Pollux PoV.
“My name is Godiva, not sweet pea.”
I saw both her eyebrows furrow as she criticized me. It was an adorable sight, and I chuckled at it. I reached out a hand to help her up, but she did not take my hand and walked away as if she thought I was not in her presence.
I did not care. The more Godiva got angry, the more I enjoyed teasing her. Something inside me stroked my ego, and I almost forgot that Godiva was my mate.
This is insane! I was just teasing her, and she was so upset that I flinched at my wolfish side. I must treat her well if I do not want my heart to stop beating suddenly.
“Godiva, you’re going the wrong way.”
I tried to catch up with her, but she misstepped and headed for the main door instead. I called out to her, and she still didn’t listen to me. Am I that bad in her eyes that she would ignore me?”
“Hey, sweet pea.”
I saw Godiva stop her steps and turn around. It was better to call her something else instead of her own name. Women!
“I told you my name is Godiva, not sweet pea.” Godiva rose her voice.
“You responded to my call with sweet peas. Honestly, it’s a pretty good nickname for you. You smell so good like that flower,” I still responded to Godiva with a joke.
“Listen, Pollux. I don’t want to argue with you. I’ve had a bad day since yesterday, and I don’t want to add to the list of bad days in my journal. Aren’t you satisfied that you fucked me?”
I sensed the anger in her as Godiva looked at me sharply. The color of her reddened eyes and the tears that began to well up were enough to make me shut my mouth. I remembered Castor’s words from last night.
“Alright, I’m sorry. I just wanted to tell you it’s not that way.”
“Where should I go? This house is so spacious; all I know is the entrance I went through last night.”
I was relieved after seeing her tiny hand wiping away tears. I applauded her for taking control of the situation so that it wouldn’t turn into a drama. I pointed to the side corridor that I usually use for access to the garage.
I asked Godiva to walk behind me as I walked to show her the direction. In the corridor that only two consenting adults could walk through, I smelled her intoxicating scent even more. What is it that makes a human so intoxicating to me and my brother?
Oh, Moon Goddess, is it true that we have a human mate and are not of our kind? I kept thinking about that as I made my way to the garage. I pressed a button, and a pair of gray sports car headlights instantly turned on.
I was just about to open the car door but did not find Godiva at the driver’s side door. I turned around and saw her standing with her mouth half open, looking around the garage. I tilted my head, trying to understand her.
“What are you doing?”
“You’re a werewolf, but why are there so many cars here? Don’t you just run when you want to find prey?”
“Are you that naive?”
Godiva immediately closed her mouth. To me, her facial expression was so cute that I wanted to caress her like a master with his dog. From this moment on, I realized that Godiva was really an innocent woman.
Have I gone too far with her? How could an innocent woman come into our lives? Is it time for me to change my views on women?
“Is that your car?”
“Yes. Get in. It’s getting late.”
He obeyed my command. I waited for her to put on her seat belt and then started the engine. I pressed the button to lower the sunroof as I handed Godiva the sunglasses I had taken from the dashboard drawer.
“Summer in Burze can give you sore eyes.”
I was relieved that she took me at my word again. She put on the sunglasses I gave her and looked straight into the rearview mirror. I smiled as I watched her look in the mirror, showing off her rows of white teeth.
The summer breeze made Godiva’s hair flutter back. She stretched one hand out to the side and muttered how much she liked the wind. Something inside me liked her act, even though I thought it was a little silly.
“What was Castor’s order to you?” I asked to start the conversation.
“I was told to choose a wedding dress that I like and to buy some clothes, but I’m going to choose a wedding dress only because I still have some clothes in my suitcase and there are already too many in my room.”
“Just do what Castor tells you,” I said casually as I turned the steering wheel to the right after the traffic light turned green.
“Do you guys always insist like this?
Ever since I met Castor, he’s been telling me this and that. Especially you, who told me to be quiet last night. Ah yes, Castor also told me that I should understand you. I can’t promise; just looking at you makes me very pissed off, so don’t talk to me this casually.”
“Whatever. I’m not saying that because of what you just said. I said it because I know Castor. You don’t know Castor’s character yet.”
I could see out of the corner of my eye that Godiva was looking at me. I am sure I did not say it wrong. Godiva did not know either of our personalities yet.
I thought she would ask, but Godiva looked back at the highway ahead and leaned back. She stayed in the same position for a long time until I saw her head droop onto her shoulder. Is she sleeping?”
I eased off the accelerator and checked on Godiva. She was asleep behind her sunglasses. Did she not sleep last night?
With her, I discovered the uniqueness of her personality. She was enjoying the wind in her hair, yet she fell asleep so quickly. My conscience tingled to know her daily life.
“Maybe this will be the beginning.”
I muttered under my breath as I stepped deeper on the gas pedal. We arrived at the boutique recommended by Castor. I unbuckle my seat belt and turn off the engine.
“Godiva, wake up. We’re here.”
“I still want to sleep. Five more minutes; I’m so sleepy,” she replied in a dragging voice.
“Godiva, Castor just called and asked if you tried on the wedding dress.”
I lied. Miraculously, Godiva immediately straightened her seat, and she believed my words. I grinned to see her in a hurry to get up.
I got out of the car first, and Godiva followed behind me. We entered a two-story boutique building with several mannequins displayed with bridal gowns on the first floor. I walked slowly to keep up with Godiva, who occasionally stopped to admire one of the wedding dresses with flowing fabric on the floor.
“Excuse me, are you Mr. Pollux Melucci?”
A woman in her mid-thirties came up to me. She had a smile on her face after asking, and she looked at both of us. I replied with a nod of my head and followed her lead after she informed me that she would be the one guiding us to choose the wedding dress.
We went up to the second floor and entered a large oval room with many mannequins surrounding the room. I just stood still in my place while Godiva went straight around to look at the wedding dresses one by one. The woman was really guiding her, and I heard her occasionally explaining the details of the dresses to Godiva.
I saw Godiva nodding as a smile graced her face. Again, my heart pounded, and my blood rushed violently through my veins. The girl effect was so strong that I had to sit on one of the sofas to neutralize the sensation.
