“Oh, Seraph, it’s great to meet you. Welcome to our new family. Let me show you around and explain your responsibilities,” Rebecca said with a warm smile.
“Thanks, Rebecca. I appreciate it,” I replied, smiling back at the woman in front of me.
I followed Rebecca as she gave me a tour of the club.
First, we visited the exhibition room closest to us.
The Eagle Club occupied an entire building, with only twenty members. Surprisingly, they had a dedicated exhibition hall filled with medals and trophies they had won in competitions.
I couldn’t help but marvel at the array of gold, silver, and bronze medals, along with various cups and awards.
The room also displayed photos of the members during competitions, capturing key moments and group shots after their matches.
Kael’s photos dominated the collection, making up about half of the displays.
I guessed it was because he always brought home gold whenever he competed.
Rebecca noticed my gaze lingering on Kael and chuckled.
“Handsome, isn’t he? Many girls apply for jobs here just to catch a glimpse of Kael, but most end up quitting when they realize they won’t get to see him. I hope you’re not one of those girls.”
I immediately responded, “I won’t get to see Kael?”
“That’s right.”
“Perfect,” I sighed in relief. The last thing I wanted was to run into Kael.
Rebecca looked surprised. “You don’t like him?”
Realizing I might have been too obvious, I quickly explained, “It’s not that. He’s just so outstanding that I’d probably get nervous around him.”
Rebecca nodded. “Don’t worry, it’s normal for girls to be infatuated with him. Who doesn’t admire a strong man? Even though I’m married, I still appreciate him.”
She winked playfully at the last sentence, and I found myself starting to like Rebecca.
As we moved to the back of the exhibition room, I noticed some models-eagles and wolves.
“Why are these here?” I asked.
“Oh, those are specimens,” Rebecca explained. “We don’t need to maintain them, just keep an eye out for dust and clean when necessary.”
I made a mental note of everything Rebecca said.
“These areas need to be checked daily. If you see any dust, make sure to clean it,” she instructed, pointing to the floor.
I nodded, committing it all to memory.
Soon, we arrived at the medical room, located in a corner on the first floor. There, I saw Magnus.
He was organizing files, still wearing his pristine white coat, exuding a clean and refreshing aura.
When he noticed Rebecca and me, he stood up immediately.
“Oh, Seraphina, what brings you here?” Magnus greeted me with a smile, his blue eyes captivating.
“I’m here to work. We’ll be colleagues from now on,” I replied, feeling a sense of relief at seeing a familiar face in the club.
Magnus was a gentle and polite man. When he looked at you, his attentiveness always made you feel valued, even if you were just making small talk.
I had never met such a gentleman before.
His gaze made my heart race uncontrollably.
His eyes were stunning, like calm lakes under the light, inexplicably soothing my nerves.
“That’s wonderful. I’m glad we’ll be working together,” Magnus said, extending his hand.
I shook his hand, feeling the warmth and strength of his grip. My cheeks flushed slightly.
“The medical room doesn’t require much cleaning since the medications here can’t be disturbed. Magnus usually handles everything, but you can help with the floors,” Rebecca told me.
I nodded in understanding.
After leaving the medical room, we headed to the training arena.
This was my primary cleaning area.
“Seraphina, this is the most important area we need to maintain. Even if it’s not open to the public, internal matches and training sessions are all here, so it needs to be cleaned almost daily,” Rebecca explained.
“How many of us are on the cleaning team?” I asked.
“Five, including me,” she replied.
The arena was massive, requiring significant effort to keep it spotless.
At that moment, a few men were sparring in the ring, shirtless and wearing boxing gloves and shorts.
Spectators stood nearby, occasionally gasping or cheering.
I didn’t recognize any of them, which helped me relax.
The last thing I wanted was to run into the two people I knew.
“Seraphina, do you see all the trash around? Your task today is to clean up the arena,” Rebecca said.
I nodded. It didn’t seem too difficult.
Since it was just a training session, there wasn’t much garbage. Rebecca left me to handle it, confident I could manage on my own.
I started cleaning, focusing on the corners first so I could finish quickly once the training ended.
Just then, someone shouted, “Kael, you’re finally here! I thought you weren’t training today!”
I slowly looked up and saw Kael’s handsome face.
Immediately, the ringing in my ears and the rapid pounding of my heart returned.
Damn it, I just couldn’t escape his effect on me.
I took a deep breath, trying to suppress the strange sensations, but the ringing and heartbeat wouldn’t stop.
Thankfully, I was in a corner. I kept my head down, hoping Kael wouldn’t notice me.
But unfortunately, it was as if he had a radar for my location. He was looking straight at me now.
I hunched over, feeling like a thief caught in the act.
Yet, my peripheral vision betrayed me, and I couldn’t help glancing in his direction.
To my horror, he was staring right at me.
I was the only one in this area; everyone else was gathered around the ring.
Kael was definitely looking at me.
Realizing this, my heart raced even faster, and my breath hitched. It felt like my blood had stopped flowing.
I clenched my fists tightly.
Part of me hoped he would walk over, embrace me, and then we’d head to his apartment for something wild.
Damn it, I hated this feeling!
I felt like I was losing my mind. I used to despise women who acted like this, and now I was becoming one of them.
Seraphina, get a grip! Why are you so nervous? You’ve already settled everything with him. There’s no need to hide like this.
With that thought, I relaxed my fists and looked up.
To my shock, Kael was walking straight toward me.
