Chapter 835: Picking Pebbles

Book:A King Reborn in Shadows Published:2025-3-1

After leaving the Sharp’s Group, Flynn called Scarlet Wong.
“How about I take you to explore Jade Dragon Mountain today?”
“The Shadowstream River at the foot of Jade Dragon Mountain?” Scarlet Wong was taken aback for a moment, then smiled, “It seems that Mr. Clark is in a good mood. But the weather isn’t great today. It looks like it’s going to rain.”
Flynn looked up at the sky. It did look dark. “It probably won’t rain. Do you want to go?”
“I’m too busy!” Scarlet Wong sighed and hesitated, “I’m currently supervising the project at Ponocord Bay. How about you come to Ponocord Bay?”
“Besides, there’s nothing to see there. It’s all smoggy and noisy with excavators everywhere. Several construction teams have been working there. It’s suffocating.”
After the state government issued the documents, they outsourced the work to three large construction companies, and more than ten construction teams simultaneously entered Niarak.
The construction of the ten-thousand-acre wetland in Ponocord Bay was in full swing, along with Niarak’s city project, making for a grand scene.
Construction machinery and workers were everywhere.
Flynn felt disappointed. “I need to find pebbles at the Shadowstream River. I need a lot of them, but they’re not available in Ponocord Bay.”
“Pebbles?” Scarlet Wong’s face darkened instantly, and she couldn’t help but get angry. “Oh, so you called me to help you with your work?”
“But why do you need those?”
Flynn smiled and explained, “I obtained an iron meteorite, and I want to use it to forge a sword. But melting this thing isn’t easy. It requires a temperature of over a thousand degrees. Most stones can’t withstand that heat.”
“But pebbles at the Shadowstream River can.”
Scarlet Wong said, “Oh, I see. However, the project at Ponocord Bay is currently in the foundation phase, and I can’t afford to neglect it. I need to keep a close eye on the progress of the construction.”
“Alright, you’re busy. Don’t rush too much. If something happens, leave it to Orion Kennedy,” Flynn smiled, feeling somewhat disappointed.
He regretted giving Orco Real Estate to Scarlet Wong. She had been busy with work and hadn’t had time to be with him recently.
Scarlet Wong seemed to sense his thoughts and smiled mischievously, “Do you miss me? How about I come over tonight?”
“Do you want me to give you an aromatherapy massage again?” Flynn raised an eyebrow and smirked.
Scarlet Wong couldn’t help but think of that time in the bathroom when they used up half a bottle of essential oil…
She blushed instantly and coquettishly said, “Yes, I’ve been working hard to make money for you. You should give me a good massage tonight. I’ve been so tired these past few days.”
“Alright, I have work to do. I’ll go check on the foundation at Ponocord Bay.”
“Make money for me?” Flynn looked at the hung-up phone speechlessly. “Am I becoming a keep man?”
However, Scarlet Wong had indeed changed a lot since they first met.
Back then, she only knew how to have fun and was a night owl, but now she had started focusing on her career.
Her daily routine was very regular, and she often learned about management issues from Rose Sharp.
She became more adept at handling work.
She had become a qualified president of the company.
“It’s true that being with excellent people can make one excellent too.” Flynn praised himself before dialing Molly George and Harriet Hamilton’s numbers.
These two women were relatively free.
When he got through on the phone, Molly George sounded tired but still agreed.
Harriet Hamilton was very enthusiastic and happily agreed.
Not long after Flynn arrived at the Shadowstream River, the two of them drove over.
“Flynn, how many pebbles do you need? I brought two woven bags!” Harriet Hamilton held two woven bags used for fertilizer and walked over with a smile.
“Two should be enough,” Flynn smiled slightly.
He actually forgot to bring bags for the pebbles. Harriet Hamilton was really attentive.
Molly George definitely wouldn’t bring any bags.
She had always been careless and forgetful.
Thinking of the note Molly George dropped that Layla Woods picked up made Flynn annoyed.
Seeing Molly George looking exhausted made him even more frustrated.
“What did you do yesterday? Your face bears two large dark circles. Have you been taking Tempering Elixir?”
Molly George rubbed her eyes and sleepily said, “Yes, I’ve been taking it. Last night, I had dinner with my senior sisters at Ms. Sharp’s villa and got drunk.”
After saying that, she quickly added, “Hey hey! Don’t get mad yet! Only I got drunk. My senior sisters were drinking non-alcoholic beverages.”
She knew that Flynn didn’t like her senior sisters and was afraid that he would misunderstand that they didn’t care about Rose Sharp’s health, so she immediately explained it to him.
Flynn nodded in acknowledgment. “It seems like your relationship with them has improved. That’s good because you won’t overthink things. Comforting you is so troublesome!”
Molly George’s lips curved into a smile of relief. “Yeah, we talked for a long time last night. They all apologized to me.”
“They even said they’ll take me back to Alwood Mountains in a while.”
When she said this, she hesitated for a moment before finally speaking up in a low voice,
“Flynn… can I show them the formula for Tempering Elixir?”
Flynn had already anticipated that Molly George would bring up this topic again and said sternly,
“Being a Grandmaster under my guidance or giving the formula for Tempering Elixir to your senior sisters… choose one.”
“Huh? Choose one?” Molly George fell into deep thought as she seriously considered it.
Flynn shook his head helplessly. “Molly… Do you really need to think about this? Can’t you live for yourself?”
Flynn sighed, “Fine… Show it to them, but remember not to leak it!”
He truly didn’t know what to do about Molly George.
She cared so much about other people’s feelings without thinking about herself at all.
It made it difficult for Flynn to understand why she only gave him a hard time!
“Really? Thank you! I will definitely ask my senior sisters to treat it as a treasure!”
“Flynn, let’s get started! Harriet Hamilton, give me a bag!”
Molly George suddenly became energetic and took a bag from Harriet Hamilton before starting to pick up pebbles by the riverside.
Harriet Hamilton overheard their conversation and felt slightly downcast.
She felt jealous of how well Flynn treated Molly George.
Flynn noticed her slight change in mood and smiled, “In a while, I’ll take you to the Hussain family’s house and get back the Elixir of Vigor.”
“Thank you, Flynn!” Harriet Hamilton’s eyes sparkled with joy as her mood instantly improved.
“Remember, we need big pebbles! The bigger, the better!”
Flynn couldn’t help but smile. The two women were so innocent and easy to please!
The environment around the Shadowstream River was pleasant and beautiful.
The water was clear as crystal. Gentle breezes blew across the surface, creating ripples.
The graceful figures of the two women appeared even more elegant amidst the lush green trees. Their long hair swayed gently in the breeze.
They lightly stepped on the shore barefooted as if merging with nature itself.
Their lively eyes radiated innocence while their gazes shimmered with youthful vigor.
As they picked up pebbles while happily playing around and chasing each other, their laughter rang out like wind chimes.
Flynn rarely had such leisure time; watching the lively figures of the two girls made his thoughts return fifteen years ago as his face darkened slightly.
He didn’t particularly like coming to the Shadowstream River because nearby there was the Lavender Creek, which almost took his mother’s life twenty years ago…
