Rex’s POV.
I drove into the garage as I rushed out to open her door as well.
Clark had given me a thumbs up thrice already.
“Fuck!!” I growled as I ignored him. “He will definitely get seen and what next? Ruin my perfect night with Elena.” I snapped as I pressed the elevator’s button as we used it to get to the top floor.
“Welcome!” I said with a smile as I opened the door as she walked in.
I felt my heart racing really fast now and at some point, I felt this was completely a wrong idea.
“Here! Have a seat.” I muttered as I stood directly opposite her now.
I loved how beautiful her lipstick was and it perfectly suited her red gown and brown hat, which hung one-sided.
“How have you been?” I finally broke the silence as I looked at her.
I felt her heartbeat pause for a while as she raised her eyebrows, looking right into my eyes which only made my heart to flutter again.
I gradually felt uneasy again. I was getting nervous.
“I have been fine.” She responded briefly, still had a straight face and she showed no interest at all to have any conversation with me.
“Don’t push further, Rex. Come on, there are many other things to talk about.” Clark scowled using our mind link.
I cleared my throat as I turned on the TV.
“When I came to New Kingston, I never thought I would see you.” I shrugged as I looked at her. “I… I hoped throughout all these years that I would someday bump into you and fix everything I ruined.” I added as I maintained eye contact with her but her eyes were fixed to the TV instead.
“I never expected to see you here either and worst of it all, stalking me.” She scowled as she looked at me for the first time since we got inside.
My cheeks flushed as it got a bit red.
“Why are you here then? To take my kids away from me?” She asked in a cold voice as she maintained her eye contact with me now.
“If that is what you want, then I’m sorry to disappoint you that they can never go with you. They were born here in New Kingston and they will grow here as well.” She snapped as she looked away.
I felt this sharp pain digging deep as I tried to maintain the smiley face I was carrying on.
“Mother has missed you. She would always call to know if I have found you.” I said calmly as I looked at her.
“Don’t you think you are taking things too fast? Talk about New Kingston. No, talk about the kids. It’s obvious she loves them.” Clark snapped, still using the mind link.
“Can you stop talking? You will only make me more nervous and stop eavesdropping on our conversation!!” I scowled as I blocked him half way through his speech.
“I don’t plan to take Kanu and Kiana from you, I want to fix us. I… I’m sorry for what I did, I’m sorry for cheating on you!!” I sobbed this time around as I exhaled gently. “I was desperate, I needed a son. I never knew she was only there because she hated you and hated me even more for being with you.” I mumbled.
“And what did you do? Send me out of my pack? You never cared, Rex. You never did!!” She snarled angrily this time around as she looked at me.
“All I ever did was to love you. I trusted you with everything but what happened? You broke me and now you are here trying to get back into my life?” She scoffed as she looked at me.
“Why are you back? Why are you here exactly? What do you want from me, Rex? What do you want?” She yelled as she got up from where she sat down.
“I am back because of you. I am in New Kingston because of you and because of my kids. And I want you… I want you back, Elena. I know I don’t deserve your forgiveness but at least, for the kids. They would be safe with me, with us being together back in our pack, Elena.” I mumbled as I looked at her.
“No… no… they are safe here. For five years, I have been there for them. I have stood by them. I have been their mother and I have been their father.”
“Then let me in, let me fix those 5 years of not being there. I would do anything you demand of me.” I whimpered as I walked closer to her.
“If you truly love them, you will leave New Kingston and never return. Forget that we even exist, Rex.” She said as she looked at me.
I remained quiet as I looked at her. “How could she ask me to leave and never return? How was that going to prove my love for my kids and her?” I scowled within as I looked away.
“What does that prove? That I love you? I don’t plan on leaving New Kingston without you and our kids.” I mumbled as I looked at her.
“Let me go prepare something, let’s not ruin a beautiful evening.” I muttered, cutting her short as I had her sit down.
“You already ruined the evening, come on, Rex.” Clark snapped the moment I stepped in. “You should have at least started with the dinner, but wait, on a second note, that is a bad idea on its own.” He chuckled softly as he looked at me.
“Can you not start, please!?” I sighed as I proceeded to the kitchen.
“What do you plan on doing now? It’s obvious that she isn’t interested in going back to the pack with you. What will you do now?” He asked as he looked at me.
I rolled my eyes as I ignored him. “But… but what if… what if she doesn’t plan on returning back to the pack with me?” I groaned as tears swelled up in my eyes.
