Damian rushed downstairs only to see they were being ambushed. He pulls out his gun looking around to find Matthew and the others.
His eyes caught Matthew and Victor standing in front of the door with a group of men tied up. His eyes darkened as he walked towards them. He didn’t miss the sight of his front door being destroyed.
“What the fuck is going on here?” Damian sneers.
All guards stand straight, seeing their leader. Victor turns to him, “They were trying to ambush us. We manage to catch some of them.”
How did they know this place? As far as he knows, no one knows this place since it is a secret base. Not even his parents know about this place.
“Did that old man send you?” Damian asks, as he crouches in front of them. “Tell the truth since I have the patient in me right now.”
One guy scoffs. Blood trickling on his forehead. “Who else?”
“How the fuck they know this base!?” He looks at Victor in anger.
“I’m not sure, Dam. I make sure there is no trace for them to track us,” Victor explains. He is willing to put his life in this, that he telling the truth.
Damian clenched his fist as he felt something was not right. He turns to the guy who still has a smile on his face.
“How did you know this place?” He glares at him.
“Who knows…” the guy smirks.
He grabs his collars roughly, “I think you should tell me right now.”
“You shouldn’t put trust in anyone in this clan. Anyone could be a traitor, you know?” The man chuckles.
A traitor? Someone in this clan might be the rat. Damian felt rage in his heart knowing his clan had a traitor.
“Mat, I want you to gather everyone at the backyard. Not even a single person has the excuse,” he firmly speaks.
“Right away, sir,” Matthew nods. He was about to walk off but the sounds of that man’s laughs made him stop.
They look at him with confusion. He laughs so hard even with pain in his voice. It must be from the beating from Damian’s man. His laugh only raised Damian’s anger.
“Oh, you don’t have to do that…” he chuckles.
Celestia, who is standing behind Matthew, notices something. She lifted her head to see outside the house. Her eyes narrowed on the car that just parked in front of the house.
“What are you trying to say?” Victor asks.
Then, Celestia saw someone come out of the car holding a huge weapon on his shoulder. Her eyes are wide open.
“Because we already kill them,” he grins.
“TAKE COVER!!” Celestia yells.
Melody, who is hiding in the closet, let out a short scream when she heard a loud explosion. She closed her ears, trembling in fear. She didn’t know what was happening down there.
But, what she knows is…someone is attacking them right now.
The sound of someone kicking the door open makes her flinch. She closed her mouth to prevent any sounds coming out. She looks between the gap in the closet.
The shoes are unfamiliar to her.
It’s not Damian.
The person walking around the room, checking every single thing in this room. Her heart pounding so hard. Then, the person turns around as he notices the closet. Her eyes widen when he walks toward it.
Her eyes closed, praying for her life.
BANG!
The gunshot being heard. Blood splattered through the gap of the closet. When the closet door opened, Melody was about to scream but stopped herself when she saw Damian.
“Mel-”
Before he could finish, Melody jumps into his arms. She crying so hard thinking she’s going to die any minute.
“You are fine…everything is fine,” Damian stroking her hair. His touch and voice make her finally calm.
Matthew and the others came, “We have to go now, Dam!”
Damian pulls away from the hug and nods. He gets up and gathers some of his important stuff. Melody looks at them with confusion, not knowing what happened.
“Faster, Dam!” Victor yells.
“What is going on!?” Melody finally got the courage to ask.
Damian didn’t say anything. He grabs her hands, “We have to leave. They found this secret base.”
He dragged her to the emergency exit, which is a secret door. He kicked it open before pushing her to get in first. After all of them got in, the door closed. Damian led the way to the other door.
“Mat, crowbar,” he reached his hand out.
Matthew handed over the crowbar to him. Damian didn’t waste his time and opened the door with it. Once the door opened, he looked at Matthew who nodded.
Matthew hoisted himself up and climbed out of the place. “It’s clear.”
Damian nodded and held Melody’s waist. “Reach Matthew’s hand, love,” he said before hoisting her up.
Melody didn’t say much and reached for Matthew’s hand. All of them manage to get out and run to the car. Victor starts the car and drives away when everyone gets in. Melody turns around.
