The bond drew Levi all the way to the president’s office, and he was ready to storm right in when two of Victor’s subordinates who were standing outside the door stood in his way.
“What do you want?” one of them asked, daring to glower at him.
Levi sneered and pinned him with his crimson gaze, a wave of rage emanating from his body. “Move,” he seethed.
“You can’t-”
Before he could continue, his companion pulled him away, his face a bit ashen. “Do you have a death wish?” he whispered harshly, “look at his eyes, it’s the Alpha of Silver Creek. He’d sooner kill you than waste time arguing with you.”
“But the Alpha King said-”
Levi stormed through the door, leaving the two behind. The scene in front of his eyes made his blood boil.
Sara was lying on the couch, lying lifelessly as the Alpha King reached for the front of her shirt and ripped it open. Her face was bruised, her neck bloodied, tears running down her cheeks.
With a mighty growl, Levi leaped forward, grabbing Victor by the shoulder and pulling him away from her.
Victor escaped his hold and turned around, sneering. “Who the fuck are you?”
Instead of answering, Levi swung his first and hit him in his jaw. Victor’s eyes widened in surprise, and Levi took advantage of his confusion to get another hit in. And then, with one goal in mind, he extended his fangs and aimed for the Alpha King’s throat.
But this time, Victor avoided the attack and moved back to assess his attacker.
“How dare you attack the Alpha King?” he asked, pulling back his lips to reveal his fangs. “Do you have a death wish?”
“How dare you touch my mate?” Levi countered.
Victor’s gaze slid over to Sara, who was still lying on the couch, barely conscious. “This?” he spat. “Your mate?”
Levi was not interested in explaining anything to him, so he rushed forward, and successfully wrapped his hand around Victor’s throat. Walking forward, he forced him to stumble backwards until his back hit the wall.
He tightened his hold on his neck, and no matter how much Victor fought, he couldn’t escape. This was good too, Levi thought. He could tear his throat out, but he could also watch the life seep out of his eyes little by little. He had killed many werewolves, some even supposedly stronger than him. This Alpha King was no match for him.
Victor’s strangled words barely got past his lips…”How…. dare…you…I’m…Alpha…King…”
Levi scoffed as he tightened his hold. “Think I’m scared of you because you are the Alpha King? Have you forgotten our tradition? If I kill you, I’ll become King. What is there to be afraid of?”
“In…your…dreams…”
Seeing that Levi was too strong for him, Victor realised he needed help. He hated it. He was the Alpha King, he wasn’t supposed to be bested by some werewolf, whether they were an Alpha or not. But if he didn’t get help, the result would be more humiliating. Through the mind, he ordered his subordinates to get inside the room and attack Levi.
Seconds later, the two burst through the door and fell on Levi.
Due to the sudden attack, Levi had to release Victor and face the newcomers. Victor took that chance to jump through the window and run into the jungle surrounding the school.
When Levi saw him escape, he pushed the two subordinates off and rushed after him. He was determined to not let him get away, not after he had attacked Sara.
But after a few minutes, he realised he wasn’t going to catch up to him soon. Also, he had left Sara alone in the office, severely injured and unable to defend herself.
Vowing to make the Alpha King pay one day, he ran back to the campus and to the president’s office. Sara was still lying on the couch.
He took off his sweater and pulled it over her torn shirt, his blood boiling again at the sight of bloody scratches on her stomach and chest. There were also marks on her neck, and one side of her face was swollen and bruising. If it weren’t for her need of treatment, he would have gone after that asshole until he made him bleed to death.
Carefully, he gathered her in his arms and carried her out of the office.
“If you had accepted me,” he murmured, looking down at her face, “this would never have happened. Nobody would dare hurt you when you are my mate. Why don’t you accept me?”
He was barely aware of the crowds of students that had gathered to try and get a glimpse of what was happening. Whispers followed them all the way to the dorm building, but nobody dared to approach.
He made it to their dorm and carried Sara to her room, where he carefully lay her on her bed. She groaned softly, her face twisting in pain.
Gently, he helped her out of his sweater, and then looked down at her injuries. He had to clean, disinfect, and treat them, and he needed to get her shirt out of the way first.
Just as he reached for the fabric, footsteps sounded outside, and then Christian and Kai appeared at the doorway.
“What happened?” Christian demanded, hurrying into the room.
Levi shot to his feet and faced him. “What are you doing here?”
Christian ignored him and stepped around him to take a look at Sara. Quickly, Levi turned around and pulled her shirt back into place. “Get out, I’ll treat her.”
“Will you?” Christian asked, making no move to leave. “What do you know about treating injuries?”
“Enough,” Levi shot back.
At that moment, Sara stirred, and her eyes opened slightly. The two males turned to her instantly.
“Sara?”
“Sara?”
They glared at each other when they called to her simultaneously, but then turned back to her when she muttered, “Where…”
“You are safe,” Levi replied, “don’t worry, I’ll take care of you.”
“I…I…”
“Shhh, it’s okay,” Christian said, and then he turned to Kai. “You, get the first aid kit.”
Kai blinked, and then pointed at himself. “Me?”
“Who else?” Levi snapped, “and be quick about it.”
Rolling his eyes, Kai turned away to get the kit. While he didn’t appreciate being ordered around, things seemed to be taking an interesting turn, and he wanted to be there for the entire show.
