I want to learn to live with this pain. All I want you to do is send me away,” she answered.
Lee moved closer and stood beside us.
“I know it might sound crazy, but why don’t we ask Sherry to take her in?” he asked as I glared at him.
“Are you out of your fucking mind?” I asked at the top of my voice.
“Look, Samantha, Sherry and Alpha Damon have their own kids who are around Tamara’s age. If she stays with them, she won’t be bored, and she will forget Larson in no time, which is a good thing, don’t you think? Larson doesn’t know where the pack is, and that pack is more of a sanctuary that takes in most supernatural beings who seek shelter. If you talk to her and explain everything, I think she might help you,” he said.
“Never!” I hissed.
“I think that’s a great idea,” Chase answered as I looked at him in shock.
How could he be willing to send our little girl to that wolf den?
“Tamara isn’t that little anymore, and she can’t stay here if this place will only bring her pain. The more she stays here, the more her heart will break,” he said, then looked at Lee.
“Those are exactly my thoughts,” Lee backed him up.
“Sherry has experience on how to handle rejection, and she might be of great help to her. And yes, that place might be a wolf den, but our daughter is a strong vampire who I believe, with time, will be able to protect herself. If we want what’s best for our daughter, then we need to think of what makes her happy,” he said.
“Then it’s decided. I will go with Tamara there using a portal, while you will call and inform Sherry about everything,” Lee said simply.
I looked at Tamara sadly, then sighed heavily in defeat.
“Princess, is this what you truly want? That place may be hard on you, and you might feel so lonely,” I said softly, concerned.
“I know, Mother, but that’s exactly what I want,” she answered.
“Fine,” I whispered, then looked at Chase.
“What if Sherry refuses to take her in?” I asked seriously.
“That’s impossible,” Lee answered, then moved to the wall and whispered something while moving his hand.
“If you want to return home, just don’t hesitate to call me or your father. You know our cell phone numbers by heart, right?” I asked, then looked at the portal that was appearing on the wall.
“Yes, mother,” she answered.
I brushed my hand through her hair, then dropped it.
“Won’t you say goodbye to everyone?” I asked softly.
She shook her head and took a step back.
“Thank you for accepting my selfish request, mother and father. As time goes on, I’ll call and write to you if they do accept me on that side. Just never visit me until I am ready to face you again,” she said, then turned and walked to where Lee was standing.
She glanced behind to look at us once more before walking into the portal with him.
When the portal closed, I weakly fell to the ground in tears as Chase knelt down and embraced me.
It was hard for me because I felt like my heart was being ripped in two, and there was nothing I could do to make it better.
