Black Moon’s Pack. 6:45am
Derek woke up a bit agitated from a dreamless sleep. He had thought that perhaps he would receive some kind of information on the whereabouts of Emma in a dream.
The idea sounded funny to him afterward, but he couldn’t deny that the idea had been stuck to his head like glue before he had slept off at midnight. But that wasn’t only the thing that had gotten him tied up in knots.
There was a knock on the door, and he nearly screamed out in frustration. That was another huge part of his anger! Someone had interrupted his sleep! Perhaps, if he had slept more, he might have dreamt.
“Derek, are you there?” he heard his mother call out to him from behind the door and sighed, cursing himself as he stood up from his bed for beginning to believe in dreams. He would leave that part to his little sister, Eva, who always thought that she saw Emma in her dreams. Why can’t he see her for god sake? They are mates!
“Were mates…” he heard Maru mutter, and sighed. “Good for you to come back buddy.” he mused, opening the door, a bit troubled on why his mother had come looking for him at this time. He was sure that the time wasn’t even seven a. m yet.
“Good morning mom.” he greeted, stepping aside so that she would come into the room. “Is everything all right?” he asked on the go, noticing that he felt explicitly calm despite not knowing what could be brewing. His past or yesterday self would have been wrecked in nervousness and anxiousness now.
He furrowed his eyebrows when he saw that his mother wasn’t stepping into his room.
“Nothing is the problem Derek. You seem to have forgotten that you have fixed a meeting with the pack by seven a. m today.” Melvina said, a short smile on her lips.
“No, mom. I didn’t forget. How could I forget such important information? That’s impossible.” he answered, chuckling the next minute when his mother’s smile metamorphosed into a full blown laughter. “Uhhh, I really need a PA.” he groaned, knowing that his mother had caught onto his lie.
“Well, that’s why you have your beta and gamma. They should keep you informed at all times. You should drill them on their work, so that you won’t end up in hot troubles.” she said. “Well, that’s not really the main reason I’m here. Curtis is about going, but he is waiting on Leo. Maya is too. She had woken up to wish them a safe journey. They are searching for Leo as we speak. I think it’s high time you told them that Leo wouldn’t be coming back anytime soon. Stay with Maya after that, so that she wouldn’t do anything harsh.”
Derek sighed, feeling his shoulders deflate. He hated being the bringer of bad news. He wondered how his two cousins would feel about this latest development. Maya will be crushed. He thought, stepping back to pick a blue polo which complemented his eyes, and putting it on as he stalked out of the room, walking through the well lighted passageway right behind his mother.
“Why do you think Leo did it?” he asked his mother as they walked gingerly in the hallways a few minutes later, just before they got to the sitting room.
“I don’t know. I am sure he had his reasons. And if he was a spy, well he will have to reap the punishment when next we see him. I am sure you can take care of that.” Melvina replied, a cold glint hardening in her eyes as she looked over to Derek who sighed, but nodded, obviously still in shock that one of his good friends had the spine to betray him after everything they have been through together.
“It hurts mom.” Derek muttered, pausing in his movements, an act which also triggered Melvina’s walking to a halt.
She stepped back a bit, and tapped him on the arm. “Well, in life, stuff like this does happen. You just have to dust it off your back and move on. Not everyone deserves the space and time of our mind, you know..” she said, tapping consecutively on his back. “You will be fine Derek, and you will get over it. Besides…” she paused, a smirk slithering across her lips.
A pause that caused Derek to look at her. “Besides, he is not your mate.” she concluded, laughing when Derek muttered a yikes and shook her away gently from his body. “Gross mom..” he mused, flinging his arm around her neck, an inexplicable emotion taking over his chest. Even if the rest disappoints him, his mother never would.

“What is happening? Did you manage to get anything? Did you hear anything? What did they want?” Tempest bombarded Ketura with questions as the latter materialized before her in the car park they had hidden in order to avoid confrontation with the vampires.
Earlier, when they had gotten to the hotel a few minutes ago, she had been shocked when she had seen a throng of vampires walk into the hotel . Ketura had worsened the situation by saying that she hadn’t known of their presence in the county, probably they just arrived recently.
She had sent her friend off to spy on them in a magic misty state, and now she was back, Tempest couldn’t wait for the news.
“Well, there’s a lot of confusion over there. It seems one of the guys had lied about being the husband to Sheila, and the receptionist said something about twins. Well, I couldn’t get some facts straight since using more of my power might expose my presence. You know they are quite sensitive.” Ketura replied, but Tempest didn’t think that was enough information.
“Is that all?” she asked, disappointment flashing across her face.
“Well, they are heading to the wolves’ pack. I don’t know why, but I think it is serious.” Ketura replied, somberly, a bit sad that Tempest was acting this way. Would she be put aside because Sheila was back now?
“Well, get ready to work up some magic, because we are going to the wolves’ pack too.” Tempest stated.
