Godiva PoV.
“What did I see before?”
I kept thinking about Castor’s appearance in the blood-stained shirt as I walked towards my room. Did this make sense? How could I have no fear and decide to accept being their mate? Had I become so desperate that I wanted my life to be happier?
With blood on both hands, I imagined that Castor would kill a human, and it could be me. The one thing I had going for me now was my submissive attitude. I had to obey all of Castor’s rules so that he wouldn’t kill me.
About Pollux? I thought he was an easy-going, annoying person. A figure who wouldn’t meddle in other people’s business. A freedom lover and a man who charmed every woman, except me.
I could observe him nodding his head and sometimes shaking his head as I picked out some clothes before I bought them. He took out a shiny black card from inside his wallet, and in one swipe, I immediately received the clothes I had chosen.
I knew that Pollux just wanted to use me as his toy. I just had to keep my distance from him, and I already had the signs that set them apart. Besides the piercing on his eyebrow, Pollux also has a crescent moon tattoo on his right wrist.
“What kind of man is Castor?”
I felt reluctant to ask Pollux about Castor earlier. I didn’t want to talk to him about anything anyway. I’m a good learner, so I’ll find the answer myself.
I was just about to tidy up my groceries when I heard a knock on the door. Iride’s voice caught my attention. I called out to her to let her in.
I saw Iride with a maid, who I guessed was very young. The maid had freckles on her cheekbones that contrasted nicely with her fair skin. Her long red hair was braided and pulled back into a bun. I greeted her with a smile when she bowed.
“Luna Godiva, Omega Trisha will help you with everything you will need. Trisha will accompany you everywhere unless you ask her not to be around. You are free to ask her for anything. Is there anything you want to ask?”
“Should I call her Omega or Trisha?”
“Omega is our status in this house; you can call me Trisha, Luna,” Trisha answered politely this time.
“Thank you, Iride. I understand.”
“I’ll take my leave, Luna.”
I saw Iride walk out without bending over again, like yesterday. I felt relieved that she understood my request. Now I have to get used to Trisha being beside me.
I was curious about Trisha, who was now standing by the door. It’s not that I didn’t need her. I’m not a princess who was privileged from birth, so I don’t know what the relationship between us should be like.
I started taking out the clothes from the paper bag. As she saw me struggling with my things, Trisha took the initiative to offer her help to tidy them up. At first, I felt awkward because I could do it myself, but I remembered Iride’s words that Trisha’s job was like that.
“Do you have your own way of organizing your clothes, Luna?” she asked as she bent down to take two blouses from one of the paper bags.
“No, I don’t. You’re free to put them down as long as they’re neat, and I can still pick them up.”
“Okay, I understand,” she said slowly.
“Uhm, Trisha, may I know how old you are?”
“I’m seventeen, Luna.”
“Didn’t you go to school? Did you guys not go to school? This morning, I also saw some maids who seemed to be around your age.”
“We got mentoring when we were ten years old. Just some basic lessons that humans learn so we can socialize with them.”
I also listened to Trisha, who told me about the lives of the omegas in this house they called the pack house. From their story, Castor and Pollux did apply strict rules, but still within normal standards. I felt bad for thinking that the omegas were treated like slaves. Apparently Castor wasn’t as cruel as I thought.
I also asked about Castor’s figure in their eyes. Trisha didn’t say much to me, and I understood why she did so. I concluded that they had great respect for Castor and Pollux.
After all our talks, I finally understood my position in this house. I took a deep breath, and then I exhaled slowly. Seeing me like that, Trisha brought me a glass of water from the nightstand.
I felt amused myself. Just yesterday, I was thrown a bowl by Aunt Caylee, and now Trisha was getting me a drink. My world was turned upside down in just a few hours.
“Trisha, can I use the kitchen to prepare lunch?”
“By the Moon Goddess, forgive me, Luna. It’s my fault for forgetting that it’s lunchtime.”
I saw the frown on her face as she closed her eyes. She shook her head quickly and squeezed the lace on her skirt. I stood up to go to her and touched her shoulder.
“Can I cook in the kitchen?” I repeated my question.
“I’m not sure if this is allowed since there is already a chef cooking for all the pack members. Let me prepare it for you.”
“I’ll be in charge. I can’t just sit around like this. It’s killing me.”
I saw Trisha’s increasingly disorganized movements. Seeing her like that, I immediately pulled her hand away to follow me. I walked out of the room and down the stairs. I asked her where the kitchen was, and Trisha answered in a trembling voice.
I wondered to myself, Was I too spontaneous? Arriving at the kitchen, I saw two men wearing white uniforms like human chefs. On the other side of the kitchen counter, I saw three omegas of different ages stepping back to let me pass.
“Luna Godiva, how can we help you?” They asked me.
I wondered even more how they knew me. I had only been in this house for a day and a night, but it was like they had known me for a long time. I stopped right in front of the three omegas.
“Can I cook in this kitchen?”
Suddenly, all the omegas around me reacted with different faces. The two male chefs immediately looked at each other, while the three omegas looked at Trisha. I didn’t get an answer to the question I asked them, so I added the exact words I told Trisha earlier.
In the midst of the awkward atmosphere, I heard shoes coming toward the room I was in. I turned around and saw Castor and Pollux stepping right up to me. Behind them followed Iride, with a furrowed face and eyebrows.
“We were looking for you, Godiva. What are you doing here?”
I squeaked, “I’m hungry, and I want to cook lunch. I tried to talk to the omegas, but they seemed hesitant. Can I use this kitchen to cook, Castor?”
“Leave the three of us alone, except for you, Iride. You stay here.” Castor’s deep voice scared me even more.
Iride stepped forward toward Castor, then asked, “Is there anything I can do for you, Alpha Castor?”
“Do female humans like to cook? Isn’t that what only male chefs do?”
