Clark’s POV.
I sat down on my chair, as I kept on spinning on my chair. I couldn’t get my eyes off her and all the incidents that occurred. “Darn it, Clark. You need to focus, man!!’ I groaned as I lowered my head, then I continued with my work but then, within a few minutes, my head was up again as I kept on staring at her.
I got up as I walked down to the door. All I could hear my wolf saying loudly in my head was, ‘meet her,’ ‘go say something at least to her,’ ‘can’t you see? She’s also attracted to you!!’ And the worst thing my wolf did right now was to keep replaying how my hand had greased her butt, making my cheeks flutter even more.
I looked at my blank screen as I brushed up my face with my hands. I tapped my keyboard, bringing up the screen light again as I started arranging the directory containing every hotel and resort in New Kingston. It was a long research trying to get all the records and also, their websites, their contact information, and their mission statement.
Rex was working on renovating The Eleven hotel and resort, to achieve that, he wanted to have a deep knowledge of what the other top leading hotels were doing. I raised my eyebrows and my eyes met with her, making me shudder in coldness as I quickly looked away.
“Why do I feel weak all of a sudden? What’s so special about her that is making me get edgy?” I groaned as I looked at her as she was now focusing on her desk and arranging it. “Or is it because of all the embarrassments you had to go through because of her?” I shrugged as I knocked off the thoughts immediately.
I couldn’t concentrate and all I could process right now was approaching her and talking things through with her and if possible, maybe, apologizing to her as well. “What if she thinks I was trying to flirt with her and also seduce her?” I whimpered at the thought of it as I got up from my chair, then I walked down to where she was seated.
“Hmm. That’s strange. I guess within the years, a lot has changed, from the aesthetic Clark to a nude Clark.”
It wasn’t something I usually do but whenever I am nervous or should I say edgy, I tend to use my werewolf abilities to eavesdrop on people’s conversations. That was the only way I could feel alright after the whole sickening period of enduring everything.
“Darn it! Darn it!!” I cursed as I overheard Elena’s remark. I fluttered even more knowing that she had seen my wallpaper when I had unlocked my phone. And the worst thing now was the fact that I just overheard Elena’s voice, which meant they were discussing me already.
I stood beside her as I waited quietly for her to continue with her call but then, she ended the call immediately as she looked at my wrapped fingers which I had placed on her work desk.
I saw her cheeks flutter too which made me grin, feeling victorious for a while as she fumbled before me again.
She jolted up immediately as she looked up and she greeted me. She had pushed down her table calendar mistakenly and it amused me further as I watched her roll her eyes in frustration. She forced out a smile.
I lowered myself a bit as I picked up the calendar and I smiled as I could hear how fast her heart was pounding. “Guess it was something mutual after all.” I chuckled as I raised up my head and dropped the calendar on her work desk back.
I frowned as I maintained eye contact with her. “I heard you are new to the finance department?” I queried as I kept staring at her.
“Yes, Sir. I am!!” She responded immediately as she maintained eye contact with me as well.
“Okay then, from now on, you will answer directly to me. I am the head of the finance department.” I said in a husky voice in a serious tone as I looked at her.
“Huh?” She gasped at me this time around as her eyes went wide as she looked at me.
I could see the shock which was boldly written on her face and it did nothing but make me happy.
“Yes!” I responded as I looked at her. I was still wearing my frown as I couldn’t mess it up, and right now, I still didn’t know how to apologize for greasing her butt and letting her know it was truly unintentional.
“But..” She stuttered as she stared at me. “I… I thought you already had a personal assistant.” She fumbled as she tilted her lips with her eyes fixed to mine like she was doing her best to have me change my mind.
“Umm, yes!” I responded with a grin this time around as I tapped my fingers on her work desk. “His position has been revoked. Since you are new to the finance department, I will love to keep you close and also, pay close attention and groom you as well.” I snapped as I looked at her simple shirt and my eyes slowly went down to her black skirt.
I saw her become uneasy with the way I was staring at her but then, I couldn’t help but stare at her simple dressing.
“Are you okay?” I snapped as she looked at me again.
“Yeah, I am!!” She said in a serious tone.
Before I could utter another word, my phone rang. My caller ID had popped up, Rex. “Why is he calling me at this crucial point?” I groaned as I forced out a smile, then I looked at her for the last time.
“So, from now on, your office is there.” I pointed to the work desk which was just a stone throw from mine.
