Amelia’s p. o. v
Ian was happily driving with his free hand linked to mine. I was resting my head against his shoulder enjoying the beautiful tingles I was feeling and his warmth.
I wanted this moment to last forever. Just us laughing like there was no tomorrow and enjoying the day.
“Are you cold?” He asked softly.
“No, I’m okay, it’s quite warm in here.” I answered then sat upright when I saw a few lights ahead.
We were already back at the pack and that was a bummer.
“You know what I would love right now?” I asked calmly.
“What?” He asked without looking at me.
“A bathtub filled with beautiful rose petals and warm water,” I answered with a smile.
“That would truly be nice, but what I’m dying for is a hot shower.” He answered.
I glanced at him then chuckled softly.
“Men,” I murmured under my breath.
He glanced at me for a second then focused on the road.
“Hmm, women.” He teased me.
I leaned my head back on his shoulder and yawned.
I was a little tired and very hungry. I needed to quickly take a bath and prepare our supper.
“We are here.” He said after packing in front of the pack house.
“Yey,” I muttered, faking my happiness.
He turned and faced me seriously.
“This won’t be the last time that we go out to spend some time together. I promise that I will always make time for you, have you forgotten? I’m no longer that jerk who mistreated you, today is like my birthday because I’m reborn as the mate who truly wants and cares for you.” He said softly then leaned in and kissed my cheek gently.
“Love you.” He whispered, then pulled back with a wide smile.
“Now let’s go and get changed.” He said then turned and opened the door.
He was about to go out when I quickly grabbed his hand.
He turned back and looked at me with a frown on his face.
“I love you a lot,” I whispered with an aching heart.
He chuckled softly then moved my hand to his lips and kissed it gently.
“And I love you.” He answered, then pulled out his hand and came out of the car, shutting the door behind him.
I blinked back the forming tears and bit my lower lip hard to stop myself from breaking down.
The door was opened for me and he gave a funny slight bow.
“My lady.” He called.
I came out and gave a playful bow as well.
“Thank you, kind sir.” I answered in a cracked voice then cleared my throat.
“Let’s go in quickly, it’s a little too cold outside.” He said while shutting the door behind me.
“Yes,” I answered, then linked my hand to his.
We walked into the pack house ignoring the stares I felt from a few pack warriors who were outside watching everything that was going on.
“They must hate me a lot.” I said without thinking much about it.
“Who?” Ian asked as we walked in the passage.
“It’s nothing,” I answered after a soft sigh.
“It’s not nothing when you are thinking about useless things, how can they hate you when I am happy being with you?” He asked seriously then opened the door to my bedroom.
“So you heard?” I asked calmly.
“Of course I did.” He answered and then walked in with me.
I tensed and frowned when I inhaled the scent which was in my room, it was Nana’s scent and another she-wolf. I looked around and then gazed at Ian who had an angry expression on his face.
“Come out.” He growled loudly.
The bathroom door opened and Nana came out with Toni.
Immediately Toni looked at me, she gasped loudly and raised her hand pointing a finger at us.
Ian growled loudly and he was about to move when I quickly grabbed his hand, he looked down at me with a puzzled look.
“Are you truly stopping me, Luna? Are you going to let such a disrespectful brat run free?” He asked coldly as a shiver spread throughout my body. There was Ian I was once scared of.
“I’m so sorry Alpha, I made a grave mistake and I deserve to die.” She said loudly while going down to her knees and lowering her gaze to the ground.
I removed my hands from him and quickly went to Toni’s side, kneeling down in front of her.
“Toni it’s me.” I whispered softly.
“I dare not look at you Luna.” She answered strongly.
“What. Why?. Was it because Ian had called me that!.” I wondered to myself.
“Toni, it’s alright to look at me, right Ian?” I asked loudly.
“You know her?” He asked seriously.
“Yes, if not for her I would have gone through worse hell in this pack. Toni is my friend who has always been kind to me.” I answered honestly.
“I see.” He responded then moved closer and stood beside me.
“Toni is it? Thank you for being kind to my mate.” He said softly as I looked at him in shock.
“I also apologize for acting that way.” He whispered in a low voice then gazed into my eyes.
I smiled happily then stood up and linked my hand to his.
“Toni, you have heard, so please look up and stand up.” I said seriously.
She slowly got up and looked at me with tears filled in her eyes.
She looked pale and much thinner than she was before, her hair was a mess and her dress dirty.
“Nana, what are you doing in my mate’s room?” Ian asked coldly.
“I came to fill the bath for our Luna.” She answered.
“I don’t remember mind linking you to do that. I asked Logan to pick out any she-wolf who could do it, not you.” He spat.
“I know alpha, that’s why I chose Toni to come along.” She answered.
She really was trying her best to see and talk to him. After all, a mother’s heart was unlike any other. Most held so much love and care for their little ones.
“Fine, now that you have done just that, get the fuck out.” He ordered.
No, he needed to talk to her.
I quickly moved and held Nana’s hand in mine with a smile.
“How about you make Ian a cup of tea, he is soaked wet.” I said loudly.
“Amelia,” Ian called in warning.
I turned and looked at him with a smile.
“Binding farewell to the past to start a new beginning is what we talked about.” I answered.
He glared at me for a minute then sighed softly.
“Just one cup and we are done.” He answered.
“Great, now Toni if you don’t mind can you help me out with something?” I asked Toni once I had let go of Nana’s hand.
“Yes, Luna.” She answered.
