It sounded like Tilda had cheated on him.
“That’s settled. Let’s go!” Johnny grabbed her hand and started to walk out.
Tilda was really afraid he would start another fight, so she struggled a bit. “I want to go by myself! Don’t you have to work?”
“Not today! Before Ulric left, he asked me to help with this meeting. Everything else can wait. I stayed up all night to finish it! Right now, taking care of you is the most important thing.”
Tilda rolled her eyes speechlessly and then suddenly remembered something. “Left? Where did Ulric go?”
“He took Rosalind and the two kids to Faydale. They’re not in Northville City, so complaining to your friend won’t help.”
Johnny pulled Tilda’s phone out of his suit pocket and handed it back to her with a grin.
Tilda was speechless.
“You even took my phone to the office?”
“Yeah, I was afraid you’d find it if I left it at home.”
“You-”
…
Rosalind had never been to Faydale.
The air here was a bit dry. After autumn set in, the weather in the northeast had already started to get cold. The wind carried a chill, unlike Northville City where one could still wear short sleeves or just a light jacket.
Before they got off the plane, Cedric had arranged for someone to pick them up at the airport.
Ulric noticed Rosalind shivering slightly and immediately took off his coat to drape it over her shoulders.
Rosalind looked up and met his gaze. “I’m fine. You should wear it.”
“I’m warm.”
…
They first went to the villa Ulric had bought. It featured a large garden, and from a distance, one could see right into it-spacious and bright!
Inside, it was decorated in Ulric’s usual minimalist style with black, white, and gray tones-simple yet sophisticated.
Jake held Floyd’s hand as they walked in and looked around, clearly not satisfied.
“Daddy, there are no toys here!” Floyd pouted and walked forward a few steps, grabbing Ulric’s pant leg. “I want to go back!”
Ulric bent down and picked up his daughter. “How is that possible? Why don’t you and your brother check upstairs?”
Floyd’s dark eyes widened immediately. “I want to go upstairs!”
She ran towards the stairs right away, while Jake walked slowly since he wasn’t very interested in children’s toys. He was just keeping his sister company. Ulric whispered in his ear, “There’s also a computer upstairs. Why don’t you test the internet here?”
Jake looked at him in surprise. “Is it fast?”
“Of course, and it has an anti-tracking system installed. You won’t leave any traces when you hack into networks.”
Jake didn’t even respond. He ran upstairs faster than Floyd!
Ulric’s lips curled into a smile as he watched their small figures quickly disappear upstairs.
Rosalind had just changed her shoes and saw them running off like that, puzzled. “What are they doing?”
“There are toys they like upstairs.”
“You prepared those here too?”
“Of course! Without toys, children would feel very bored.” Ulric shrugged.
Rosalind sighed helplessly.
She should have guessed Ulric would do this.
He was meticulous, always striving for perfection in everything he did. Plus, Floyd and Jake were his treasures. It was only natural that he doted on his children.
“You’re spoiling them.”
“Jealous?” Ulric pulled her into his arms and stole a kiss from her lips. “I have to settle them first so we won’t be interrupted when we return to our bedroom…”
