Damon’s POV:
I stood at the pack’s border, looking at the alpha who was approaching us. He had a tall, huge man with him on his left side, who I could tell was a beta, and on his right was a slim, tall guy with a small scar on his chin, who was Gamma. Behind him was a she-wolf who had a cloak on, and her gaze was fixed to the ground. Something about her scent made me feel nauseated, but I chose not to show it.
“Alpha Damon, I presume,” the Alpha said when he stood in front of me and extended his hand.
Unlike the Beta and the Gamma, his presence held some dominance, although he wasn’t intimidating in any way.
He was tall, just like his Beta, and his build was okay, but something about him ticked me off. He talked with pride and moved with it. He wasn’t that bad-looking, but he was acting like he was the most handsome man out there. With each minute that passed by, he brushed his free hand through his hair while looking at Sherry, as if to lure her in.
“Let’s kill him,” my wolf growled.
“No, relax,” I answered silently as I took his hand and shook it.
“Yes, and you must be Alpha…” I trailed off.
“I told you on the phone, I’m Johnson,” he said, then dropped his hand and looked at Mika.
Although his face was smiling, his eyes weren’t.
“Xiao, I missed you,” he said when his eyes went to him.
Xiao quickly lowered his gaze to the ground.
“Alpha Damon, you didn’t have to come all the way here to meet us, you know,” he said when he looked at me.
“This person on my left side is my Beta and close friend, Alec, and on my right side is my woman and my Luna, Sherry,” I introduced them, ignoring his words.
I frowned when the lady behind him gasped sharply.
The Alpha turned and grabbed the woman’s wrist roughly, dragging her to stand next to him.
“The tall, huge dude is my Beta, and the other guy is my Gamma. As for this woman, she is my… my woman,” he said with detest.
“Good to know. So now that the introduction is over, what do you want in my territory?” I asked seriously.
“My people, of course. I’m here to take them home,” he answered as I chuckled softly.
“Johnson, was it? I find it weird that an Alpha could leave his pack behind and unprotected just to come and drag a Delta and his mate back home,” I pointed out as his expression turned cold.
“What are you insinuating, Alpha Damon?” he asked.
“What dirt does the Delta have on you? If that’s not the case, then what exactly is he carrying that you don’t want him to share with other packs? Or is it that he is your biological son?” I asked as he flinched.
Bull’s eye. So that’s how it is.
“I hit the nail, didn’t I? Between these three statements, one is correct, isn’t it?” I asked.
“No, you are wrong. That boy is as important as the rest of my pack members. That’s why I’m here to take him home,” he answered seriously.
“If that were true, then you could have treated and accepted his mate well,” I said.
He glared at me and rubbed his chin for a second, then dropped his hand.
“You know what, I’m getting tired of this little fucked up circus act, so I’ll get to the point, Damon. Hand over the boy and his little pup. As for the vampire, you can keep her,” he said as I smirked.
Now he was acting more like the Alpha I thought he was.
I took a few steps closer and stood in front of him, looking him in the eyes.
“No,” I answered strongly, with my wolf partially taking control.
Before Johnson could speak, his Beta touched his shoulder, getting my attention.
He gave a bow, then stood upright.
“Forgive us, sir, for my Alpha’s reaction. It’s just that these past few days, he has been under pressure with other things, so he tends to snap easily,” he said in a calm tone.
I took a step back, then shrugged.
“There is no way I can help you, Beta, because these two have already gone through the pack’s welcoming ceremony, making them a part of my pack. If they had not done it, I wouldn’t have chosen to keep them with me,” I answered reluctantly.
“I understand. If so, can we spend the night at your pack house? As it is, it’s very late, and going back now may be a little dangerous,”he said.
“Alpha, he is lying,” Alec mind-linked me.
“Of course he is, and I know that,” I answered.
“How about I lend you a tent or two? It will help keep you warm and protect you from annoying insects that bite at night,” I said.
“That would be amazing, but our Luna is pregnant and she really does need a comfortable rest. The cars we came in broke down a mile away, and we came here on foot hoping to get assistance,” he answered.
“My answer is no. Go back,” I said seriously.
“Please,” the woman whispered softly from behind.
“Damon, it may be a trap, but what if she is truly pregnant?” Sherry asked seriously.
“Fine, the woman will be welcomed into my pack, but as for the rest of you, you will remain here,” I said, then shifted my gaze to the woman.
“Don’t even think for a second that you are safe. My wife will see to it that you are really pregnant before stepping your damn foot into my house,” I said, then glanced at Xiao.
“You go back with Mika. I’ll be right behind you,” I ordered.
“Yes, Alpha,” he answered in a respectful tone, then went back with her.
“Alec, take the girl and Sherry back to the pack house. I want to have a word with Johnson,” I ordered.
The woman walked to where Sherry was and gave a bow.
Sherry smiled, then went with her as Alec followed behind.
“Let’s keep this simple and friendly, shall we? I can tell that you have come with some warriors in my territory who are waiting for your orders right now, but I’m also sure you can sense that my warriors are surrounding the whole area, right? If you are wise, you will step back and wait for daybreak to get the fuck out of my territory. Your mate will be in good hands, but if she does anything funny, I will mutilate her. Now then, please excuse me,” I said, then turned and walked away before he could respond.
“Fuck!” was the only thing I could hear coming from him.