I grabbed her hand and quickly went with her to the bathroom, shutting the door behind.
“Luna are….”
“Shhh,” I whispered, cutting her off, then waited quietly.
When Ian and Nana had walked out, I sighed in relief then turned to face her.
“Call me Amelia and feel free to say anything like you did back then because I’m still the same girl you were with.” I said honestly.
“Can I really do that?” She asked in a cracked voice as tears rolled on her cheeks.
“Of course,” I answered softly, then moved and embraced her as she sobbed.
I stood in silence for some minutes trying to calm her down as she cried, after feeling much better she stopped and pulled back.
“I’m so sorry, I didn’t mean to do that, it’s just that I was very happy to see a friend after a long time.” She said.
I smiled then patted her shoulder lightly.
“Please take a bath.” I answered as she frowned.
“What?” She asked seriously.
“I know how the baths are in the west wing, they are crappy and scary, that’s why I want you to take a bath here while I take a shower.” I answered.
“I don’t mean that you smell nor am I forcing you to bathe, I just wanted us to talk while you soak in water and I in the shower.” I said seriously.
She laughed softly then quickly took off her clothes.
I widened my eyes in shock over how her skin was covered in red bruises.
“Toni, what’s with those bruises?” I asked loudly.
She looked at herself then sighed softly.
“These are nothing compared to the bruises I usually receive.” She answered, then walked to the tub and got in.
“What do you mean by that?” I asked in concern.
“Wow, this feels amazing.” She said happily while she picked up the rose petals and threw them in the air.
“Toni,” I called.
She sighed and then looked at me.
“It all happened after you were chosen as the alpha’s personal slave. The news traveled everywhere and it came as a shock to most she-wolves who had been wanting his favor for a very long time. They were so furious that they ended up choosing me as their personal punching bag to release their anger.” She said as I clenched my hands in fists.
“As if that wasn’t enough, my owner wanted nothing to do with me because I couldn’t please him. I was moved and tossed in the south wing.” She muttered under her breath.
“South wing!” I exclaimed loudly.
It was horrible.
“Yes, the south wing. There we strive to have everything. There are no baths, food, or clean water. The rooms we stay in are all messed up and filled with roaches. This pack might be home Amelia, but I wish I could turn away and just start a new life.” She said as I tensed.
“Don’t you dare think about taking her with us.” Aurora growled loudly.
“What? I wasn’t thinking about anything.” I answered silently.
“No you weren’t, but the way I know you, you can decide to do just that from nowhere. Remember Amelia, we have to leave today and by that, I mean alone, we can’t put someone’s life in danger or help this pack in any way. Their fate is chosen by the moon goddess and it will forever be that way.” She said seriously.
I swallowed hard and took in a breath then released it.
“Would you like to stay with me for the night?” I asked seriously.
“Really! Will the alpha be okay with it?” She asked.
“Yes,” I answered, then took off my clothes and went into the shower turning it on.
The truth was that I had no idea how Ian would act. All I knew was that he was really doing his best to change.
“When you denied having a mate I believed you.” She said softly then continued.
“Who would have thought that it was the alpha? When the rumor of you being strong and his mate reached me I was very shocked.” She said.
“Being strong?” I asked after I began scrubbing my body.
“Yes. When the alpha was injured you revealed your true form and everyone was in fear.” She answered.
“Really?” I asked softly.
“Yes, Queen.” She answered playfully.
I kept quiet and decided to finish my bath in silence. Toni was easy to talk to and I found myself wanting to tell her the whole truth about my past which didn’t sit well with me.
Once I was done, I stepped out of the shower and closed it.
“I will put something for you to wear on the bed.” I said then walked to the door and grabbed the hanged clean towel, wrapping it around my chest.
I turned to pick up my wet clothes on the floor when she quickly stood up and stopped me.
“What?” I asked.
“Let me do that.” She answered.
“Why?” I asked unhappily.
Was she saying that because I was Ian’s mate?
“I am going to wash my dress as well, so doing them together isn’t bad.” She answered.
“Oh thank you so much.” I said with a smile then walked out of the room.
I quickly dressed up. Put her clothes on the bed and went out of the room following Ian’s scent which led me to his bedroom.
Before I could knock, the door was opened for me. Ian stood in nice dry casual clothes with his wet hair brushed backward. His scent was mixed with soap and that made my heart beat rapidly.
“Come in.” He said softly.
I walked in and went to sit on his bed nervously.
“Did you not have coffee?” I asked.
“I did.” He answered then closed the door and walked to where I was
“And Nana?” I asked as my heartbeat picked up.
“She left half an hour ago.” He answered and sat down next to me.
“Ian,” I called softly.
“Yes.” He answered then grabbed my hand in his.
“I’m here to fulfill my promise.” I said huskily.
“Promise?” He asked with a confused expression on his face.
“Yes, remember I promised you at the beach?” I asked back.
“Oh, that won’t be necessary.” He answered.
“What?” I asked under my breath.
“I got rid of it in the shower, plus I wasn’t going to seriously let you do that. I want us to take things slowly and embrace what comes after.” He answered.
I kept quiet and faced the other side, I felt so embarrassed.
“Can I ask you for a favor?” I asked in a cracked voice then closed my eyes and swallowed hard.
“Anything.” He answered.
I opened my eyes and looked at him.
“Abolish the wings and let the she-wolves live happily here with whoever they love. The males can’t continue doing whatever they want to them, it’s wrong.” I said honestly as his expression turned cold.
