Chapter 876: A Grand Gift

Book:Married The Day We Met Published:2025-2-27

Before Charlotte’s art exhibition, Callie sent Eliza abroad. Officially, it was to handle a project, and no one accompanied her.
During these days, she had ordered a cheongsam and needed to get her measurements taken personally. The shop was found with Jamir’s help, located in a hidden address, and the tailor was a renowned designer in Ylosea.
The measurement process was tedious, taking a full two hours to complete.
The designer flattered her, “Miss Marsh, you have a great figure for a cheongsam. Have you worn one before?”
Callie shook her head.
“What a pity. Let’s choose a color.”
Over the years, Callie had avoided complicated clothing, preferring simplicity. This was the first time she seriously ordered a custom cheongsam for herself, so she was particularly attentive.
“Magnolia white, I like it.”
Her fingers paused on a piece of fabric.
In fact, she rarely wore white clothes over the years. She had to work and take care of Reuben, making it easy to get dirty.
This was the first time.
“Miss Marsh has good taste. White suits you.”
Callie listened without speaking. “When can I see the finished garment?”
“By Saturday. However, once it’s done, you’ll need to come in for a fitting. Adjustments can be made if necessary.”
“I trust you and Jamir’s judgment.” Callie smiled and swiped her card.
Before leaving, Callie walked downstairs and encountered an acquaintance. The person carried a Chanel bag and was followed by several people. As they ascended the stairs, they looked up.
They met face-to-face.
The former looked surprised and instinctively paused on the stairs. “It’s you.”
Callie stood on the stairs. “Miss Ellison is here for a fitting too.”
Charlotte clutched the bag’s chain. “Yes, Nelson ordered it for me as a birthday gift.”
Her and Nelson’s tastes were quite similar.
Callie remained calm. “A birthday? When is it?”
Charlotte’s eyes showed some hesitation. “Saturday. I remember my mother invited you.”
“Saturday?” Callie repeated.
Charlotte’s gaze became firm. “Yes.”
“Can I come? To celebrate your birthday.” Callie smiled broadly as if she knew nothing.
Charlotte didn’t answer immediately but said, “A few days ago at the jewelry exhibition, Miss Marsh also came uninvited.”
Callie nodded. “True, you invited Jamir. I’ll come with him then.”
With that, she smiled.
Charlotte tightened her grip on the chain, her palms sweating slightly.
“You and Jamir seem to have an unusual relationship.”
“He’s my boyfriend.”
Charlotte looked surprised and squinted her eyes. “Does Nelson know?”
She regretted asking as soon as she did because Callie showed an amused smile. “If you know, doesn’t he know too?”
With that, she stepped down the stairs. As she brushed past Charlotte, she stopped and whispered, “Don’t worry, I won’t come empty-handed. On your birthday, I’ll bring a grand gift.”
These words were ordinary, but they sent chills down Charlotte’s spine.
Callie continued walking away until she disappeared around the corner.
Charlotte turned around and stared at her fading figure, her palms sweating continuously.
“Miss, what’s wrong?” a servant asked.
Charlotte pursed her lips impatiently. “Tissue!”
The servant was startled and quickly took out tissues from the bag and handed them over. Charlotte wiped her hands vigorously while climbing the stairs and then threw the sweat-stained bag into the trash can, filled with anger and impatience.
Everyone was taken aback.
The designers exchanged glances; clearly, this young lady had quite a temper.
