Just as Sarina wished, she pursued studying medicine. She started a bit late and had to catch up with her classmates, making her early days extremely busy. The kids were excited when we told them. Chase, who understood the most, was incredibly happy for his mother.
Sarina worried about our children, but Lisa assured her they would take care of everything in her absence. As the boss of my own company, I could look after our kids whenever necessary.
“Relax, my wife. Everything will be fine, so just focus on your studies, okay?” She nodded and smiled at me before kissing my lips sweetly.
I accompanied her to her therapy sessions with Dr. Miraez. During that time, I felt useless, as I hadn’t realized that Sarina, too, could break down like anyone else. I was a fool to think that the superwoman in my life had no weaknesses, despite knowing the horrors she had endured at the hands of those cruel people.
One day, she came to my office to apologize to Lavinia. Her face flushed with embarrassment, but I was grateful that my secretary understood my wife’s situation.
The lipstick did belong to Lavinia. It happened when we were at Luxuria with her boyfriend, Aries. She tripped and accidentally fell on me. I didn’t notice anything after that since I wore my coat when we left the hotel and headed home.
Now, I was the one picking Sarina up from the university. Knowing the traffic, I made the adjustment. I went straight to the College of Medicine, where she was, to wait for her. She didn’t know about it, as she usually booked a ride or used Angkas because it was faster, according to her.
I saw her exit the building when I noticed a man called her attention. She turned and smiled as they greeted each other. Because of the distance, I couldn’t hear what they were talking about, but how she smiled at him made me feel jealous. After more than a month of exercising, her body had changed. She had been waking up so early to do it, and I joined her.
I took a deep breath before approaching her, but she suddenly left with the man. I knew I shouldn’t jump to conclusions-her classmates were young, after all-but still, fuck! My wife was beautiful, and just because she was older didn’t mean no one would be attracted to her. Quickly, I pulled my phone from my pocket and called her. I could still see her, but she didn’t answer even after turning down a hallway.
I let out a frustrated sigh, unsure of what to do. What was this feeling? I knew she loved me, so I should be calm.
I decided to wait for her outside the building, thinking she might have forgotten something. But after an hour of waiting, there was still no sign of her. I noticed some students glancing at me as they passed, making me uneasy.
“Hi, who are you waiting for?” a woman asked. “I’ve been watching you, but whoever it is, isn’t coming.”
I smiled at her and replied, “I’m waiting for my wife.”
“Is she a professor here?”
“No, a student.” She looked me up and down, and I knew I was still a good-looking man. But compared to the younger male students, I was clearly older.
“Are you a sugar daddy to one of the students here?” she asked, and I frowned.
“I think I made it clear-I’m waiting for my WIFE,” I emphasized the last word, hoping it would sink in.
“Oh, don’t be shy. Many students here latch onto older men to pay for their education. And I must say, whoever she is, she’s lucky. You’re quite yummy to look at.” She glanced at my car before continuing, “It seems you’re loaded.”
She try to touched my chest, and I quickly stepped back. “Wow, you’re loyal, too! I’d yank the hair out of whoever landed you.”
“Try it, and you’ll find yourself in a police station,” I warned, my patience thin. I couldn’t believe there were students like this now. Sure, there were sugar daddies back then, but not this blatant. Thanks to this woman’s attitude, it was as if this kind of behavior was being flaunted now.
Before she could say more, I saw Sarina walking toward me with a smile, holding her phone to her ear. At the same time, my phone rang.
I didn’t take my eyes off her as I reached for my phone and then look on the screen and saw her name. The woman turned to see Sarina approaching us.
As Sarina passed by, she raised an eyebrow at the woman before smiling sweetly at me. “How was your day, my wife?” I asked.
“Never better, especially since you’re here to pick me up,” she replied with a grin.
Without another word, I pulled her into a deep kiss right in front of the woman who clearly had no respect for herself. “Come on, our eight kids are waiting for us.”
I chuckled at her comment. Since she was the boss, I stepped aside and opened the car door for her. I also buckled her seatbelt and turned to the woman before closing the door. “If anything bad happens to my wife, you’ll pay tenfold.”
I walked to the driver’s seat, smiling again at Sarina before driving home.
“That student seemed to like you a lot,” she teased, raising an eyebrow at me.
“She’s nothing compared to you. I doubt she could ever be a superwoman.” Sarina burst out laughing, and I joined her. I took her hand and kissed it.
“By the way, who was that guy with you earlier?” I asked nervously.
“Earlier?” she asked.
“Yes, when I called you. I saw you with a man.”
“Oh, that was Jonas, my classmate. Our professor sent him after me because she had questions for me.”
“Why did it take so long?”
“We discussed the report I’ll present next week. She was impressed with my last one, and many classmates liked it too. So, she explained the scope of the lesson so I could prepare.”
“Doesn’t she know you have eight rambunctious kids waiting for you and a husband eager to have you to himself?” I grumbled.
She laughed loudly at my words, which annoyed me. She had been so busy with her studies lately that sometimes I felt she only indulged me out of obligation, as she often got up to study right after we were done.
“It’s just a few more years, and then everything will be fine,” she said, and I took a deep breath, kissing her hand again. I loved her so much that I was willing to support her, even if she looked exhausted.
“I’m sorry for ranting, my wife. Don’t worry, I’ll be more understanding. As long as you’re happy and can handle it, I’ll always support you.”
“Thank you, my husband,” she said with a smile.
“I love you, my wife.”
“I love you too, Maximus Lardizabal.”
