Book:The Alpha's Hot Chase After Divorce Published:2025-2-25

Alicia’s POV
Eyes fell on us as we walked down on the red carpeted floor. I felt cold chills in my spine as we walked down. I shrugged as I kept looking down like I was scared.
“Come on, my love…”
“What?” I felt myself sprawling inside like I was about falling apart. “Did he just call me ‘love.’ Is he trying to flirt with me?” I snapped as I raised my head a bit to see how much is left before we get to the chair meant for us as the prom king and queen.
“Can you keep your heart calm at least? I can hear how fast it is pounding right now. Are you shy? Oh! Nervous?” He asked as he looked at me.
I raised my head as I looked at him. He was wearing a broad smile. He was used to the spotlight lifestyle, not me.
Right now, I was feeling all tense. I prayed the ground could just open and swallow me.
“Or, are you scared of someone here? Is anyone threatening you, my love?” He asked in a considerate tone as he paused.
I stopped too as I raised my eyes. I looked at him and I felt my heartbeat spike this time around and next, followed by this soothing calmness.
“Why is he being too caring towards me?” I asked within as I chuckled softly. “If he is trying to make me one of those pawns, he definitely is getting it all wrong because there is absolutely no way I’m going to fall for his cheap tricks.” I sneered as I looked away.
“I’m fine. I’m fine, Logan!!” I responded as I looked at Amelia who was busy staring at us and smiling sheepishly.
“Are you sure about that?” Logan asked again as he looked at me.
This time around, his eyes were sternly piercing through my eyes like he was searching for the answers in them.
“I said I’m fine. You don’t have to be too caring!!” I sighed as I groaned, then I looked at him.
I saw the hurt that came with my words but then, it was too late to take it back as it had already spoiled his mood.
I saw the frown that soon overshadowed his face as he looked away and continued his walk.
He remained quiet till we reached where we sat, and the hype man that they had brought proceeded with the prom party.
The hall became noisy and filled with students. And people were scattered all over the place, and some were on the dance floor as they danced and had their fun.
And this time around, I saw Amelia at the other end with one new, stunning guy. He looked really familiar but then, I couldn’t say where exactly we had met.
I shook my head as I looked away. Amelia seemed to have forgotten that I needed all of her attention, and Jessica, she kept staring at us and I could clearly tell why.
“Who wouldn’t fall for Logan Bohen? He wasn’t just a sexy, sunburned, auburn haired, Greek god-like looking young man, but he was also from one of the most powerful werewolf families in New Kingston and currently, the heir to the Bohen’s Bureau.”
Logan’s eyes remained unsettled as he kept scanning the hall like he was scouting.
“Why is he looking around? Is he expecting someone? Is anything wrong?” I asked within as I couldn’t gather the courage to ask him why he was looking around.
“Uhmm, please can you excuse me? Want to use the restroom.”
I said as I excused myself after he granted me the permission to go.
“Hey, hello gorgeous?” An unfamiliar voice muttered, and before I could make a move, his right hand pinned me on the wall, sending cold chills down my spine.
“I see you are having a great time with your prom king, Logan Bohen.” He shrugged as he got closer to me.
And this time around, his left fingers rubbed my face as I tried pulling off.
“Come on, beautiful. You don’t have to be scared.” He smiled, exposing his teeth that had braces.
As I tried pushing him away, he pinned my hand to the wall as he went ahead to kiss me but then, he was stopped by someone with a familiar scent, “Logan?” I said excitedly as I saw Logan.
The boy had taken off and Logan waited outside till I was done as we returned back to the hall.
“Hope he didn’t harm you?” He said as he squinted his eyes as he scanned through my body.
Finally, it came for the Prom king and the Prom queen to dance as the others were sent off the dance floor.
The chandelier went out and just dim lights were on, making it almost impossible to see the face of your partner unless you both were up close.
The hall became calm as a gentle song played in the background. I could see his eyes fixed to mine as he moved slowly.
I felt his hot breath on me, and I got a little bit uneasy and I kept praying that my heels wouldn’t break too.
“Can this party be over at least?” I groaned as I looked away, doing my best to avoid making eye contact with him.
The ladies mostly were vibing to the song, but all I could think of was getting rid of these clothes which I wasn’t comfortable in and also, exposing my body.
He bit his lower lip as he looked at me.
“Mate!?” He called out as I freaked out as well immediately.
And before I could compose myself, the shock I went through hearing him call me mate had me tripping down as my right heel broke, and I fell to his arm as he held my waist, and his eyes locked with mine.
“Did he just call me mate? What trick is he playing now?” I sneered as I couldn’t get my eyes off him now.
