Even though they had made a deal, Sara was surprised when the three guys actually stopped bullying her. Not even Kai made fun of her, though she couldn’t tell whether that was because of the deal or because he was terrified of Levi.
Her mate bond to Christian was still a secret, and Levi had not made any more demands about formalising their bond. Which meant her two mates still didn’t want her, but they also hadn’t reject her.
A week passed without any incidents. Fortunately, Eddie did not come looking for revenge. The she-wolves who had started tormenting her stopped-probably because Kai was done pretending to be with her and had gone back to flirting around with them.
Her only problem was the mate bond she had with Christian and Levi.
It was so hard to be near them and not be able to do anything about it. She had to try extra hard to hold Edna back, who was lately behaving like a wolf in heat.
The dreams that plagued her at night didn’t help. Hot, steamy dreams of her, pressed between the two males while they touched her wherever their hands could reach, and kissed her, and whispered dirty things in her ear-
“Sara Mae!”
She jolted from her daydream, heat instantly rising from the bottom of her neck to her hairline as the sound of her name brought her back to the present.
She blinked and focused on the professor who was looking straight at her.
“Yes, sir.”
“You’ve been summoned to the president’s office.”
Her face went straight from a healthy blush to a pallid hue.
“Right away,” the professor added, before resuming his lecture.
Gathering her stuff, Sara made her way out of the class and began the walk towards the office. What was this about? She had not gotten into trouble the past week.
Was this about running away into the jungle instead of serving Eddie? But that was long ago. If the president had wanted to punish her about it, he would have done so a week ago.
By the time she got to the president’s office, she still hadn’t thought of any possible reason for the summon.
But when she walked into the room, she understood clearly what it was about.
Victor was standing at the window of the president’s office, his gaze focused on the outside. She didn’t even have to see his face to know it was him. She could recognize him from just looking at his back, and it was enough to terrorise her.
“She is here, Alpha,” the president said, bowing towards Victor.
“Leave us,” Victor ordered, and the president left after reminding the Alpha King that he could ask him for anything he needed.
And then there was just the two of them. That was when Victor turned around and looked at her.
“What are you doing here?” she asked, fighting the urge to run for the door and get as far away from there as possible.
“I see you still haven’t remembered your place,” he said, stepping away from the window and approaching her. “What makes you think you can ask me questions, leave alone talk to me without permission?”
She shifted her gaze downwards, her hands fisting at her sides. Edna was already fuming.
The tips of his shoes appeared in her line of sight. “Apologise,” he ordered.
She clenched her jaw, glaring hoes into his shoes.
“And look at me when I talk to you!” he thundered.
Taking a deep breath, she looked up at him. And holding back every piece of pride and rebellious streak she had, said, “I’m sorry.”
The words sounded bitter in her mouth. She had a few hundred words she would have chosen to say to him instead, and none of them were of the polite variety.
His lips pulled to one side in an evil grin. “It looks to me like North Academy hasn’t been working out the way I hoped it would. Do you think I sent you here for a vacation?”
She remained silent for a few seconds, and then, seeing his eyes flash in anger, mumbled, “No.”
“Since the school hasn’t been teaching you well enough, I thought I should come by and help a little.”
Sara swallowed and tried to calculate her chances of getting away successfully if she made a das for the door. She would have gotten away if she had tried it when he had been at the window.
“Give me a tour of the school,” he said, walking past her and towards the door.
She frowned. He wanted her to give him a tour of the school? She had expected him to try something to harm her.
“What are you still standing around for? Get the door!” he snapped, standing in front of the door.
Startled, she rushed to the door and opened it. He walked through and she followed.
“I want to see the quad first,” he said.
“Okay,” she said, leading the way. She had no idea what he was up to, but this was much better than being stuck in the office with him.
As Sara led the way to the quad, a sinister smile took over Victor’s face. He was about to teach her a lesson she would never forget.
