Collective sighs of relief escaped the mouths of everyone in the room again as Julius made the declaration.
For one Sheila had a smile on her face, and a fire in her belly. The anticipation of seeing her mate again was threatening to make her wolf go crazy. The latter was all giddy and up from the information.
Sheila herself felt her entire system brimming with expectation, brimming with anticipation of what would happen at their meeting, and what would happen when they are alone in the room.
She shivered, thinking of the last time they had spent together. As her eyes moved, they found her daughters staring at her. Both had the same expression-sure of how to feel, and happiness-because she was happy. Nathan would love them.
She only hoped that he wouldn’t push her away because she had hidden these treasures of hers away from him. She hoped that he will forgive her.
Goddess please. She pleaded, sending another prayer in the air, not knowing how much of that was answered.
“Good, that is sorted. I think our hopes are at a ninety percent. Hopefully, the ten percent will be completed by tonight. So, when are we going to see the prince? I think the earlier the better.” Kane started, his eyes finding everyone on the table, and holding them captive.
Sheila nodded her agreement. She couldn’t wait to see Nathan. Her legs were already tapping in impatience, waiting for the hours to go by, waiting for the ancients to be on their way to bring him back to her. Would he come? He has to. He would, for his daughters.
“You are right. We can go at night. The women can stay here. Freya can take care of the Esther girl. Curtis would be going to meet his father too. We would convene here tomorrow for the birthday party. Hopefully, we might get news from Emma. Hopefully if she shifts, and sees her true form, she might want to reach out. That’s on a probability of course. The girl is headstrong from what I can see.” Dobah followed, remembering that the girl had interfered with Kane’s train of thoughts to warn him against being harsh on Freya. It takes someone with a lot of galls to do that.
“Maya, you wouldn’t go with your brother.” Dobah continued when he saw the siblings exchange glances and most assuredly thoughts mentally. “If you go with him, your father might see into what we are planning, which will defeat the purpose of his journey. Arnold already knows that he has lost out to you. No need testing the waters, or playing daughter once again.”
Maya nodded, seeing the truth in the statement. Her father wasn’t gullible. He will see past her acts in one minute, not that she was ever a good actor.
“So, are we in agreement to meeting here tomorrow, hopefully at the same time, hopefully Nathan will be with us, and perhaps the prince too. I am sure that there will be an exchange of power though. But that would be talks for tomorrow.” Dobah asked, inhaling softly, when everyone on the table nodded their heads.
“That’s great then. So, Sheila, one more question. Why did you take so long to come back? Why did your friend, Tempest, right?, had to impersonate you for eleven years? What happened?” Dobah inquired.
Sheila shrugged. “Due to complications with childbirth-I am sure you all would not be confused, seeing the three treasures the goddess had blessed me with-I had entered into a coma. I only came out a few weeks ago. I had run first to the midwife that had taken care of childbirth. She had been the one that I had spoken right after given birth. I had given her Tempest’s contact too. So, when I came out, I realized that I was in a basement with no supplies, with a parched mouth, and a stinky bed. I had pressed the bell that was close to me, and a girl answered. She was working for a family, that Tempest had entrusted my body too. They owed her a favour it seemed. The couple wasn’t around, and I couldn’t wait around. So, after the maid took care of me, I took up the money that Tempest had made sure to store away from me, goddess bless her soul, and had started going to the contacts that the maid had reeled off to me. Tempest had left the information with them, in case I woke up.”
The table was silent. Sheila had to continue. “I went to the orphanage first. That had been the first address on the list. When I got there, and described to the woman whom I was looking for, she had no idea what I was talking about. I asked her to check the records, because Tempest had also written the name of the baby down. Freya was one of the names I had chosen when I had become aware that I was carrying triplets. The matron had been reluctant. She had brought the records, but I had known it was false. I also knew that my baby wasn’t there, I couldn’t feel her scent. I understand now that Leonarya must have paid the woman much to have you to herself. She must have known of the prophecy even then. She must have been plotting her wicked revenge even then.”
Freyya sniffed, tightening her hold on Aiden’s hand.
“The next address was where Lucille stayed. Luckily, she was still with them, not living in the best way, but at least she was taken care of. I took care of the pest in the family, before bringing her with me. I am grateful that she had believed me.” Sheila concluded, turning asde to look affectionately at Lucille who had a thin smile on her lips, and who had just placed a calming hand on hers. Sheila held back tears.
“Did you ever check the third address? Where Emma had been raised?”
Sheila heard Blenda ask. “No, I didn’t. There was none on the paper.”
