“Why are you suddenly panting” Wayne chuckled finally pulling up to a beautiful garden surrounding a dock.
“Are you scared” he whispered turning to face me with a wide grin.
“No” I lied through my teeth, my heart was pounding in my chest, of course, I was scared.
“Don’t you trust me?” he asked and I instantly shook my head, “I don’t know you enough to trust you” I protested and he chuckled.
“I hope you will learn to trust me, in the future” he smirked and I rolled my eyes.
“I was thinking we could enjoy a boat cruise” he explained getting out of the car and opening the door for me.
“Let me get this straight, your idea of a first date with a girl is taking her to a boat in the middle of nowhere?” I wondered out loud.
“Yes, is that so terrible,” Wayne asked and I nodded.
“Worst idea I have ever heard, it also gives serial killer vibes” I spoke my mind and he chuckled.
“What if I am?” He teased glancing at me with a smile tucked at the corner of his lips.
“I also don’t think it’s something you should joke about” I warned feeling my legs shake immediately. As I thought about the possibility.
“I am sorry, I am just joking” Wayne apologized, pulling a lever and revealing a beautiful well lit Yatch.
“I just want this night to be special” he explained in the most sincere voice, the light from the background illuminating his face and making him look extremely handsome.
“It’s fine” I sighed, as he extended his hands to me, guiding me to a beautiful small yatch.
As we moved closer to the yacht I realized it wasn’t empty, as the beautiful melody of a violin filled the air and the sweet aroma of freshly made food.
“My lady,” he said helping me get on the yacht before guiding me to a well-placed dining table.
“Good evening, welcome, this is your menu for the evening, if you have any special requests please tell the chef,” A woman in a chef costume said, approaching the table and placing menu cards on it.
‘well, this is amazing” I thought to myself looking at the violinist, before staring at the captain on board they were both also women.
“I hope this clears that I am not a serial killer” he whispered to me pulling out a chair and sitting opposite me.
“Well” I stuttered trying not to blush too obviously, it was the most romantic thing anyone had ever done.
“I can’t say for sure until I am home safely” I teased and he nodded.
“Have you decided Ma’am?” The chef said walking towards us, as I quickly schemed through the menu, choosing the butter lamb chops with mashed potatoes.
“Yes,” I said pointing at the card, before handing it to her.
“Nice choice,” she said smiling to me with a warm smile before turning to Wayne.
“The same thing,” he said not bothering to find out what I chose.
“Wine?” Wayne asked popping open a bottle of white wine and pouring a glass for me.
“Thank you” I replied taking a sip of the wine before putting the glass down.
“Can I ask you a question, Emily?” Wayne asked taking a sip from his glass too.
“Sure” I nodded narrowing my eyes at him.
“Did I do something right? I honestly didn’t think you would ever agree to even coffee with me let alone dinner” he asked with a wide grin and hopeful eyes.
“Is there a reason you have been persistent about going on a date with me?” I asked diverting the question, the only true reason I was on this date was to get Ethan’s attention.
“Well yes,” he said not bothered that I didn’t answer his earlier question.
“I am a plastic surgeon and I have seen a lot of women” As he explained I rolled my eyes, was he trying to brag i wondered.
“Let me finish” he pleaded with me I guess noticing my expression.
“Sure” I frowned.
“I have never seen a woman who took my breath away like you did that day and when I saw you, I just knew that if I didn’t do everything in my power to get a chance with you, then I was a damn fool,” he said and my face curved into a blush.
“O! You are good with words,” I said giggling at his words, he sounded like a smooth player.
“I guess it comes with the job, because damn” I continued trying not to blush too much as my face turned red.
“How many people have you used this line on?” I wondered trying so hard not to let his sweet words get to me. ‘men are scum’ I reminded myself.
“Honestly just you” he lied, “can I ask you though, what you were doing at the hospital, you looked distressed,” he asked and my smile faded.
“That’s a little personal” I shrugged as the chef brought in our food.
“O! I understand” he replied taking back his question and focusing on the meal now on the table.
As I took a bite, I felt terrible about diverting all his questions. “Well, I was looking for a therapist” I blurted, his question seemed pretty genuine and I saw no reason to hide my truth.
“O!” He exclaimed and I nodded.
“I recently lost someone and It was unbearable, I was looking for a therapist to help me heal,” I said taking a bite of the mashed potatoes and stuffing them in my mouth.
“Someone you loved?” He asked and I nodded.
“something like that, someone important to me” I replied with my mouth full. The last thing I wanted was to say more.
“I am sorry,” he said in a softened tone as he extended his hands to touch mine, I tried to move my hands away but his grip was tighter than I thought and his soft hands felt comfortable.
“I know what it feels like to lose a loved one, my parents were killed when I was seven, before my very eyes,” he said and my heart broke for him.
“O! I am so sorry” I said clutching his fist and letting him hold me.
The room was quiet for a while before a voice suddenly said “Bo hoo, what is this supposed to be, tales of the bereaved” I heard a voice say from the dock and I turned to find Gloria behind me.
My heart skipped at the sight of her.
“What?” I was about to speak when she interrupted again.
“Cut the act Wayne, we are in the clear now, Ethan’s tracker was disabled almost 10 minutes ago,” she said and I felt confused.
“What is going on” I asked feeling my heart raced as I turned to Wayne who just stood from his chair walking towards Gloria.
I looked around the boat noticing we were in the middle of the sea, I didn’t even notice when the boat started moving.
“What is going on here,” I said suddenly feeling out of breath.
“What do you think is going on here Emily?” Gloria snarled.
“Did you really think you could kill my only son without facing any consequences”
