Chapter 1816: How Strange

Camille was extremely troubled, feeling helpless and speechless.
She then thought about what Kathleen had said. The Wyatt family seemed to believe that everything could go their way.
This undoubtedly told Camille that no matter what decision she made, the Wyatt family had a way to make her agree.
So, was it a threat?
After being threatened so many times, she was no longer afraid of threats.
She took a deep breath and adjusted her emotions before saying, “Sorry, did I scare you?”
“No.” Sienna also pursed her lips and looked at Camille on the other side of the phone camera, then spoke softly, “I don’t know what the Wyatt family wants, but since you’re the only child of the Wyatt family, they will definitely want you back as a Wyatt. As for why they sent you to be raised by the Armstrong family, I guess we’ll have to ask the patriarch of the Wyatt family.”
Joseph Wyatt’s health was deteriorating day by day. No matter how much money he had, he couldn’t reverse it. He was weak, and he was getting older. This was irreversible.
Camille talked to Sienna for a long time, mainly about whether or not to return to the Wyatt family, and then they discussed Camille’s collaboration with Kathleen.
Camille remained steadfast in her position. No matter what the Wyatt family was like or how wealthy they were, she had no intention of being a Wyatt. Since she had made such a choice from the beginning, she should continue to stick with it until the end. The Wyatt family only desired to reclaim her now because they had no one to support the family.
Sienna said, “You can collaborate with Kathleen, but you have to be careful. Now that I know about this matter, even though I can’t offer much help, at least there’s one more person you can discuss things with. Let me know if there’s anything I can do. As your good friend, I’m really worried about you.”
Camille smiled and said, “Thank you, Sienna.”
They talked for a long time until they heard Rex’s car approaching. Sienna immediately said, “Let’s talk about it tomorrow when we meet with the project team. Rex’s back now, so let’s end it here!”
“Okay, bye!”
Before Camille could remind her, Sienna took the initiative and said, “Don’t worry. I won’t say a word about this matter to Ayan.”
Camille smiled. She trusted Sienna in this regard. Although they now had their own families, what they said to each other wouldn’t be mentioned to anyone else. They were each other’s best confidants.
After ending the call, Camille continued to lie on the carpet without moving. When she chatted with Sienna just now, she returned to her room. Now she was lying on the carpet in her bedroom and lost in thought.
Ayan wouldn’t be coming over tonight because he had work to handle. It was actually quite rare. Logically, if she were staying at the Simpson’s mansion, he should have wrapped up his work early to come and keep her company.
But today, he didn’t.
The more Camille thought about it, the more chaotic her mind became. She picked up her phone and called Ayan.
The call went through.
But no one answered.
How strange.
Camille pursed her lips slightly and frowned as she stared at her phone with some emotions on her face.
Camille let out a soft snort and turned off her phone directly.
If he wanted to ignore her, then let him be unable to reach her.
Camille threw her phone onto the bed and then went downstairs.
It was almost dinner time. Talia was accompanying Timothy while he ate. Timothy could eat on his own now and wouldn’t ask to watch TV or do other things while eating.
It was all thanks to Talia.
While Timothy ate, Camille chatted with Talia, expressing her gratitude from the bottom of her heart. She wasn’t just saying it casually. Every time she expressed gratitude, it came from deep within.
She said to Talia, “Timothy will go to kindergarten in the second half of this year, which means you’ll have more time for yourself. You’ve worked so hard taking care of him these past two or three years, and I’m so grateful for your help. Thanks to you, I haven’t lost my sense of self-worth or my career.”
Talia smiled. “You’re being too polite. I’m not just helping you. Timothy is part of the Simpson family too. How could all the pressure be on you alone? And who says children must be cared for only by their mothers? Grandmothers can do it, grandfathers can, and fathers can certainly step up. Mothers are already amazing, and as someone who’s been through it all, I just want to be your support.”
Talia’s words moved Camille deeply. She lowered her head, her eyes glistening with tears. “Thank you, Talia!”
“We’re family, and we don’t need to say that. If you really want to thank me, then settle your matters with Ayan soon. Regarding the wedding, I’ve been in touch with the team and talked to Ayan’s father. Since Callum’s health is currently stable, should we start planning the wedding?”
“Yes, that sounds good. I have no objections, but the process and details will need the team’s attention. Ayan and I might not be able to manage too much.” Originally, they had only planned for a simple ceremony, but that had been postponed due to everyone being too busy to focus on it. As a result, preparations had yet to begin.
Camille and Ayan’s relationship wasn’t a secret. Everyone in their circle knew they had a child together. So Talia often received inquiries about when they could get to attend her son’s wedding.
Talia didn’t want to pressure them. She was only discussing this with Camille because it was the right moment. She had never put pressure on either Ayan or Aria, and both children were quite easygoing, so Talia didn’t feel overwhelmed by the challenges of raising them.
Camille smiled faintly, her voice soft with a hint of amusement. Although the wedding was now a definite plan between her and Talia, she still needed to talk to Ayan about it later.
However, she had no interest in engaging with him now.
After dinner, she played with Timothy for a while before returning to her room.
Her phone was still off. She took a shower, then made herself a cup of tea. Sipping her tea while watching a movie, her mood remained quite pleasant.
It wasn’t until after eleven that she decided to turn off the movie and get some rest.
However, just as she lay down, she heard the faint sound of a car outside, though she couldn’t be sure. She got up and tiptoed to the window, noticing a car entering the garage of the Simpson’s mansion.
Her brows furrowed. Could it be Ayan returning?
But she quickly dismissed that thought. He hadn’t even answered her call. How could he be back?
He probably didn’t even know she had tried to reach him. With that thought, she returned to her bed and turned on her phone. Before she could check for any missed calls, the bedroom door swung open.
Their eyes met, and the man looked at her with a cold gaze. He walked over slowly, sighing in resignation. “Why did you turn off your phone?”
