The chilling, somber words echoed through the Falcon family estate, freezing everyone in place. Their hearts raced with anxiety, for none of them had ever encountered such a terrifying force. Who could have known what kind of trouble their grandson had stirred up this time?
But Luther wasn’t fazed. As he glanced at the despair in Kayden’s eyes, a cold smirk played on his lips. Once I secure Georgia, the Falcon family will forever be beyond your reach, he thought. I’m about to become a disciple of Elysium Gate. When that happens, the Falcon family will be under Elysium Gate’s protection. No matter how powerful you are, would you dare challenge them?
Kayden said nothing further. He turned, his departure final and resolute. But just as his first step fell, a voice pierced the heavy silence.
“Wait!” Georgia’s shout stopped him in his tracks.
Startled, Kayden froze for a moment. Was this his chance? He turned back, hope rekindled in his eyes, only to see Georgia walking toward him, each step deliberate. The sight made hearts pound among the onlookers. Was she going to leave with him?
Scarlett’s heart raced the fastest of all. “Georgia!-” she began to call out, but before she could finish, Georgia pulled out a piece of paper. Handing it to Kayden, her face was heavy with sorrow.
“This is the divorce agreement. Sign it,” she said quietly.
A collective sigh of relief swept through the Falcon family. Even Scarlett, who had nearly spoken, swallowed her words. Just moments ago, she had feared her daughter would leave with him. Now, she felt vindicated. Perhaps raising her wasn’t in vain after all.
Kayden stared at the divorce agreement, his gaze locked onto the paper, then onto Georgia. Without uttering a single word, he picked up the pen and swiftly signed his name. When he was done, he lifted his eyes to her one last time.
Then, as he turned and walked away, his heart was cold as ice. Why? Why push me to this point?
He couldn’t understand. All he wanted today was to take Georgia away, but it was clear she had made her choice. Even if it was a ridiculous decision, it was still hers.
Clenching his fists, Kayden unleashed a punch on one of the grand pillars of Serenity Grand Hotel. The explosion of force reverberated through the room, the entire structure trembling with its impact. The concrete pillar now bore a deep, cracked dent, evidence of his inhuman strength. It was the kind of raw power no ordinary person could possess.
Georgia stared at the retreating figure of Kayden, her eyes lingering on the mark he’d left behind. Her mind swirled with questions. Why? Why does he act like he’s the one wronged, as if I’m the one who hurt him? Does he really think he did nothing wrong?
He hid his marriage from me, sent his butler to deliver those cruel words, and now comes back to torment me over and over again. Does he think marriage is a joke, that I’m someone he can pick up or discard at will?
Her thoughts spiraled further. What does his punch mean? Frustration? Anger at not getting what he wants?
And that final look he gave her-was that despair? Why does he feel despair? Shouldn’t I be the one broken by all of this?
Georgia had only ever wanted to be his one and only, not a mere concubine. If she couldn’t have that, she was willing to walk away. Was I wrong for that?
She stood frozen, unable to move, haunted by the memory of Kayden’s last glance.
Suddenly, Leah burst into the room, her short hair disheveled, panting heavily. Her wide eyes darted to the stage, where the words of the engagement announcement were prominently displayed. She took in the sight of Georgia standing there in a flowing gown and shook her head in disbelief.
“No, no, no!” Leah exclaimed, her voice trembling.
Leah had just received news that her sister was getting engaged to someone named Luther. Without hesitation, she’d rushed back from Inassea. She couldn’t believe it-didn’t want to believe it. Her sister, engaged to someone else? It was too sudden, too shocking.
“Georgia, what are you doing? Where’s Kayden? Why are you getting engaged to someone else?” Leah’s voice was a mix of disbelief and accusation. Each question struck like a dagger, her steps unsteady as she moved closer, her body trembling like a lifeless shell.
Georgia opened her mouth to respond, but Scarlett interrupted. “You don’t understand, Leah. Stop causing trouble!” Scarlett snapped. “It’s my fault for not telling you sooner, but it’s not too late now. Your sister has divorced that fool, and she’s found true happiness.”
Scarlett gestured dramatically. “Look at what Luther has given your sister-money, nearly three million dollars! A house in the capital! Our entire family can move there, and there’s even a villa in your name. This is a joyous day! Stop mentioning that wretched Kayden. That fool caused enough trouble today. Look around-you saw what he did. He injured Luther and even killed someone here! He’s a murderer and a lunatic. He’s sick in the head, Leah. Don’t let him drag you down with him.”
“No!” Leah screamed, her voice raw with emotion. “No, Kayden isn’t like that! He’s not like that! You don’t understand him. None of you know how good Kayden really is!”
Scarlett’s face darkened. Her youngest daughter’s outburst felt like a slap to her pride. In front of so many people, Leah’s defiance humiliated her. Scarlett prided herself on appearances, and Leah’s words were an affront she couldn’t ignore.
“Leah!” Scarlett barked. “Stop this nonsense and come here! I’m warning you, today is a happy day. Don’t ruin it!”
“I won’t! I just won’t!” Leah shouted, her voice trembling with fury. She retreated a few steps, glaring at her mother with tear-filled eyes.
Scarlett’s face twisted in anger. She opened her mouth to retort, but Leah cut her off.
“All you care about is your pride. To you, Kayden was a disgrace because he was once a fool. Even now, when he’s regained his memory, you still see him as nothing more than a fool. Have you forgotten the ring you’re wearing? The one worth ten million dollars? Kayden sent that to you! Tell me, who else would give you something so valuable? Luther? Maybe. But would he still give it to you after you insulted him, the way Kayden did? Would anyone else forgive you after the way you treated him?”
Leah’s voice grew louder, her words a sharp rebuke. “No one would! No one else would tolerate your abuse and still give you something so precious.”
