Jessica’s POV
He kissed me in that sweet way I like it, I felt like I was melting down from the kiss,
“You are so beautiful, I have to restrain myself because of our little butterfly ”
“Butterfly?”
“That’s what I call my baby bump, she is my little butterfly princess ”
“Oh okay, that’s cute considering if it’s a baby girl”
“It is a baby girl, I know it”
“Well I pray it works out for you dear ”
“But I will love it if it’s a boy too, I just want a girl that I will pamper”
“I want a boy to be first because I want my baby girl to have a big brother that will protect her”
“That’s true but she is daddy’s girl and will have daddy protecting her”
“Will you be with her in class as she studies”
“Well if it’s possible ”
I burst out laughing as I picture Xavier in kindergarten with our baby girl and other little kids, they will be scared shitless to see a big man in their class.
“It’s really funny but if that’s what you want Jess then I wish for a baby boy first too ”
“Well let’s nature take it’s course in this”
We drove the rest of the way home in a happy silence, we arrived home to see grandfather and aunt standing at the door as if the were expecting important guests, I was all smiles as soon as we came down the stairs, my aunt came and hugged me very warmly and grandfather tapped my back gently as if I was glass,
“Father, Aunt you both came”
“Yes my dear, how are you and the baby?”
“We are both fine, the doctor said he is healthy”
“I can see you and your husband have decided on the gender you both liked”
“No grandfather, we hoped it would be a boy first so that someone will be able protect his little sister well”
“That’s good but I prefer female, I know she won’t be no damsel in distress, she will learn how to protect herself like her parents”
“Well we all have what we hope little butterfly to become but we just have to hope till it comes out”
“If you say so, I still hope it would be a she, Xavier, I have had enough of having boys in this household, I need a ball of cute granddaughter I can show off to my friends”
“Well you and your friend will be bragging together now”
“Huh? What do you mean Xavier?”
“Well Mike’s wife is pregnant, four months along”
“Haa, that slimy boy, that old man must not know because he wouldn’t have let me hear the end of it”
“Why would you two brag about such things and make each other upset?”
“He would even say he is a head of me, the girl and Mike has married officially yet?”
“Yes grandfather ”
“Good, now I have an ace card”
“They are getting married next weekend though ”
“I pray we have a granddaughter, we have a bet on who will have a granddaughter first”
I laughed at what he saying, grandfather and Mike’s grandfather argued about the most funny things, brag to each other about every tiny little thing they seem worthy to brag even if it wasn’t at all.
“Oh silly me, dear child what would you and baby eat today?”
My aunt asked me as we were about to go to our room, I don’t have anything special I am craving right so I told her to make anything she wants to, she smiled and went straight to the kitchen, seems like Xavier isn’t the only going to stuff me with food.
XAVIER’S POV
Grandfather and Aunt’s visit were just for two days, we all had fun while they were here before they went back, Aunt has long started working again and because of the cleaning of staff that we did, many manager and executive seats were empty so after evaluating her to the teeth, I made her an executive.
And she is doing a fine job at it, I drove Jess to work as usual before going to mine, I was happier these days not that I wasn’t happy before guess the father’s glow up is starting to show on me, I thought back to Mike’s situation, I can’t believe he didn’t tell me, but I I bear no grudge against him just surprised.
As if on cue he was here sitting on my couch as if he owns the place, I just stared at him while pretends as if he doesn’t know I was looking at him,
“Okay Xavier spill it out ”
“Spill what out ..”
“You have been looking at me as if I stole a thing of yours”
“You did stole a thing of mine”
“Hahhahahha, seems like your wife already gave you the good news about mine ”
“Yes, I heard she quite far along and the wedding is just around the corner ”
“Yes, we didn’t even know she was pregnant till she started being like really having a fever and the wedding was done in a hurry because she is pregnant ”
“Okay, why didn’t you just leave it till after the baby is born then you guys can rest before planning everything ”
“I did think about but Laura is a Nigerian and from the gbo tribe if I pronounced it well, it’s spelt I. G. B. O and they don’t do child before marriage, it isn’t their culture so that why we are doing white wedding while they prepare for our coming to do the traditional marriage ”
“Wow, that’s really tiring, too much things to do before her pregnancy becomes more prominent ”
“Yes, I have gone to her place before, they were really nice and rich in tradition, we can do a little sightseeing before coming back”
“And who told you am coming with you?”
“You don’t have a choice in it though, is what you would like to think?”
“Not what I would think but what I know”
“Well if Jessica is up for it then we go”
“Like I said you don’t have a choice because Laura got her word that she will come ”
“You sleazy bastard, using my wife against me”
“Well you can do it back to me, I really like that guide”
“Yes men, he knows his stuff”
“Thank you for recommending him, Laura enjoyed the trip”
