Chapter 170 – You leave me no choice

Book:The Rejected Ex-Wife Published:2025-3-10

“Help!” June yelled at the top of her voice, struggling against the firm hold that threatened to bury her alive.
“Somebody!” She cried. “Anybody!”
June tried to get out of the quick sand to no avail. The more she struggled against it, the faster it dragged her in.
The quicksand got to her waist, firmly holding her bound until it got to her neck, then to her nose, until it covered her whole.
There and then, June’s heart stopped and Zeus felt it immediately. A searing feeling of something being ripped away from him.
Zeus fell to the ground with his hand in his chest. “Augusta…” He muttered, refusing to believe what he felt.
At that moment, Tara ran through the woods in her human form. She wore a triumphant smile as she proceeded towards the borders while Georgina watched Zeus with a hidden smile.
“Oh great! Tara is close!” Georgina announced when she sensed her presence. Unknown to them, it was only the beginning of her plans.
Meanwhile, Zeus’ eyes were blood red as his wolf went rabid. The dark night sky turned into the darkest shade of red, it seemed like hailstones would fall any minute.
“What did you do?!” Zeus growled. His wolf let out a loud painful howl and the next minute, a big black wolf with red eyes appeared before Georgina and the others.
“Do it now!” Georgina roared and immediately, some men who stood by the border brought out a mandrake and began chanting. Whatever they did stopped him from moving an inch.
Zeus struggled against the mysterious hold that bound him to the ground and weakened him slowly.
Coupled with the devastating pain in his chest and the insane need to be with Augusta, he was forced back to his human form.
“Keep going! We don’t have much time!” Georgina ordered and they continued their chants.
Zeus tried and failed to get out of their hold. It was too much to bear. He remained on the ground, breathing harshly as they tried to snuff the life out of him.
“What are you doing?” He managed to speak from the ground, asking his grandmother who wore an evil smile.
“What I should have done a long time ago.” Georgina said distastefully.
“Y-you…” Zeus coughed up blood. “It was you, wasn’t it? You tried to kill me.”
Georgina tutted. “You’re wrong. I poisoned you and you died.” She said as though that made the difference.
“You were supposed to die from the wolfsbane. You were supposed to be gone from this earth. But for some insane reason, you survived.”
“That night was supposed to be the end of the road for you.”
Zeus writhed on the ground as his body threatened to explode from their enchantments. How on earth did she hide the existence of witches?
How did he miss their presence in his pack? Zeus struggled against the powers that tried to snuff out his life force, using every bit of strength he could summon.
All of which led to a dead end.
“You are an anomaly. A stain on the werewolf race.” Georgina seethes. “Your whorish enchantress mother should have died with you in her womb.”
“You shouldn’t exist. I am doing the world a favour by destroying you, Zeus.”
“I am your grandchild!” Zeus roared in frustration. “How can you kill your own blood?!”
“I can’t let you start a generation of monsters. Darren is the only living grandchild I have.” Georgina turned to the men, “Make it snappy.”
Their chants intensified and Zeus felt his life force weaken. He flattened to the ground, too weak to struggle.
“Let him go!” A feminine voice roared.
It was Tara. She arrived at midnight.
“What are you doing to him?!” She pushed through the men and joined Zeus on the ground.
“Get out of the way, Tara.” Georgina said with void eyes. “I’d hate to kill you.”
“Stop it! Whatever this is, just stop!” She roared, baring her fangs at the men, ready to shift.
“You leave me no choice.” Georgina said.
The next minute, a big brown wolf replaced the human version of Georgina. Before Tara could speak a word, Georgina sliced through her human throat and her head rolled to the ground.
Blood splattered the area and Zeus saw the lifeless head and eyes of Tara drop beside him. She was dead. Gone.
Georgina returned to her human form with a smile. “I’ve been longing to do that for as long as I can remember.”
Meanwhile, June heard a voice in her sleep while she laid at the river bank.
“Open your eyes…” The voice was eerie and calm, a soft wind graced her face and she opened her eyes.
A beautiful young lady with long brown hair stared back at her. A reflection of her new body. June jolted from the sight before her.
“Augusta?” She breathed and the young woman shook her head.
“I am the moon goddess.” The young lady’s eyes turned gold and her locs glowed a striking bright white colour.
“W-what?”
“Listen to me.” She urged. “You don’t have much time. You are the true Luna and although you failed the test, I have decided to grant you, and Augusta a second chance.”
“You have three hours to complete your task in this world and return to your world.”
June blinked, unable to wrap her head around the information. “How am I supposed to do that? Tara already -”
“Tara is dead.” The woman said and she stiffened. “If you don’t hurry, Zeus will be too.”
The young lady pulled a bone from her bag and handed it over to June. “Here you go. Keep it safe and trust your wolf.”
June was ready to explain how her wolf had been poisoned but everything went black and suddenly, she found herself in the woods – Dirty from head to toe and holding the Luna bone.
June felt disoriented at her environment but when she heard the fierce growl of Augusta’s wolf, she knew things were about to take a different turn.
Angus took control within a second and immediately transformed into a large white wolf with void eyes. He picked up the bone, held it in his mouth and took off towards the Nightshade pack.
Meanwhile, at the pack, Zeus was close to death when Alpha Darren’s rogues attacked. The entire pack was a mess as troops of rogues flooded the pack, searching for one person.
Georgina felt Darren’s presence and immediately reached out to him via mindlink.
“What is wrong with you? Why are you doing this?!” She scolded. “We had a plan. I promised to make you king. Take care of this mess before you ruin my plans.”
“She’s dead.” Darren was unhinged. “He killed her. Zeus killed my mate!”
