Alec’s POV:
“Hello, Olivia,” I greeted my mate with a smile across my face as my mind wandered off to when I had left her at the beach.
(A few hours ago)
“What’s wrong with you?” Debby asked seriously in the living room of the beach house.
“Nothing,” I answered and then walked to the balcony.
It was night, and yet I wasn’t willing to go back to the pack.
Debby asked me a few times if I was going, yet I couldn’t seem to give her a clear response.
I looked at the bright moon, then sighed heavily as what had happened played into my mind. I felt so horrible, and my wolf was silent since then because he had no idea what to say to comfort the both of us.
“Seriously, Alec, what is the problem? By now you should have gone back,” she asked loudly.
I turned and looked at her coldly.
“My mate….” I trailed off then finished the sentence.
“That human we met at the beach,” I said as she kept quiet for a few minutes.
“You are joking, right?” She asked at the top of her voice as she approached me.
“No, I’m not. Do you think I could joke over such a thing!” I yelled at the top of my voice.
“If you aren’t, then why the hell did you not claim her?” She asked in nearly a scream.
I bit my tongue then turned to look at the moon again.
“Because she has a child and is probably married,” I answered.
“So what!” She exclaimed.
“What would you have me do?” I asked without looking at her.
“Claim her, Alec! We aren’t humans but werewolves. If the moon goddess is kind enough to grant her to you, then why not take her with you? Kidnap her for all I care. With time, she would have Stockholm syndrome because of the mate pull. Yes, she would be upset, but she would understand with time,” she answered.
She was crazy and insane to think of that!
If you adore someone or care for them in any way, hurting them would be the last thing you would want to do.
“You know what? I won’t sit here and listen to your crazy talk,” I said, then turned and walked past her.
“Come on, Alec. You only get a few chances to be with the one you are destined for, so why not take this chance?” she asked loudly as I walked into the cellar to grab a bottle of wine or whiskey.
“Hey, stop ignoring me!” she screamed when she stood at the door.
I walked to the shelves, carefully looking at the bottles of wine. When a bottle of whiskey came into view, I smiled and quickly rushed to grab it.
“Fine, then tell me something. When are you planning to leave?” she asked.
I walked to where she was standing and stood in front of her.
“Tomorrow,” I answered, then walked past her.
I understood what she was saying, but I wasn’t going to take advantage of the fact that I wasn’t human.
“Is it because she is human? If she were a she-wolf, would you have let her be?” she asked as she followed me outside the beach house.
“Please stop pestering me, Debby,” I answered seriously, then opened the front door to my car.
“Now you’re running away,” she said loudly after I had gotten in.
“Whatever,” I spat, then put the whiskey onto the next seat and shut the door.
I pulled the car keys out of my pocket and started the car while I watched as she walked back into the house.
As I drove off to the beach, her words were going through my mind.
Would she ever forgive me if I were to kidnap her and separate her from her family?
My heart began to ache at that thought, and that forced me to speed up my car, not minding the consequences I would be in if I crashed.
Once I was at the beach, I parked the car and came out with the whiskey bottle.
As I walked ahead, I opened the bottle and drank from it.
“Pathetic,” I muttered to myself, then stood still and began drinking rapidly, ignoring the burning sensation in my throat.
This was the last time I was going to ever see my mate. Would I easily move on? No, it was going to be so hard for me to do.
“Mate,” my wolf yelped happily as I laughed at him.
“You need to get over it soon because she will never be with us,” I said, then frowned when her beautiful scent hit my nose.
I quickly turned and looked at her as she knelt on the sand.
“She is really here!” My wolf purred happily.
“Yes,” I silently answered in disbelief, then quickly went to her side, standing in front.
She looked up, then slowly got to her feet.
(Present time)
Now that I was looking at her clearly, I felt so at ease and at peace while my wolf couldn’t stop purring happily.
She looked even more beautiful than she did back then with her hair let down.
“What are you doing here?” I asked softly.
She raised her hand and touched my cheek, as if to confirm if I was real or not, as tingles spread throughout my body.
“Ah, thank God,” she whispered, and then dropped her hand with a smile.
“What?” I asked, seriously.
“Nothing,” she answered, then tucked her hair behind her ear.
I took a sip from my bottle, then extended it to her.
“Do you want to take a sip?” I asked.
“Oh no, I don’t drink,” she answered, as I smiled wider.
“Good for you,” I said, then walked to where my car was, as she followed behind.
“Why is she following us?” I asked my wolf, seriously.
When he couldn’t respond, I stopped walking and turned to look at her. He wanted us to take advantage of the situation by being vulnerable to our mate, while I didn’t.
“Why are you following me?” I asked.
“Oh, I’m sorry,” she whispered, and then took a few steps back.
“Do you want me to buy you a ball, or do you have something to say to me? Perhaps you are looking for someone here?” I asked, seriously.
“Um, where do you stay?” she asked, surprising me.
“Are you ignoring my questions?” I asked, trying not to give in to the mate pull, because I was dying to pull her into my arms and kidnap her.
“I’m not, it’s just that I want to know where you stay,” she answered.
I sadly threw the whiskey bottle away, then brushed my hand through my hair.
“Olivia, look, I really don’t know what you are doing here, but it’s not really safe for a woman to be here at night,” I said.
“Just answer me!” she screamed, startling me.
“I’m not a part of this country, and tomorrow I’ll be returning back home,” I answered seriously.
She laughed crazily for a minute, then stopped and looked at me as tears filled her eyes.
“Are you okay?” I asked in concern.
“No, I’m not!” she screamed hysterically.
“Do I fucking look okay?” she asked angrily.
Before I could answer, she went on to say more words.
“Since meeting you today, all I could think about is you. I am never like this, and this is driving me crazy. At first, I thought it was because you cried in front of me, but no, it wasn’t. The more I think about you having a wife, the more I become jealous. I even wish I was the one in her place. I am struggling so much because of you, and I don’t even know if I’m going insane or just being obsessed!” she screamed as tears ran down her cheeks.
I was so shocked by her confession because there was never a day I had heard of a human being this affected by the mate pull.
“Olivia, you are a mother, and I’m sure you have a husband,” I whispered with a heavy heart.
“I know that, okay! But what the fuck am I supposed to do when all I could think about is you? I can’t cook food without messing up, and I can’t even serve the food without shattering what I am carrying. I’m barefoot, for crying out loud!” she cried loudly.
“Do something,” my wolf growled at me angrily. He hated that our mate was crying, as she looked so vulnerable in front of us.
“Do you want to be with me?” I asked in a low tone as she instantly stopped crying.
Her face became pale as she looked at me with a terrified expression.
“I… I can’t,” she answered in a whisper.
“See, there is nothing I can do about it, no matter how you feel about me or how attracted I am to you,” I said sadly, then turned and moved to where the car was, opening the door.
“If I leave Micah behind, my conscience would haunt me for life, and I would never forgive myself,” she said in a cracked voice.
“Then stay,” I answered and got into the car.
“If I can find a way to make Micah hate Jay, then I would willingly go. If I can find a way to make Micah hate Jay, then I would willingly go with you,” she said as I frowned.
“And why would you be willing to give up on your husband? Don’t you love him?” I asked, seriously.
“Jay is not my husband,” she answered, shocking me.
I slowly got out of the car and walked towards her.
“What?” I asked, my tone serious.
“I said he is not my husband,” she replied, sniffling.
What on earth was going on with her? Was she now lying just to be with me?
