Grace and Disaster

[Your strength is increasing, Kai.]
Seth’s body was already confined by Kai. It was not Seth’s fault if he was going to give up so easily. His wolf’s body was still much stronger than Kai’s. He could easily turn the situation around by kicking Kai in the stomach until his body was thrown backwards and hit the tree trunk in the front yard, then straightening his body back up.
Seth immediately jumped towards Kai, who was trying to stand up. With the movement of half of his strength, Seth locked onto Kai’s body and managed to bite Kai’s nape.
[I lose this time] Kai purred afterward.
Both of them changed into human form and ran quickly to their respective rooms. Seth took a casual T-shirt and shorts from his closet and headed back to the great hall to meet Edith, who was chatting with their daughter.
Kai also grabbed some clothes to wear this morning. In the doorway stood Alexandra with her baby, who had been following him since he returned from the small fight between Alpha and Kai.
“May I come in?” asked Alexandra.
“Of course, come inside.”
“Will I be in the same room as you, Kai?”
“I’ll ask Seth, so we can customise the sleeping box for your baby.”
“You’re bleeding from your nape.”
“I’m a vampire, but I also bleed, and my heart beats. Being a hybrid is not as bad as one might think, but my healing ability is a little longer than when I was a full wolf.”
There was a sense of happiness that welled up in Alexandra’s heart when she heard Kai’s confession. In the past, she might have hated vampires because they were naturally enemies, but after the Moon Goddess matched her with a hybrid like Kai, she broke her own principles.
Moreover, as her grief began to heal after the terrible incident that happened to her husband, her previous mate, she began to believe that a silver lining was coming her way.
Alexandra woke up from her reverie after Kai suddenly kissed her lips. She smiled, and a blush spread across her face. Kai immediately reciprocated by giving her a tight hug.
Kai’s embrace loosened as he heard the sound of his bedroom door being knocked on. Kai stepped up to the door and opened it. He saw an omega standing in front of him and was informed that breakfast was ready. The omega walked away with his head still down and disappeared down the corridor.
“Let’s have breakfast.”
Kai and Alexandra were the last two werewolves to come to the dining table. Both got seats at the far end of the table. Kai saw that all the pack members had gathered. He also understood that Seth had arranged it that way because of the arrival of new members in Red Crescent Moon.
“As you all know, Malachai Henderson has returned from the vampire lair. He also informed me that he has claimed Alexandra Christalli as his imprint. So I have decided that, as of today, Alexandra Christalli is officially a member of our pack. For the ritual, I will leave it to Luna Edith and Emma to organise everything.”
Seth spoke with authority. His brown eyes turned yellow after he stood for a moment, followed by all the other werewolves. The Alpha’s word was a rule that could not be denied or broken.
“Thank you for your enthusiastic acceptance of my presence in the pack. Hopefully, in the future, I will become a Lycan who can provide a good role,” Alexandra said in response to her appointment as a new member.
An omega came up to them with a letter in his hand. He handed the letter to Edith. Seth noticed the letter in Edith’s hand. He saw Edith open it and read it.
Edith’s facial expression turned tense after reading it. When Seth touched her hand, he felt that her skin became very cold, beyond normal vampire temperatures.
“Is there a problem? Who is the sender?”
Edith handed the letter to Seth. Seth read it carefully. Seth’s response was neither tense nor flat, but he pounded the table and got up from his chair. With a loud voice, Seth called Jadden and Will to follow him to the workroom.
With the paper and envelope still in his hand, Seth slammed the letter onto the table. Jadden and Will’s gazes were drawn to the open paper that read,
At the age of 18, your daughter will die, unless you give her to me.
Jadden examined it. He couldn’t find the sender’s name or anything to indicate who the sender was. The letter burned instantly while still in Jadden’s hands. Seth thought hard about all the possibilities regarding the letter.
“Witch!” Seth and Jadden said it simultaneously.
The trick of sending an anonymous letter and having it vanish after a few minutes was finally recognised by Seth after he remembered Eva’s words about blocking the pack house with her barrier power.
“I feel like my head is going to burst. The problem with vampires and werewolves is over. Now comes a new problem. Things are going to get crazy for a while.”
“Calm down, Seth. I’ll ask Eva. Allow me to investigate this, because I’m the only one who won’t be suspected by the witches.”
“Will is right, Seth,” Jadden added to further reassure Seth.
The Alpha nodded silently. He sat back on the chair and linked his hands together. Will said goodbye to the Alpha to go to Eva’s residence. He instantly shifted into his wolf form and marched out of the study.
“Your daughter is the first tribrid on this earth, Seth; there must be a lot of people after her. What I don’t understand is why the sender is so sure that he can save your daughter. It is not impossible that the Idris Council also considers your daughter a threat.”
“I thought about that too. This is both a grace and a disaster. I’m sorry, Julie; I’m just afraid you’re in danger.”
After Seth said that, Jadden excused himself to leave the room and give Seth some space to calm down. He ruled out the possibility that the letter was just a prank, due to the fact that Alpha’s daughter was a special child.
As Jadden crossed the threshold, he bumped into Kai, who was hurrying to enter Seth’s workroom. Kai’s breath caught as soon as he arrived in front of Seth’s desk, followed by Jadden, who was now standing next to Kai.
“Seth can’t be disturbed right now, Kai!” Jadden was already pulling Kai’s shoulder to get out of the room.
“Move over!” Kai snapped, not accepting that he was being obstructed like that.
“Do you want to challenge me, Henderson?”
“It’s okay, Jadden. He has a right to know about this,” Seth interrupted their argument.
“Edith told me that…”
Seth looked at Kai with a flat face and a deep gaze. He wanted to know if there was any connection between the letter and his return to Red Crescent Moon.
“When you were at the vampire lair, did they know about Julie’s condition?”
