Kamara’s POV
I hadn’t seen Diego since I woke up and the entire mansion was empty. Not that I mind. He didn’t even leave a note or anything. After thinking about last night, I might actually be crazy for letting him do that. And he also cleaned me up after I passed out on him. Was it really that good? I shouldn’t have allowed him.
But who wouldn’t? He looked so hot and tempting those eyes threatening to devour me. “Alright, enough, Kamara.” I hummed as I got ready to head to the hospital.
As I got downstairs, I paused to see the dining table set. I walked over to see a small note. “I left home early due to some business. How do you feel? The maids and guards will arrive by 9 one of them will take you out.”
I looked up at the time and I still had 15 minutes left. A small smile appeared on my face as I settled down, opening the dishes, and goodness, they looked so heavenly. I could get used to him cooking for me every day.
I pushed the hospital door open, stepping into the familiar warmth of Nana’s room. She lay propped up on pillows, her silver hair neatly brushed back. Her sharp eyes instantly brightened up at the sight of me.
“Ah, my sweet girl.” She said, smiling as I walked over to her bedside. “You’re back. When you didn’t return last night, my only thought was Diego was being selfish with you again.”
I forced a small chuckle at her words. She just always found a way to brighten up the mood when we were together. “You know nothing can keep me from you, Nana,” I said, reaching for her frail, squeezing it gently.
“Mhn, we’ll see about that.” She muttered playfully before looking over my shoulders towards the entrance. “Look who finally decided to show up. You left me all alone here while your bestie did the same with her man. I thought you forgot about me.”
I turned to see Chantelle trying to close the door. I didn’t even realize the door had opened. “Forgot about you?” Chantelle scoffed as she set her bags aside. “Please, you’d haunt me from the grave if I did.”
Nana let out a raspy laugh, shaking her head. “You know me too well, child.”
It was so great to see Nana was all better and happy now. After a few minutes of light conversation, a nurse entered to check Nana. I took that opportunity to grab Chantelle’s wrist, pulling her out of the room.
“Woah, okay, what’s with the kidnapping?” Chantelle asked, brows raised.
I didn’t answer right away. I dragged her down the hallway into an empty waiting room, making sure no one else was around. “Something happened,” I mumbled, finally letting go of her wrist.
Chantelle’s expression shifted instantly, her playful look fading. “What is it?”
I exhaled sharply, rubbing my temple. “I ran into Ciara.”
Chantelle’s brows shot up in shock. “Your sister? I thought she wasn’t supposed to be in”
“Yeah we’ll, turns out she’s schooling in Atlanta which I wasn’t told about. And married. To a billionaire. And no one in the family knows.”
Chantelle blinked. “What?”
“Yeah, and it gets worse. We got into it and she threatened to tell Mum and Dad about me being in Atlanta.”
Chantelle stared at me, processing the information before letting out a low whistle. “Damn, Kam. That’s bad.”
I let out a bitter laugh. “No kidding. If my entire family finds out the truth, I don’t even know what will happen.”
“You think she’ll actually do it?” Chantelle asked.
“This is Ciara we’re talking about. She’d definitely do it if she’s pushed to and one surprising thing is the fact that my sibling hates me. She said it to my face and told me she hated me.” I said, plopping down on one of the seats and letting out a sigh. I felt as if I wasn’t being tortured enough by having to repay their debts and now, I have to worry about them finding out.
“Are you going to tell Diego about this? I mean, he knows you aren’t telling them about this, doesn’t he?” Chantelle asked and the thoughts of telling Diego what’s gonna happen just made me sick. We weren’t that close except for what happened last night. He wouldn’t care if they told me since I agreed to the proposal.
“No, after what happened last night, I just want to avoid him,” I mumbled but she caught on to my words.
“What happened? I might have told you to go for the date just because it’s your reward for staying with Nana and you might get to make a smoother life for yourself during your pregnancy, but I didn’t ask you two to get in a fight. Or rather, I didn’t ask you to get into a fight with him.”
“Well, we… we had sex,” I whispered and Chantelle looked taken aback, staring at me with an almost shocked look.
“I told you to go on the date, not have sex with him. Kam, the man doesn’t like you.” She shook my shoulders.
“I mean, the doctor said yesterday I’ve been stressing too much recently and the medications weren’t working. That was another solution and to also help for easier labor”
“He is the cause of your stress, Kam.”
“Well, then he should fix it. I got sick during the event and we had to return home.”
“So you left the date early just to have sex?” She raised a brow.
“Come on Chantelle stop being childish.” I patted her head, rising from my seat. “I’ll think something up. Last night, Fernando skipped one of my medications and I have to use them. I’ll see if I can get it in the hospital pharmacy.”
“I’ll stay up with Nana,” Chantelle replied, not even offering to come with me but I really didn’t mind. She was just being childish because of what I did. “Just be careful. We can’t say enemies can’t slip into the hospital.”
The ding of the elevator echoed before the doors pulled open. I walked into the pharmacy glancing down at the written prescription. Apparently, it was a pregnancy supplication drug.
“How many months gone are you?” The woman behind the counter asked as she slid the medication over to me.
“About three,” I replied and I could see a warm smile on her face.
“How lovely” she was suddenly cut off by someone walking up behind me noisily, reaching out to take the pills I had just been given.
“Not only did you lie about being in New York, but now I find out you’re pregnant?” A familiar voice said from behind and I turned to see Ciara standing there, staring at the bottle of pills.
“Hello, sister. Does this mean I’ll be having a nephew soon?”
