Emma’s silence at Melvina’s question almost gave Derek a heart attack. He panicked, although not visible on his exterior features, thinking that his little witch wouldn’t want a life with him, after finding out about his true nature. He wasn’t even sure he would be able to let her go if she rejected him.
“Emma, they are waiting for your answers.” Prescott told a quiet Emma telepathically, and she nodded, signifying that she knew.
She was actually thinking about her family, about Amelia. She hasn’t spoken to her sister in like forever, and now she was leaving her to be a luna in some pack. Would Amelia even believe her? What of her parents? Even if there was the possibility that they weren’t her real parents, they had still trained her well, at least she hadn’t lacked the basic comfort, or slaved away as a housemaid. They had the chance to do that, and they hadn’t. For that, she was grateful.
So, how could she leave them?
“Babe, don’t you want to stay with me?” She heard Derek ask her, worry and fear coating his voice, and immediately turned aside to stare at him.
She furrowed her eyebrows, noting that his lips hadn’t moved; if anything they were clamped shut as if they had been stitched up.
So, how was he communicating with her?
“Your head.” Prescott mentioned, and she smiled, a mischievous naughty smile that caused Prescott to huff in exasperation, and Derek to stare at her in open curiosity.
“Can we transfer pictures too, like I had done with you?” She asked Prescott, her earlier worry forgotten, as a new way of turning her boyfriend on, came to her mind.
“Yes.” Prescott replied, giving her a funny look that said-‘you are so naughty and silly.’. But Emma couldn’t care less.
“Baby…did you hear me?” She heard Derek ask, and nodded, smiling widely at him, forgetting that he was still waiting for an answer from her.
Derek ‘s heart soared in hope, as he watched the smile brighten the already sweet face of his little witch. From the corner of his eyes, he saw Aiden shake his head, before moving away from Freya, in the company of Yodah and Julius. When they raised their hand and lifted the bodies of werewolves, moving them towards the exit of the hall, he knew that they had taken up his father’s request. They were utilizing the opportunity, not wanting to behold any other form of affection, to clean up the hall.
Hsi friends and his brother, Anthony, joined them too.
“Set your house in order. I’m sure she is staying. Go clean out your suit, or better change them. The party will continue soon. And in the name of the goddess, i don’t want to send off Anthony to call you. Get in your room, and come out. Don’t stay long with Emma.” he heard his father say, and smiled his thanks to his old man, who just shrugged and looked away from them.
Not wasting time, he grabbed Emma’s hand, winked at his mother who shook her head before returning to the side of her mate, and walked out of the hall, towards his room.

“You let them leave together?” Melvina asked Peter, settling down on the arm of his chair, her hand hung across his neck as they both watched the speed with which Aiden and co. cleaned up the hall. They were very fast, and they were not even touching the dead animals. Maya and Freya stood by a pillar discussing like lost-but-found sisters, soul sisters.
“Did i have a choice? Didn’t you see the way he had kissed her not minding our presence. If I hadn’t let him do that, his face would be like shit during the party, out of frustration. That wouldn’t be a good spectacle for our guests. Trust me. I’ve been there after all,” Peter replied, smiling a bit, a little twinkle in his eyes as he remembered something.
“You know they remind me of us, when we were still hiding around your father and making out in the store room.” he muttered, and she laughed out loud, dropping a kiss on his forehead.
“We can continue that tonight.” she promised, earning a grunt of approval from him.

“You think I can transfer to your college?” Freya, her eyes wide with excitement, asked Maya. The latter nodded enthusiastically.
“Yes, you can. You can come over with Yodah.” Maya replied, smiling widely. She had found a new friend. At least this one wouldn’t read her mind without her permission. She mused, remembering Emma’s words. It had hurt her, even though she had tried seeing the situation from the latter’s point of view. Her thoughts were private. She felt invaded. She wondered what and what the redhead had seen.
“Stop worrying about that. I know she was wrong doing that, but honestly I would have been tempted to do so if I was in her shoes.” Freya stated, having noticed the cloud of sadness that had besotted Maya’s face.
“I know, but it still hurts.” Maya replied, with a shrug, her blue eyes searching out her brother and her mate.

“Leo, what are you doing?” Anthony asked Leo, who was trying to lift up the opposing wolf which he had knocked out earlier.
“I want to take him to the prison yards.” Leo replied tentatively, hoping that they would buy into his idea of not killing the guy.
“I would prefer him dead though.” Clem said. Shane nodded, agreeing with him.
Leo looked at Anthony, knowing that although the older werewolf wasn’t related to the Alpha-hood, his words were still recognized more than the former two.
“Why don’t you want him dead?” Antony asked him, peering at him deeply like he could see right within his soul.
“So that we could question him, and know about their recent plans.” Leo stated, keeping his voice firm and aloof, so that they wouldn’t find a trace of feeling in them.
“That’s interesting.” Anthony muttered, before turning to face Shane and Clem.
“He is right. We need to question this particular wolf. He seems to be of a high ranking and would know a lot about the pack. Take him to the dungeons.” he stated, and they all nodded, watching as he turned around and walked away, heading toward Curtis who was discussing with Yodah.