When he had gotten a report that she was doing well at North Academy, he had almost gone mad with anger. When she was sentenced to North Academy, he had thought she would have a horrible time and go crawling back to him asking for forgiveness.
The reports he got about the first few days had been satisfactory. And then, it was as if things had taken a sudden turn. According to the president, the bullying had stopped, and she didn’t seem to be having any problems.
He had come all the way to change that.
When they got close to the quad, Sara came to a stop when she saw a gathering of students. Turning to Victor, she said, “It looks like there’s a meeting going on. I can show you other places and come back here later.”
“We’ll join them,” he said, and then grabbed her forearm and started off towards the quad.
Sara tried to escape his grip to no avail. Students saw as they approached, and soon, everybody was trying to get a glimpse.
Whispers filled the place.
“It’s the Alpha King!”
“Why is he with that girl?”
“What’s going on?”
To Sara’s confusion, Victor dragged her all the way to the platform, where the president was standing, addressing the crowd of students.
“What’s going on?” she asked Victor as he came to a halt beside the president.
As the president made introductions, Victor leaned in to her ear. “You are going to apologise to me in front of everyone, and then beg me to forgive you and take you back to Blood Moon.”
Sara’s head jerked back. “What?”
“If you don’t,” he continued, “you can rest assured that your life here is going to get a hundred times worse. As it was meant to be.”
“I’ll not apologise for something I’ve not done.”
“Cross me in front of everyone, and you’ll regret it for the rest of your life,” he promised.
He let go of her hand and stepped forward to address the student crowd.
Sara was shaking with anger as he stated his reason for being in the school. He gave a stern warning to werewolves who had no regard for authority, and then said that the Omega who had dared rebel against him had requested for forgiveness, and he was giving her a chance to redeem herself.
He added she was lucky he was feeling merciful, because he normally had no patience for Omegas who forgot where they belonged. At that point, everybody’s attention turned to Sara.
And then he told her to step forward.
Her feet remained rooted to the ground.
Victor turned his back to the crowd and approached her, a menacing look on his face. “Don’t test me.”
“NO!” Edna screamed.
It was something Sara wished she could scream in his face. Instead, she whispered, “Watch me,” and turned to walk away from him.
He grabbed her arm, but she pulled it free, feeling that same energy from back when he had first attacked her flowing through her vein. “I’ll never apologise for something I did not do!” she asserted, her voice loud enough for nearby students to hear.
Victor’s mouth fell and his face contorted in anger.
Before he could overcome his shock and go after her, she had already made her way down the platform.
“Get her!” he roared at the president.
Suddenly, there were several strong arms grabbing her, locking her arms in steel grips.
No matter how hard she tried, she couldn’t budge from their hold as they dragged her away from the quad and back to the president’s office.
When they let her go, they left the office, and before she could rush towards the door, Victor walked in and shut the door behind him.
“I told you not to test me,” he said, taking two long strides towards her. He swung his hand and slapped her so hard that she stumbled back and landed onto a couch in the room.
Tears filled her eyes as she tried to gather herself.
“Who do you think you are, to humiliate me in front of that crowd? Huh? You’ll never listen, will you?”
As he ranted, he removed his jacket and threw it aside. And then he started unbuttoning his shirt. “I should have taken care of you myself instead of sending you here,” he said. “After today, you’ll think twice before crossing me again!”
Realising his motive, Sara launched to her feet and dashed for the door, but he grabbed her by the hair and pulled, bringing her back to the couch.
The more she fought to escape his grip, the more her scalp hurt. She tried to bite his arm, but he easily avoided her attack and retaliated by wrapping his hand around her neck.
“Let’s see how much fun you can have after I’m done with you,” he said, unbuckling his belt.
She crawled, pushed, and pulled, but without the mysterious strength that had flowed through her twice before, she was no match for him.
At last, when she knew she couldn’t get away from him, she sent a silent cry for help.
Somewhere in the campus, Levi had just heard about the incident with the Alpha King and the Omega from Blood Moon.
And then he felt the mate bond, calling to him.
