“I’m okay. Beta Jadden and Gamma Will, come to my workroom immediately!”
Jadden immediately carried Seth, who looked pale, while Will looked at Liam, who walked behind them as if looking for answers from the man. Everyone looked at them in surprise.
After the werewolves had disappeared behind the wall, Kai approached Edith, who looked sombre as she walked through the great hall of the pack house. Kai was more concerned about Edith than Seth’s injury.
“Are you alright?” Kai asked.
“We’re fine; only Seth is wounded,” replied Edith.
Edith spoke to Anne about taking Julian to his room. Her command was immediately obeyed by Anne. She brought Julian into her room. Edith walked to the sofa at the end of the room and sat herself there.
Edith cupped her face. Her head was already very dizzy thinking about Seth’s condition, but the man she was thinking about still said everything would be fine. Edith didn’t just believe it; she saw clearly that Seth was holding back his wounds.
“What’s wrong with Seth? He doesn’t look okay.” asked Kai as he sat down next to Edith.
Edith recounted the attack a witch had made on them. She found out from Liam after Edith forced him to talk. Edith remembered Liam, who stood in a dilemma when she forced Liam to talk while Seth insisted on holding Liam back from telling Edith.
She regretted not being able to heal Seth properly. She was able to close the wounds on the scratches all over his body, but Edith was getting frustrated when Seth groaned in pain during the ride. Although Seth had hidden his pain, Edith felt useless for not being able to use her powers on Seth.
“Hey, he’s the Alpha; his body is stronger than you think; after all, you’re a Veela; can’t you heal him?”
“If Seth says that, then you have nothing to worry about, Edith. We wolves can heal ourselves, even if it takes time. You just need to be patient; what can I do to help you become a little more at ease?” Kai said as he took Edith’s trembling hand.
“I’d like a hot drink; please ask an Omega for it, Kai!” pleaded Edith.
Kai walked towards the kitchen, which was located near the back garden. He asked the omega, who was setting the table, to make Luna some hot tea. Kai waited for the omega to finish making tea for Edith and brought it back to where Edith was.
“Here’s your drink.”
Edith accepted the cup of hot tea offered by Kai. Her feelings were so disturbed when she thought about Seth. Edith also had to look tough in front of Julian, who continued to be silent while watching his father. Edith knew that Julian and Seth could mind-link, and she was certain that Julian must be worried about his father because it could be seen from the look on his face that he was tense with his silence.
Their attention was distracted when a grey wolf ran swiftly across the room they were in. Edith knew that the wolf that had just passed by was Will.
“You don’t look okay, Seth; what’s wrong with you? Tell us,” demanded Will.
“Do I need to call Ashley over here?” asked Jadden, who had taken out his mobile phone from his trouser pocket.
“Yes, you can call Ashley. Actually, Edith has healed me, but it still feels like my heart is being stabbed. I can’t move much; the slightest movement immediately makes me weak. Bloody witch! What the hell did she do to me?” Seth said as he groaned in a weak tone of voice.
“So, this is what the witch’s doing? It’s not impossible that you’re cursed, Seth; I don’t want to scare you, man.” said Will.
“Does a curse feel like this?” asked Seth as he stared at Will.
“Yeah, I learned a bit from Eva; she’s a curse master. Do you want to ask her for help? I can go there right now. Tell me the details, so I can describe it to Eva later.”
“Liam and I met her on the cliffs, some distance from the beach. I’ve been watching her since I searched for Edith along the beach. When I took Edith back to the cottage, Liam and I immediately went to the cliffs. The witch had great power; it seemed like she was quite old, even older than Eva seemed to be. We battled, and just as I was about to pounce on her, she extended her hand towards me, and I felt like my chest was pierced by a dagger. As I felt pierced, she cast a spell, and I didn’t understand the language of the spell she used. I fell to the ground, and then she attacked Liam, knocking him into the rock cliff behind me. Liam suffered a pelvic fracture, and I just lay there, unable to do anything,” Seth said with a sigh.
“Yeah, I also saw Liam still wincing in pain when I arrived. By the Moon Goddess, is it that bad? I think it’s going to get worse because our enemies have started attacking Seth,” Jadden interjected, frowning.
“It’s true what Jadden said; you should start making plans to anticipate their attacks. Ask your father for help if you feel like you’re at a dead end. By the way, your mom and dad are at Eva’s house, and I’m going there now; I’ll leave you to it,” said Will, who immediately shifted into his wolf form and ran out of the room.
He could see Luna Edith and Kai talking in the big hall in a sombre atmosphere. Will had to get to Eva’s house quickly to help Seth. He sped up his run through the forest and briefly shifted into human form when he reached a neighbourhood or town.
He was absolutely certain that the Red Crescent Moon was in the sights of the enemy out there. It all started with Alpha Chris’s attack, then Luna Edith’s captivity, and now Alpha Seth’s attack. It all happened in rapid succession, and from what he heard through the conversation between Eva and Chris’ father last time, this all had something to do with the struggle for the position of Supreme Alpha, which might make Alpha Chris or Alpha Seth the ruler of the wolf race.
But what he and Jadden suspected was: why did Luna Edith have to be involved? Could there be other enemies with different concerns? Everything was still like a tangled thread that he and Jadden could not decipher, even by Seth. It seemed like the enemy was playing tricks and weakening their strength. Will could conclude that the three supernatural beings ruling this realm were definitely involved.
Now he was at the gate of Eva’s fence. As if he knew who was visiting the house, Will saw the vines moving down to give him access to the house.
“Hello, baby. I miss you so much.” greeted an arm around Will’s neck.
Will’s lips were already greeted with a sweep from Eva’s lips that greedily crushed his. Not to be outdone by Eva, Will reciprocated by grabbing Eva’s waist and pushing her body against the nearest wall. Both of them continued to vent their longing until a voice interrupted their kiss: “Hmm, we’re here.”
