Chapter 915: Nelson’s Scheme

On a desolate road, under the dim streetlights, a car stood still, exuding an air of authority.
Kieran turned his head, “He’s waiting for you.”
A man sat in the back seat, his jaw shadowed with stubble. His shirt was slightly open, and he maintained an inscrutable demeanor. He toyed with a string of prayer beads in his hand. Despite his slow movements, Callie felt a murderous intent from him.
Callie bit her lip, opened the car door, and got in. She leaned on his shoulder and neck, her tone ambiguous, “Wherever I go, you follow. Are you secretly in love with me?”
Nelson used force to push her aside, “You have guts, walking into the lion’s den alone.”
Callie fell to the side, feeling that his tone was even more unpredictable.
At this moment, he was not as easy to talk to as he had been a few days ago.
“How did you know I was here? I checked; no one was following me.”
Nelson glanced at her, his face in shadow, making his expression unreadable. “Stop what you’re doing and focus on your studio. Even if you mix with Jamir, it will ensure your prosperity and peace for the rest of your life. Why are you stirring things up?”
Callie wasn’t sure how much he knew and could only guess. She clenched her hand.
She smiled lazily, “To get back at Charlotte. She stole my husband, and I can’t swallow that.”
This lie was transparent; Nelson didn’t even bother to look at her. “It has nothing to do with her.”
“You’re still speaking for her at this point; your feelings for her must be deep.”
He put away the prayer beads and lifted her face, his presence overwhelming. “The waves in Ylosea are high. Keeping you out of it is for your own good.”
Callie pressed her lips together, “I don’t think so.”
“Haven’t you seen what happened to Marilyn? Why haven’t you learned your lesson?” He smiled faintly.
Callie’s body tensed immediately. She looked at him in disbelief, “You… it was you who arranged it?”
Nelson casually stroked her chin without speaking.
She felt like a frightened kitten, recalling everything that had happened, unable to move.
“Wasn’t it Jaquan? Only Jaquan had those things.”
“Desperate times call for desperate measures,” Nelson chuckled softly. “Thanks to your actions recently, I went to great lengths to make Marilyn suffer a bit. This was part of it.”
“You made Marilyn addicted…” Callie’s lips trembled. “Once she was addicted, she would keep going to Jaquan for more. Over time…”
“Over time, Sienna would inevitably find out,” Nelson finished for her.
Facing this man, Callie felt a chill down her spine. “Why?”
“To avenge you.” He never forgot the humiliation of the photo incident.
She shook her head, “Marilyn isn’t your biological daughter either. Did you tell her that?”
Nelson withdrew his hand, seemingly bored. “No, someone else let it slip.”
“So you knew all along.” Callie couldn’t stop trembling. She hadn’t expected Nelson to know from the start.
Her mind raced. If he knew all along, it meant he knew Maevelyn was the only bloodline, so he allowed her one-sided affection.
The considerations and balances in between were all about interests.
Callie’s brows furrowed multiple times. The cold-blooded and restrained man before her made her fearful.
During the standoff, Kieran came over and knocked on the car door. “Mr. Oconnor, it’s done over there.”
Nelson merely nodded in acknowledgment. Kieran stepped back, and several cars suddenly sped out of the club, heading straight outside at high speed.
