“Bitch.”
Edith cursed softly. She continued to stare at the flight attendant, who had just left the two of them. She even twisted her body just to check her movements.
She sat uneasily as the flight attendant went back and forth and caught Seth’s eye. She cleared her throat softly to show her displeasure, but the flight attendant still flashed Seth a seductive smile.
“What’s wrong, baby?”
“Nothing.”
Edith screwed up her face and snorted harshly. She folded her arms and stomped her feet repeatedly. She was annoyed at how the flight attendant had touched Seth’s arm while offering him a drink.
“Can you do something to keep the women from acting flirty with you?”
Seth suddenly turned his face towards Edith and chuckled at Edith’s sulking. Seth found Edith’s behaviour very odd, and he himself did not know what caused it.
“Are you jealous?”
“Yes.”
Seth burst out laughing. He was highly amused by Edith’s jealousy of the flight attendant. His laughter was cut short when Julian tugged on his arm and said, “Daddy, I need to pee.”
Seth got up from his chair and took Julian to the toilet. On his way to the toilet, he heard Julian say to him, “Daddy, the woman, she likes you. Mum doesn’t like her. Mummy is so unhappy; don’t let Mummy cry.”
Seth looked at Julian, who was walking beside him. Julian also looked back at Seth with a sad face. Seth stopped his steps and squatted in front of Julian, then said, “Daddy will not make mummy sad; dad promises you.”
Julian smiled and hugged Seth tightly. Seth carried him to continue his steps towards the toilet.
*
Venice.
“Why Venice?”
Edith asked Seth when they had just arrived in front of the hotel. While looking at the city of Venice, surrounded by water, Edith felt a warm breeze touching her face. Satisfied with the sensation of the afternoon in Venice, Edith slowly pulled her suitcase to enter the hotel.
“We’re going to visit a witch’s place, but it’s late afternoon now. We’ll visit her tomorrow morning. I’ll book a hotel, and then we’ll have a night with Alpha Uranio and Luna Anatolia from The Volatile Claws Pack. Don’t worry, they’re the same age as us, so you can chat with Luna Anatolia; she’s quite a friendly female.”
Edith was able to breathe a sigh of relief when she heard that the dinner would be more relaxed because the werewolf couple was the same age as them. Edith probably wouldn’t feel as nervous in their midst.
There was no need to wait too long, as two well-built men came up to them and spoke to Seth. Edith only heard one of them mention the werewolf couple that Seth had mentioned earlier. After that, Seth followed the two men to the lobby.
Arriving at the room, Edith had to rest for a while to release her exhaustion. When she saw Julian approaching her, Edith embraced him and said, “My little caramel, do you want something to eat?”
Julian just shook his head and replied listlessly, “Mummy, why is Daddy so busy?”
Edith saw Seth leave the hotel room as soon as they got inside. Seth had told Edith that he had to take care of something related to the witch they were going to meet tomorrow.
Edith caressed Julian’s face and said softly, “Daddy is a person who has many friends and he likes to help them; that’s why he is very busy, but you don’t need to worry because tomorrow we will go with him.”
“Really?”
“Yes. Now do you want anything, honey?”
“I want chocolate, mummy.” Julian replied enthusiastically after Edth calmed him down.
“Okay. Now change your clothes and sit quietly. I’ll get some chocolate for you, okay.”
Edith rested her body for a while after ordering some snacks for Julian. She leaned on the bed and closed her eyes. Her first trip out of London made her whole body stiff, and she wanted to rest until dinner time.
Edith woke up when Seth patted her cheek gently. She looked at the clock on the wall that showed seven o’clock. Edith jumped in surprise; she only had an hour to get ready for dinner. She saw Julian watching cartoons on the television while eating the chocolate she bought earlier.
“Sorry, I fell asleep. I have to shower, Seth.”
“Let’s take a shower together; I feel so hot too.”
Edith widened her eyes. She had never taken a bath together with anyone, let alone a guy. Edith just stood still in her place and felt confused about what she should do.
“Why just keep standing, c’mon?”
The two quickly got into the hotel bath tub, which was big enough even for two people. Edith looked at Seth, who was smiling amusedly at her. She did not know what Seth was thinking, so she became nervous about it.
“Want me to rub your back, baby?”
“Uhm… sure.”
Seth moved himself closer to Edith. He turned Edith around and started rubbing her slowly. Edith felt relaxed and comfortable as the soap suds touched the bare surface of her skin. The fragrant scent made Edith feel pampered.
“We’ll do it sometime. I’ll make it easy for you, but not now. Now you can rinse your body and get ready for dinner.”
Edith listened to Seth’s words, but she did not understand what he meant. What was Seth going to do to her? She didn’t want to bother thinking about it. Edith quickly got out of the bathtub and rinsed her entire body with cold water. After that, she hurried to get dressed because she had to be prepared.
“Good evening, Alpha Seth and Luna Edith. We’re so glad you guys wanted to visit us. Please have a seat.”
Edith shook the werewolf couple’s hands and smiled. Edith saw that the two couples opposite her were indeed the same age as her and Seth. They sat down after two people behind them pulled out chairs for her and Seth.
Edith heard Seth and the Alpha begin their conversation in a language Edith didn’t understand, so she remained silent and wandered around the restaurant. Her gaze was distracted when a voice spoke to her: “I heard you’re not a werewolf; is that true?”
The woman’s voice sounded excited, and her gesture showed great enthusiasm for Edith. Edith smiled and replied, “That’s right. I’m a descendant of Veela.”
“Magnifica! I thought I was the only one who was different. I used to feel a little low because of this difference. Some packs in Italy were against us, but Uranio managed to prove that I deserved to be his Luna.”
Anatolia took Edith’s hand and clasped it. Her brown skin contrasted beautifully with Edith’s pale white skin.
“May I know what kind you are?” Edith asked in a low voice.
“I’m a witch from the Aquarius Coven. By the way, you are very beautiful, Luna Edith.”
“Thank you. What is the Aquarius Coven?”
“A group of witches who use the water element as their power. You know, this is Venice.” Anatolia flashed a smile.
Edith nodded in understanding. Anatolia was a friendly woman who happened to be destined just like her by the Moon Goddess. Edith felt relaxed talking to her since she revealed her true self.
“So that’s the story. How about you and Seth? You guys make a great couple.”
“We…” Edith seemed hesitant to continue.
“Edith is very shy. I had to hardly chase after her. It’s a good thing I have four legs, so I can catch up with her.” Seth chimed in with a big smile on his face.
“How cute. Uranio, they make a cute couple, don’t they?” asked Anatolia as she grabbed the Alpha’s arm.
“Yes.”
Edith noticed a clear difference in the couple. While Anatolia was a bubbly and friendly woman, Uranio was cold and nonchalant. Edith could only smile as she watched the two interact.
The Moon Goddess had her own way of determining the destiny of the werewolves in this world; even Edith could still capture the romance of the Alpha and Luna couple in front of her with their contrasting traits.
Once again, the Moon Goddess is never wrong.
