The sounds of shouting and the low growls of beasts were already quite clear here.
Leo flipped his right hand, and two talismans popped up in his palm.
“These are fourth-level invisibility talismans. Once used, no one will easily detect us,” Leo whispered to Seraphina through a secret method.
After speaking, Leo handed one of the invisibility talismans to Seraphina.
After using the talismans, their bodies slowly faded from sight. The two then peeked outside.
They had reached the end of the ice valley, and the first thing that caught their eyes was a vast snowy field.
At the outer edge of the snowfield stood mountain peaks and stone walls.
When they saw the scene in the snowfield clearly, both of them were astonished.
In the middle of the vast snowfield was a massive pentagram array.
At each of the five points of the pentagram stood an elderly figure, nine meters above the ground.
Around these five figures and on the ground were numerous Heaven and Earth Rune Marks, creating a spectacular sight.
Three of the elders wore gray-white rune robes, while the other two donned an ice-white robe and a silver robe respectively, both covered in runes.
The elder in the ice-white rune robe had white hair, a gaunt face, and eyes as cold as an ancient icy pond. His face was equally frosty.
The elder in the silver rune robe was relatively taller, with silver hair and eyes that flickered with faint lightning.
There was no doubt that these two were Elder Frost and Elder Thunder from the Runecarver Sect.
As for the other three elders, judging by their aura, they were also high-level Spirit Saints.
At this moment, all five elders held thick black chains in their hands.
The other end of these black chains, at the center of the array, bound a towering seven to eight-meter-tall white beast.
The beast had a massive head resembling a lion’s, with antlers on top, tiger-like eyes, and a body covered in hard ice-white scales. Its four legs were powerful, and it had a long white tail.
“Lion’s head, antlers, tiger eyes… This is… a Frost Spirit Beast!” Leo thought in surprise.
The Frost Spirit Beast possessed the bloodline of the ancient Qilin divine beast and had formidable innate abilities.
It was said that if a Frost Spirit Beast fully awakened its bloodline power upon reaching adulthood, it could evolve into a Frost Qilin Beast, gaining the strength of a Demon King or even a Demon Saint.
Among the known beasts on the Awakened Continent, the Frost Spirit Beast’s innate abilities were top-tier, making them extremely rare and highly sought after by human Cultivators.
To find a Frost Spirit Beast on this island was unexpected.
Looking at the Frost Spirit Beast trapped in the pentagram array, Leo’s eyes sparkled with interest.
Since arriving in this world from Earth, this Frost Spirit Beast was the most gifted beast Leo had encountered.
If he could tame a Frost Spirit Beast as a spirit pet, it would be an enormous asset for any Cultivator.
At this moment, the Frost Spirit Beast within the pentagram array was in poor condition. The five thick black chains tightly bound its body. Many of its ice-white scales, as hard as millennia-old ice, were shattered, revealing deep bloody wounds.
The Frost Spirit Beast glared furiously at the five Runecarver Sect elders surrounding it in the array’s center.
“Frost Spirit Beast, my patience is limited. I do not wish to harm you further. If you agree to become my mount, I will release you immediately,” Elder Frost said slowly, his ancient eyes as cold as an icy pond fixed on the weakened Frost Spirit Beast.
The Frost Spirit Beast’s eyes widened with unyielding rage. “Despicable human Cultivator! I will never be your mount!” it roared defiantly.
With that, it took a step forward, causing the black chains to clink loudly.
From his hidden position, Leo heard Elder Frost and the Frost Spirit Beast’s conversation, and his brow furrowed slightly.
The Frost Spirit Beast had Qilin bloodline and immense talent. Not just Elder Frost-anyone would desire such a mount.
However, with its ancient divine beast bloodline, how could it willingly become a human Cultivator’s mount? Especially when these human Cultivators were merely at the Spirit Saint level.
The Frost Spirit Beast’s refusal made Elder Frost’s expression darken instantly.
“Frost Spirit Beast, if you become my mount, I am willing to use all of Runecarver Sect’s resources to help you awaken your bloodline and reach Demon King level. How about that?” Elder Frost said patiently, suppressing his anger.
“Stop dreaming! I will never submit to you despicable human Cultivators!” The Frost Spirit Beast roared without hesitation.
Boom!
In its fury, the Frost Spirit Beast mobilized its inner demon power, causing the temperature in the ice valley to plummet further.
At that moment, the five black chains binding it emitted a dull glow.
The ice-white light around the Frost Spirit Beast instantly dimmed by half. Pain filled its eyes as it roared continuously.
Ice-white light exploded from the Frost Spirit Beast’s body. In an instant, a massive ice spike formed and shot through the void towards Elder Frost. Seeing this, Elder Frost’s face froze. With a disdainful sneer, he quickly formed a spell with his right hand.
Hundreds of ice-white runes in the array glowed brightly.
A giant ice-white hand appeared from the void and grasped the massive ice spike firmly.
With a forceful squeeze from the giant hand, the ice spike shattered into shards that fell like snowflakes.
After launching its attack, the thick black chains tightened further around the Frost Spirit Beast’s body.
“Frost Spirit Beast, these chains are made of starfall black iron and can restrict spiritual power. You cannot break free.”
“The more demon power you use now, the tighter these chains will bind you. Struggling is futile; you should accept your fate.”
Elder Frost’s voice was cold as he stared at the Frost Spirit Beast.
“Despicable humans! I would rather die in battle than submit to you!” The Frost Spirit Beast roared defiantly as it struggled.
Elder Frost’s face turned completely frosty.
“Elder Frost, mere words won’t make this beast submit,” Elder Thunder said impatiently with a frown.
Elder Frost knew reasoning was futile. Staring coldly at the Frost Spirit Beast, he said, “Stubborn beast! Since you refuse to submit willingly, I will torture you until you’re on the brink of death and then forcibly imprint you with a beast seal. You will submit whether you want to or not!”
After speaking and realizing that reasoning was of no use, Elder Frost cast a quick glance at Elder Thunder and the other three elders. Then, with a cold determination, he shouted loudly, “Summon Runeblade!”
At each of the five points of the pentagram array, Elder Frost, Elder Thunder, and the three other elders simultaneously formed identical spells with their left hands.
As their spell seals changed, brilliant light burst forth from the pentagram array.