Damian was right. They were being ambushed…once again.
“Where are we going now, Dam?” Victor asks.
“We don’t have any place to go for the meantime,” Matthew added, wiping the blood on his forehead.
Damian closed his eyes, thinking of other plans. “I’m not sure.”
“We can’t go to your parents’ house. It will be risky,” Celestia spoke.
“No. We wouldn’t go there. We need a place where…it…not what they expected to be,” Damian pinched the bridge of his nose.
“How about Uncle Woo…” Melody mumbles.
All their attention on her. Damian looks at her with confusion, not familiar with the name.
“Uncle Woo? Who the fuc-who is that?” Damian frowns.
___
Uncle Woo is wiping a gadget on the counter. He hummed to the Chinese song that he played on.
The bell rings as someone is coming in. He put down his work and turned around with a bright smile, “Welcome-”
His smile faded as soon as his eyes caught on Melody. She looks a mess with blood on her face. Not only that. The sight of her came to his store with four intimidated people standing behind her.
It seems like you can see a bunny being surrounded by wolves.
“Melody!” Uncle Woo rushed towards her. She holds her face, notices the tiredness on her face. “Oh my gosh, what happened to you, my dear!?”
“I’m fine, Uncle,” she chuckles.
“Fine!? This is not fine, dear! Look at you-whose blood is this!?” Uncle Woo frowns.
Damian steps forward, “I know this is not appropriate, but we need some place to stay. If you don’t mind…can we crash here for a moment?”
Uncle Woo looks at him, then to the others. He can see they seem to be a good one. He moved his attention back to Melody.
“Please…” she pleaded.
He sighs and nods. “I don’t know what happened but seeing the state of all of you…I don’t want to ask.”
“Come, my child. We have hot soups upstairs,”
Matthew came out of the bathroom, ruffling his hair with the towel. “Gosh, that was the best bath I ever had.”
“What? You never had a best bath before?” Celestia scoffs. She sitting on the couch with coffee in her hands.
“I do but not this best,” he lets himself fall on the couch.
Celestia grunts, slightly pushes his head, “Move aside, you are so big on this couch.”
“I’m sorry, it’s not my fault this couch is small,” he rolls his eyes. He put his head on her thighs.
“What the-move away!!” She scolds him.
“Let me borrow your thighs. I’m tired of all the incidents we go through,” Matthew grins and grabs the remote before turning the television on.
Melody chuckles, “You made this like your house, aren’t you?”
“He always liked that, Mel. He didn’t use the word ‘behave, ‘” Victor speaks, wiping his gun.
Matthew scoffs, “I do, but this house gives a comfort vibe.”
“I always crash here whenever I don’t want to go home,” Melody smiles.
“You are so lucky to know someone like Uncle Woo,” he adored her.
Uncle Woo came with a tray of hot soup. “You are a good child, Matthew,” he chuckles.
Celestia pushed Matthew off before going to help the old man. She put down the tray on the coffee table.
“You don’t have to prepare all of this, Uncle,” Melody looks at him with concern.
“Oh please, dear. It’s been so long, my house is not chaos like this,” he smiles, showing his wrinkles.
“We can make it even more chaos-Oww!!” Matthew whines in pain as Celestia smacks his head.
“I’m sorry about him, sir. He can be an obnoxious one,” she apologizes.
Uncle Woo laughs as he shakes his head, “You guys are so funny. Well, I will be downstairs taking care of the shops. Call me if you need anything,”
He shut the door. Matthew didn’t waste his time and grabbed a bowl of the soup. Celestia scolds him while Victor just relaxes on the couch.
“Mel, your turn for bath,” Damian appeared with a towel.
“Coming,” she gets up and goes to him. He reached to her cheeks and wiped the blood. “If you are worried about me, I’m fine.”
“I’m always worried about you,” he mumbles.
“Anyway, what are we going to do now?” Melody fiddles with her fingers.
He paused for a moment before speaking, “We will think about it tomorrow. We can’t stay here too long.”
“I know…” she mumbles.
He caresses her hair, “Just go take your shower. No need to tire yourself out with that.”
Melody just nods and goes inside the bathroom.
