“Fluctus Maxima!”
Seth witnessed the wolf’s body being bashed against something before being taken away from him after Seth’s stomach was cut. The other two wolves who were attempting to join Seth’s attack stopped their movements right away. Once again resting in the distance, the brown wolf was approached by them as they turned around.
Seth noticed Eva and the other three wolves behind him and instantly shifted into his human form. Still breathing heavily and whimpering in pain, Seth gave a faint smile when he saw them. He straightened his seat in defence.
“Eva!” Seth shouted.
The portal behind him revealed the figure he had missed so much. Edith rushed into Seth’s arms and held her husband’s body tightly.
“Are you okay?” asked Edith as she looked over Seth’s scarred body.
“I’m fine.”
Edith immediately took Seth’s hand and transferred her healing energy to the Alpha. Seth felt his bones fusing faster, the lacerations all over his body closing faster, and his energy replenished.
“Will, Jed, you two accompany me! Jadden, release Liam, who is above the sewer! Later, we’ll reassemble here. Seth gave orders to his wolves.
“Wait here with Eva! I have to free the others,” said Seth, who instantly shifted back into a wolf.
Edith nodded. Her gaze was immediately drawn to the three wolves Eva was fighting. The witch made the bodies of the three wolves motionless. Edith wanted to try to help; she made eye contact with Eva, and she nodded back.
The next second, Edith had already made the stone floor around the wolves tremble and split. The earthquake she created left the three wolves trapped on the collapsed stone floor, with their bodies already crushed by several large rocks. Edith made sure that the three wolves’ bodies could not rebel anymore by approaching them in the hole.
Eva created a barricade over the hole so that the three wolves could not escape and run away from there. She moved her hands in the air and created parchment and quills from the empty air in front of her.
“I must inform the Idris Council of this situation. You can rest for a while, Luna.”
“I, Eva Quince, am the High Witch of Yorkshire. Reporting the situation before me. We are currently at the Altar of Death with the three werewolves we managed to take down under the pretence of assaulting Alpha Seth Tinley McKirby of the Red Crescent Moon Pack. Previously, there was a Monomachia battle between Alpha Seth Tinley Mckirby and Supreme Alpha Matthieu Moreau, which was won by Alpha Seth Tinley Mckirby. Supreme Alpha’s body was burned when he lost the battle. I will include proof of the battle and attack after this report is sent. That’s all for my report, to be considered by the Council for a fair decision.”
Edith saw the quill stop moving after Eva finished her words. The parchment magically transformed into a paper bird that flew in front of her. Eva pulled a blue thread from her temple and tied it to the paper bird’s body. Afterwards, Edith saw the paper birds fly high into the sky, leaving them all behind.
Edith’s attention was distracted when Jadden returned with Liam on his back. Edith, with her fast steps, immediately approached Liam’s body and grasped his hand. Edith transferred her healing energy to the man.
“Thank you, Luna,” Liam said in a hoarse voice.
“Get some rest, Liam. Recover your strength slowly.”
“Yes, Luna Edith.”
“Can I ask you to check on the Alpha? The three of them aren’t back yet.” Edith asked Jadden with a wink before she left.
Jadden ran on all fours to where Seth was. He mind-linked with Seth and asked,
[Where are you, Alpha?]
[Dungeon, how’s Liam?]
[Luna has healed him; he is resting. I’m coming after you, Seth. Edith is worried about you!]
[Come here; I’m in a bit of a cock-up here!]
Jadden ran with the clues of the mind-link vision Seth showed him. He passed through a long corridor and a revolving staircase, and his steps stopped when he heard a loud clanking sound from the room in front of him.
Jadden quickened his pace towards the room. He saw a wolf with a body twice the size of an ordinary werewolf. The wolf looked chaotic and out of control. Will and Jed were already lying on different sides.
Seth was already preparing to attack the big, furry wolf. The sound of the black wolf’s growl made Jadden shudder.
[She’s a Lycan who was tortured by Matthieu; we should bring her home because she’s pregnant.] Seth said later, after seeing Jadden’s response.
[I don’t think that’s a good idea, Alpha. Don’t you see? She’s very unstable.]
[We can’t leave her like this. She became unstable because of Matthieu.]
[Can we paralyse her without harming her womb?]
[That’s what I’ve been trying to do. Will and Jed were already exhausted, and I just kept dodging his attacks.]
[Is this something you don’t even know what to do?]
“Can I try?” asked Edith, who was suddenly behind them.
[What are you doing here? It’s dangerous, Luna; you have to go!]
“You guys took so long! I was so worried waiting for you up there. I was just following my instincts; let me give it a try, Alpha,” said Edith with confidence.
[I think you can let her try, Alpha,] said Jadden, agreeing with Edith’s words.
[Wait a minute, how can you communicate with us?] asked Seth in surprise.
“There’s no time to explain. We need to help her as soon as possible.”
Edith was already moving forward towards the wolf. She stopped when they were about a yard apart. With great confidence, Edith closed her eyes and made herself float in the air. She transformed into a white-coloured wolf and said,
[I am Edith. I am Seth’s mate and Veela. I changed my form to be able to talk to you. May I know your name?]
[Alexandra] replied briefly.
[We will not harm you. The baby in your womb and you both need intensive care. We can help you so that you can give birth to your baby in good health. If you still have doubts, you can close your sense of smell to check on me. I also have a baby; we are both mothers.]
Alexandra agreed to Edith’s words as she stepped forward and sniffed her slowly. Alexandra briefly gasped in surprise and then growled.
[I’m also a hybrid. I apologise for not telling you earlier.]
[Hybrid?]
[I sacrificed my life to remove the curse of a witch who attacked my mate, and a vampire bit me to bring me back to life.]
[Sacrifice.]
[Yes, you’re right. Are you sure of our good intentions?]
[Okay, I’ll come with you.]
Alexandra stepped back. She lowered her head and thinned her defences. The next second, Edith returned to human form and said, “She agreed to come with us. Seth, I need to treat Will and Jed first.”
[How did you do it?]
“Just women’s talk,” Edith flashed a smile as she replied.
Edith approached Will first and transferred healing energy to the wolf. Then Edith did the same to Jed. Both werewolves were able to stand upright on their own four legs.
“It’s done.”
Instantly, Edith fell unconscious because she felt very tired from the energy she continuously expended to help the werewolves. Seth immediately ran over to Edith and held his wife’s body with his muzzle to prevent her from falling to the floor.
[We’re going home! Thank you, baby.]
