Chapter 21

Book:The Alpha's Hot Chase After Divorce Published:2025-2-25

Rex’s POV.
I couldn’t let anything happen to her. And the thought of anyone getting close to her was way more provoking than I ever imagined. “Where is your coat?” Clark asked the moment I walked in.
“Did you even sleep today?” He asked again as he looked directly into my eyes that were now heavy.
How could I sleep when all I did was follow my two beautiful little kids everywhere. I couldn’t allow any harm to come to them. And standing right there, I never knew when I smiled as I remembered how they were playing earlier today.
I wished I could step out from where I hid all through watching them and have them in my arms but then, it was still going to be for a short while.
“Seriously? Smiling right now is pretty much insane of you, Rex!!” Clark sneered, bringing me back to reality.
“You know what, I made some broccoli omelet and erm… yeah, rice and soy sauce as well. You look dehydrated as well.” He scoffed as he rolled his eyes as he continued with the movie he was watching.
“I think I will just drive out and get maybe Pan-seared steak with Garlic butter, it’s already like ages since I last tasted something as sweet as that.” I snapped as I stepped out.
Broccoli wasn’t my favorite and soy sauce? That was literally like one of my worst dishes. I drove down to the nearest fast-food restaurant that was still open as I got 4 pan-seared steaks with Garlic butter and two sodas.
“Yesss!!” I screamed as I drove back home. I had everything playing in my head right now. And I felt my heart become unsteady as I remembered how I rubbed her cheek and how I held her left hand, dragging her gently with me.
I felt this happiness flowing through me as I drove back.
“What exactly is going on? Is there something you’re not telling me, Rex?” Clark scowled as he looked at me. “Since you got back home, you have been smiling, really? Did she finally accept to return to the pack? Because I am fully aware that is why we came here in the first place.” He said as he paused for a while, dropping the fork that had a small chunk of the steak.
“Huh?” I choked as I raised my eyebrows. “What don’t you understand about maintaining table manners, Clark?” I sneered as I tried ignoring his question.
“Then how can I focus and eat when you keep grinning and come to think of it, where is your coat?” He furrowed his eyebrows as he stared at me. “I went to the car to get my stuff which I forgot when we went to The Eleven and I noticed your coat wasn’t there either.” He went further as he locked his eyes with mine now.
“I will go pick it up tomorrow, or maybe next.” I answered as I continued with my meal.
“Pick it up?” He questioned in an interrogative manner.
“And yes, Alice called severally while you were away. She got worried and you weren’t returning her calls either.” Clark said as he looked at me.
“I never received her calls.” I responded as I checked my pockets searching for my phone. “Darn it!” I cursed as I remembered I had dropped it in my coat’s inner pocket.
“How could I have been this careless?” I groaned as I punched the table lightly.
“Careless?” He scowled and I saw the confusion on his face now.
“I forgot my phone in my coat.” I sneered as I rolled my eyes.
“I could drive down to the laundry tomorrow to go get it for you.” He said as he continued with his meal.
“Actually, I had to give Elena my coat. She needed it.” I finally confessed as my cheeks flustered, getting a little bit red as I knew Clark would definitely make a great deal out of it.
“Elena? You gave your coat to Elena?” He said as he dropped his fork this time around as he looked at me.
“Okay, end of conversation. Can we just eat? I will get it tomorrow.” I snapped as I tried ignoring him but then, he wouldn’t give in.
“Does that mean you both are finally getting along again?” He questioned as he smiled broadly. “Come on, Rex, this is good news. In Fact, this is the best news I have heard today.” He yelped as he picked up his cellphone.
“Whatever it is that you want to do, I will suggest you better not.” I scowled as I quickly grabbed his phone from him. “What do you plan on doing? Huh?” I sneered. “There is absolutely no way I will let you call my mother.” I snapped as I pushed his phone inside my pocket.
“Come on, Rex. She also needs to hear this. Don’t you know she will be the happiest person in the world after hearing it? Come on, Rex handover my phone, please?” He pleaded as he tilted his lips.
“That’s not going to work on me today, so don’t even give it a try.” I rolled my eyes.
“But… but wait, why did you give her your coat? Was she feeling cold? Oh!!” He widened his eyes even more as he looked at me. “Don’t tell me you both were together, like… like you know.” He said excitedly.
I clenched the front part of my hair as I groaned, cutting him short. “How possible is that, Clark? She just got into some trouble and that stupid Liam Bohen tried taking advantage of her so I…”
“Saved her and kicked his ass.” He interrupted me in an attempt to make fun of it as well.
“I think I need to go to bed now.” I scowled as I got up.
“But… wait… Liam Bohen? He tried taking advantage of her?” He stuttered now as he suddenly wore a frown now. “I hope you taught him a lesson he will never forget?” He probed as he looked at me.
“I only protected the mother of my child.” I responded before walking away.
“Oh mine. This is truly the best love story.” I heard him say in a whisper as I shook my head.
