Jayson’s POV
“We have a lot to talk about, Jayson.” Alphonso said in a cold voice as he looked at me.
He forced out a smile before looking at the ladies. “I see you folks are having a great ladies’ time together.” He grinned as he looked at Grace who looked sober now.
“Come on, Grace. Why the sober look now? What is wrong again?” He shrugged as he walked down to where Grace stood.
“You should be happy that he is finally home, and not keep this sober face of yours. At least, he would be joining in the banquet.” He shrugged as he pecked her forehead.
“Now, go on, Grace. Smile.” He mumbled as he smiled broadly, making Grace force out a smile.
I still couldn’t get my eyes for so long from Emilia and whenever I turned to her direction, she was fast enough to roll her eyes away.
I expected nothing much either. I knew that I was definitely going to be the last person she would ever want to set her eyes on again.
“You can choose to tag along with me or, you stay and spend some time with your sister but may I remind you, that she is having a ladies’ time.” He said in a whisper as he looked at me, then he chuckled softly.
“I think I will just stay here for a while because I have got to go somewhere soon.” I mumbled, wearing a smile that reciprocated his.
“Going somewhere? Isn’t that unthoughtful of you, Jayson. You just got back to New Kingston and you are already setting up important meetings?” He sneered, showing off his strong disapproval.
“Come on, Alphonso. I just need to say hello to a few friends, and get myself some clothes for the banquet tomorrow.” I muttered as I turned to look at Grace and also, I saw her disapproval as well.
“Okay. Okay, fine. I won’t be going again.” I forced out a smile as I tilted my lips, then I looked at Grace who now looked satisfied as she had this little smile on her face.
“So, where are the boys?” I asked as I looked at Grace.
She looked at me as she couldn’t say a single word as tears settled in her eyes. I was fully aware that Liam wasn’t her favorite but then, she still had this affection and concern when it came to him.
I guess it was natural. But then, Liam was Alphonso’s favorite son, and he would do anything just to make sure Liam gets whatever his heart solemnly desires.
“Liam…” She whimpered as she looked at me. “You know, I remember how you both were fond of each other. I wish you stayed, maybe things wouldn’t have turned the way it did turn, Jayson.” She whined as she cleaned her tears.
“What are you talking about?” I chuckled in a confused state. It was all staged, but who cares? I scowled within as I looked at Stephanie and Grace who were already getting set to sympathize with me.
“Liam is dead. He was murdered alongside Pedro and up till now, it’s impossible to find his killer. I… I wish.”
“What? Liam is dead?” I snapped as I got up from where I sat down. “He… killer?” I stuttered as I looked at Grace whose tears were already rolling down her cheeks.
If being dramatic was a person, then I guess I was fit for the award. I paused for a while, remaining silent as I looked at her.
Tears settled inside my eyes and within a minute, they were already getting close to my cheeks.
“Come on, it’s been almost three months already.” She sneered as she forced out a smile. “Crying won’t bring him back, Jayson.” She chuckled softly as she looked at me. “So please, no crying again. Tomorrow is a special day for the six founding families, and we can’t end up having bulky eyes because of this.” She smiled as she got up from the chair she was seated on, then she returned back to where Stephanie and Emilia were seated down.
I sat down on the couch behind as I kept staring at Emilia from behind as she was now having a chit chat with Grace and Stephanie.
“How the actual fuck does she still look like some sweet sixteen? Fuck!” I groaned as I couldn’t stop staring at her.
At this point, all I ever wanted now was to find a way and talk to her but then, from her facial expression, it was obvious that she wasn’t interested in me and after all, she was now with Ian Eriksson.
I rolled my eyes as I unlocked my phone. I went through my gram as I saw Mason’s chat pop up.
“Good morning, boss! Current location: Moscow. Collins Morgan.”
I read through his three line text. “Moscow?” I furrowed my eyebrows.
Last time I checked, Moscow was another awesome place to be in when you decide to pay New Kingston a visit.
Guess it was time to pay a visit there. I grinned as I got up from my chair.
“Going somewhere?” Grace muttered the moment I got close to the exit door.
I paused as I groaned, then I forced out a smile before turning round to look at her.
“Umm, yeah. Something important came up.” I shrugged as I looked at her.
“At least, can’t you drop everything for today?” She scowled as she looked at me. “You haven’t even stayed for an hour, and you are already doing your best to leave.” She sneered as she stared at me.
“I was wondering, why don’t I give you beautiful ladies some privacy?” I grinned as I looked at the three of them.
I guess Stephanie was still more than fascinated about me. She seemed cooler than the last time we knew each other.
“Okay then, fine!!” Grace scowled as she looked away.
“I promise I will be back before the moon is out.” I mumbled.
“Do whatever you want. Anyways, you’re no longer a kid.” She said in a cold voice as she continued her conversation with them.
I rolled my eyes as I turned to leave.
