Camille looked at the man walking in, incredulous. She asked softly, “Why are you back?”
“Answer me first.”
“You didn’t answer my call, so I turned off my phone.” Ayan raised his hand to pinch his brow, then walked over and lifted her directly from the bed. Yes, he lifted her up just like that. He said lightly, “Is this how you want to torment me?”
Camille snorted and said calmly, “Then why didn’t you answer?”
“I was busy at the time, and my phone was with Kian. He didn’t dare to answer your call casually.”
“He didn’t dare or it wasn’t convenient?” Camille asked indifferently.
Ayan held her face and asked in a low voice, “I think it would be better if I fire Kian. If it weren’t for his incompetence, we wouldn’t have any estrangement.”
“Are you threatening me?” Camille blinked and asked calmly.
Ayan said, “How did saying I want to fire him turn into me threatening you?”
Camille glanced at him as she continued, “Yessica and I have a good relationship that you are well aware of. We’re like sisters. Aren’t you trying to sow discord between us?”
Ayan directly pulled her up from the bed and said lightly, “You call me back, yet you go to bed just like this? Chat with me!”
Camille snorted lightly, “I didn’t ask you to come back. It’s your own choice. Besides, you came back because you were worried that I would be angry with you. After all, you didn’t answer my call first. And also, when you went out, you didn’t explain any evening engagements. You just hurriedly left. You’re making it really hard for me not to overthink things.”
“So, did you call me because you were jealous?”
“Don’t make unfounded claims. I won’t admit anything without evidence. You’re accusing me, and I can hold you legally responsible.”
Although Camille said this, she took the initiative to wrap her arms around his waist and asked softly, “I’ve been away on a business trip for two days. Don’t you miss me?”
Camille was being a bit clingy, which made it hard for Ayan not to react. His gaze became deep and his voice low and hoarse as he asked, “Are you seducing me?”
Camille pushed him away directly. This person’s way of speaking was too rough.
Camille tried to kick him away with her foot but before she could do so, he grabbed her ankle and pulled her into his arms. His voice was low and hoarse as he said, “Are you playing hard to get?”
Camille covered her eyes with her hand. She really couldn’t bear to look at this person anymore. She regretted saying those sweet words to him.
She tightly pursed her lips and didn’t want to speak at all. But Ayan leaned down and pressed her against his chest, asking in a deep voice, “Why aren’t you talking? How am I supposed to know what you want if you don’t tell me?”
“Ayan, that’s enough! Leave me alone! I’m sick of seeing you.” She was furious.
But how could Ayan let go of her?
Naturally, everything that followed fell into place. Afterwards, Ayan kissed Camille’s forehead and told her to sleep first.
He walked out onto the balcony with his phone in hand and made a call to Kian.
Kian had already returned as well. Only Yessica knew about Kian going to Flento City. Therefore, as long as Kian made sure Yessica wouldn’t say anything to Camille, there would be no problem.
He called Kian now for something else.
This time, Kian went to Flento City not only because of Camille but also for other matters that needed handling, including matters related to Preston.
The reason why Ayan left in such a hurry today was partly because of work matters and partly because of the matters related to Preston.
Recently, Preston hadn’t been getting any attention from Walker’s Group. They didn’t even take him seriously. This made him feel extremely displeased and frustrated.
But getting angry wouldn’t solve any problems-especially now that Walker’s Group was run by the team. If he terminated the contract, he would have to pay a huge compensation fee.
Preston didn’t have that kind of money, and Molly found excuses not to give him the money either. This left Preston with no choice but to accept the current situation reluctantly. However, Preston wasn’t someone who would easily accept being taken advantage of-especially when his self-esteem was hurt-making it even more difficult for him to accept this situation.
He was a man with a strong sense of pride. Anyone who knew him or had interacted with him extensively could see through his thoughts at a glance.
In fact, it wasn’t as clear before, especially when he was still working with Camille. At that time, he probably had opportunities to showcase his abilities so there wasn’t any self-doubt yet. But now, he felt inferior and used various means to constantly cover up this insecurity.
Molly hoped that Kian could convince Ayan to help her cause some trouble for Preston.
As soon as the call connected, Kian quickly informed Ayan about his conversation with Molly from that evening. The gist of it was that Preston was in a near-manic state, and he had already been told about Daisy’s company being emptied out.
Upon hearing the news, Preston became extremely agitated. He had viewed Daisy as his last refuge. While Daisy seemed savvy on the surface, he could easily deceive her with just a few words.
After Kian finished speaking, he wasn’t sure what Ayan was thinking and quietly asked, “Mr. Simpson, should we provide some help to Molly?”
“Molly wants Preston to stop fixating on Walker’s Group and the Walker family. She’s genuinely worried about her situation abroad, especially concerning Luke and Naomi. If Preston gains strength, the Walker family’s position could become quite dire.”
At the moment, Preston was short on money, barely able to afford his travel expenses, which left him nearly immobile. However, there was always the possibility that he could find funds elsewhere in the future, which was why Molly had been keeping certain things under wraps.
Her reason for concealing the truth was simple. “Mom and Dad want to enjoy their later years peacefully and are still upset with you. Once our lives improve, they will come back and bless our relationship.”
Though Preston had his doubts about what Molly said, no amount of suspicion could withstand a woman’s earnest efforts. Moreover, he was currently relying on Molly for his food and lodging, a fact he stubbornly refused to acknowledge. Still, deep down, he didn’t want to create a rift between them.
Molly was well aware of Preston’s feelings, which was why she urgently sought Ayan’s assistance.
“You tell Molly that we will release news about Daisy coming to Hance City soon. Preston has no one else to rely on now. There is still at least half a year left on the team contract with Walker’s Group, so he will definitely look for someone who can support him,” Ayan said calmly while Kian looked concerned.
Kian said softly, “Mr. Simpson, if we do this, won’t we be giving Preston an opportunity to contact Daisy?”
