Lucian had actually appeared!
I watched as he walked in, came up to me, and stood in front of me, blocking my way.
He looked at Vivienne with the stance of a protector.
Was he protecting me?
Instead of feeling moved, I found it ironic.
I would never forget what happened before we broke up.
I would never forget how I felt back then, how happy I had been.
I had brought a cake, hoping to celebrate with Lucian, only to find him in bed with Vivienne.
I would never forget that scene for as long as I lived.
That moment of falling from heaven into hell still made my heart ache whenever I thought about it.
No one could go through that kind of pain without feeling hurt.
At least, that was how I felt.
“Lucian, what are you doing? Protecting her? Have you forgotten how good we were that night? You fucked me five times!” Vivienne sneered.
She seemed utterly baffled by Lucian’s act of standing in front of me to shield me.
“Vivienne, I don’t like you. We were just a one-night thing. It’s Seraph I love.”
Hearing him call my name so intimately made my stomach churn, and a wave of nausea washed over me.
I really didn’t understand why he was putting on this act now.
He didn’t cherish me when we were together, and now that he’d lost me, he was full of regret?
I turned and walked away, wanting nothing to do with them.
Seeing me leave, Lucian immediately chased after me and grabbed my hand.
“Seraph, wait, I need to talk to you.”
“I don’t want to talk to you,” I said, swinging the mop in my hand at him, hoping he’d let go.
But Lucian’s strength was overwhelming. As a boxer, his grip felt like iron, and no matter how much I struggled, I couldn’t break free.
“Seraph, just give me two minutes, okay? I have a match today. Can you cheer for me? This match is really important…”
Before I could respond, another voice cut in.
“Seraphina is here to cheer for me. Who do you think you are?”
It was Kael! His tone was haughty and clearly displeased, as if he wanted to crush Lucian. His presence exuded authority.
Before I could say anything, Kael pulled me over.
The world spun around me, and when I regained my senses, I was in his arms.
His broad, firm chest felt like steel, locking me in place.
The heavy scent of his cologne wafted over me, along with his warm breath through the thin fabric of his robe.
In that moment, my tension eased.
It felt like I was safe in his embrace, untouchable by anyone.
“Kael…” Lucian frowned at him. “Please let go of my girlfriend.”
His face showed clear annoyance, as if he was deeply unhappy.
“Your girlfriend? Seraphina, is he your boyfriend?” Kael asked, looking down at me.
I immediately denied it. “No, we broke up a long time ago.”
“I don’t agree. Seraph, I never agreed to break up with you.”
“What gives you the right to disagree? Weren’t you the one who cheated?” I shouted.
I hated how Lucian kept clinging to me. He was the one who’d messed up. What right did he have to not let go?
“I’m sorry, Seraph. Really, if you’ll just come back to me, I’ll do anything you want.” Lucian’s voice was pleading.
By now, people nearby had noticed the commotion and were looking our way.
Even though there weren’t many people in the training area, there were still some moving about.
Kael was the star of the boxing club, and Vivienne was a crowd favorite.
With both of them here, I knew the number of onlookers would only grow.
I didn’t want people to know about my relationship with Kael. It would only cause me more trouble.
So, I struggled out of Kael’s embrace and said to Lucian, “Stay away from me. Really, if you don’t want me to hate you, just stay away!”
With that, I grabbed my cleaning tools and left.
I knew I had to find another part-time job soon. I couldn’t stay here anymore. It would only bring me more trouble.
Even though I had walked away, I could still feel their eyes on my back.
Why had an ordinary girl like me gotten caught up in this storm?
Why had I become the center of it?
God, I had never imagined things would turn out like this.
Despite my terrible mood, I had to keep working.
Without money, survival would be even harder.
Next, I went to clean another training room, hoping I wouldn’t run into anyone else.
But soon, footsteps sounded behind me. I turned and saw Kael approaching.
He was back!
I instantly felt irritated.
“Seraphina, don’t be nervous. I’m not here to do anything. I just want you to be happy,” Kael said carefully, his deep brown eyes fixed on me, as if trying to read my emotions.
“I know, but Kael, can you please stop appearing in front of me? It’s really frustrating,” I sighed. “You’re a big star. Everyone’s eyes are on you. What happened between us hasn’t completely died down yet. I don’t want to be targeted and criticized again.”
I hated being treated like an outsider, hated being the center of attention.
“I understand, but Seraphina, tonight’s match is really important to me. Can you cheer for me? Not for Lucian.”
I could hear the plea in Kael’s voice.
I couldn’t help but look at him and saw a pitiful expression in his eyes.
Was he suffering because of my connection to Lucian?
“Kael, I think there are plenty of girls around you. Maybe you don’t need to focus on me,” I said. Though his physical presence was alluring, I didn’t want to get sucked in any deeper.
He was a werewolf, and the thought of that still scared me.
“Seraphina, that’s not possible. I only want you. Maybe you don’t know this, but a werewolf only falls for one person in their lifetime-someone both the man and the wolf love.”
Kael stepped forward and hugged me again.
He was so domineering, and his overwhelming strength left me no room to resist.
In that moment, I felt a powerful surge of emotion. I couldn’t quite describe it, but I felt an urge to hug him back.
