” Who is the bastard that has her?” Derick asked through gritted teeth, it was evident he and his wolf were pissed. Everyone in this room was angry about the situation at hand.
Henry Sergei was once the Alpha of the Red Hood pack, It Was a year ago when my Beta and I were invited over to his pack for his mate’s birthday party, I had some work to do in the neighboring pack, so I decided to attend since I was close by.
But the things I came to uncover in my little time spent in that pack, were big enough to hunt a pure and innocent soul for the rest of their life.
I came to find out that Henry dealt with selling children from his pack into the black market, not only that, but an underground basement was found underneath his pack house, which was specifically built for the butchery of these children, and then he sells their organs and also parts of their body.
The sight was nothing to behold, he got busted by his Beta Lincoln at that time, who was also his half-brother, Lincoln said he had been having this suspicion for months but stayed quiet and decided to observe. Children from the pack started missing, sometimes it was from neighboring packs, he said it happened once or twice a month, these tragic incidents took place, so when he confirmed I had been invited to take part in the function, Lincoln made sure to table his suspicion to me that he thinks his Alpha is responsible for these missing children.
After showing me the proof he has in believing that Henry is indeed the culprit, we decided to stay a little longer and also keep a close eye on him ourselves, until we eventually caught him in the act, he had some help from some of his allies in his council when questioned he said he did it for extra cash and to pay back a debt he had put the pack in due to his gambling.
The Red Hood pack was in disarray after they got to found out about the hideous crimes of their beloved Alpha, the elders of the park came to a decision, and with my help, Henry was stripped of his title, while his half-brother and Beta Lincoln took over and was inducted as the new Alpha.
Henry was put in the pack’s dungeon, while he awaited trial for his punishment. The elders finalized to execute him for his treacherous act, the night of his execution, his mate Fiona managed to sneak in and free him, so they could flee together, but the guards noticed his disappearance and chased after them, in the process of the chaos Fiona died protecting her mate while Henry was able to escape.
I close my eyes as my mind rewinds to all of the events that happened in the Red Hood pack throughout my stay in it.
” Greg and I have a history with the Red Hood pack,” I speak up, breaking the silence.
” I know of the tragedy he caused in his pack and the innocent blood he shared with his hands, and how he was punished by being stripped of his title. ” Dad explains angrily.
” Why is he coming after you, Liam? His pack punished him for his crimes, not you, then why is Macy out there in Goddess knows where, alone, and scared in the hands of this lunatic?” Derick asks.
“A life for a life, a tooth for a tooth.” were his last words to me the last time I faced him, I know why he kidnapped my mate, because of what happened that night.
” He wants revenge!” Greg says this time.
” Revenge for what?” Derick asks.
The room turned silent at his question, Greg looked at me with an expressionless face, only my Beta and I knew the reason for Henry’s payback, the pain I saw in his eyes that night was one that I knew would last for a lifetime.
” Can somebody, please answer me, why is he after you, Liam?” My brother asks impatiently.
” Because I killed his mate,”. I say, making the room turn quiet and cold at once.
” You didn’t do it intentionally, Alpha, it was a mistake.” my Beta says, defending me.
” You killed his mate?” my brother asks, looking shocked at my words.
” Yes. Derick, I killed his mate.”
” She died trying to protect her killer of a mate, nobody knew she would jump right in, so it’s not your fault, Liam how many times do I get to explain that to you!” Greg spoke up this time he sounded angry, My Beta never calls me by my name in front of others. Hearing him call my name shows how upset he is.
” But she still died because of me, Greg, nothing can change that. I have lived with that guilt since then, knowing that she was innocent and the only crime she committed was being paired with a monster like Henry; the worst part was she loved him dearly.” I explained.
” It still does not change anything, Liam, what’s done is done. Henry brought his tragedy upon himself by himself and now what, poor Macy has to suffer for his stupid crimes? No, we are not going to let that happen. We will have to initiate a plan To save our Luna.” Dad says.
My father is right, I cannot let this madman win in this stupid game of his.
Henry knows about my mate when not even my pack or my council knows that I have found my mate yet, that only means one thing. There is an enemy in our midst and this one is close by watching my moves secretly.
Mom and Ripley, we’re done with dinner and served the food on the dining table,
I did not have any appetite to eat anything, and with everything going on I didn’t even realize it was dusk already,
” I know we are all stressed, worried, and concerned about Macy, but we need our strength to face what is ahead of us, so let’s all eat and get some rest. Dad says.
We sat at the table with food already served, Everyone started eating except me and Derick, as for me, my wolf kept howling in pain and agony for his mate.
” Sons, please eat you two look pale as it is, no matter what you will need your strength, so please take a bite uh,” Mom begs us, with a worried look etched on her face, It was no doubt our parents were concerned about us.
I took a few bites of the delicious steak Mom prepared, moving my eyes around the table properly I saw different varieties of me and Derick’s favorite dishes placed, I sighed lovely at Mom’s behavior, this is typically my Mother, I know this is her little way of cheering us up, and I love it.
” Thanks, Mom,” I say to her through the mind link. Smiling at her.
She nods at me, before mouthing,
” We’ll pull through this and bring her home okay, stay strong.”
Hearing those words of encouragement from her uplifted my spirit and gave me hope, I turned to my brother, and he nods at me with a half smile on his lips,
” We’ll bring her home.” he mouths to me.
This was all I needed my family, the strength of my family.
All we needed to do is strategize, wait for the message of the location, and find out who the backstabber is.
