Chapter 827: Face Off

Book:A King Reborn in Shadows Published:2025-2-23

Mike Clark?
Adam Davies’s face darkened.
Brandon Pearce and Billy Calder both wore worried expressions.
The news of Adam Davies and Mike Clark swapping positions had been circulating since the last military region competition.
Their relationship was quite complicated.
Mike Clark and his group approached.
Mike Clark’s lips curled up slightly as he said, “Mr. Davies, it’s been almost half a year since we last met.”
“You have more gray hair compared to the last time we met.”
“You have to take care of yourself.”
Adam Davies glanced at Mike Clark’s splendid military uniform with a touch of indifference and said, “Mr. Clark, why are you here in Niarak instead of staying at your residence? Do you have the time for a trip?”
Mike Clark detected a hint of hostility in Adam Davies’s words, but he didn’t mind. He raised an eyebrow and said, “I came to Niarak to take care of some family matters and to visit an old friend. But it seems like Mr. Davies isn’t very welcoming.”
Adam Davies chuckled lightly, “Mr. Clark, it’s a shame you came at such an inconvenient time. Under normal circumstances, I would surely host you properly, but I’m afraid I’ve been quite busy lately and won’t be able to give you the attention you deserve.”
His words subtly signaled that it was time for him and his group to leave.
Inside, however, he couldn’t help but scoff in disdain.
Visiting an old friend?
He had always been in the Pelens Military Region. It was just a coincidence that he came to Niarak this time, and Mike Clark followed him.
It was too much of a coincidence, wasn’t it?
Mike Clark must have already investigated his whereabouts!
Mike Clark naturally understood Adam Davies’ meaning but had no intention of leaving. He pretended not to understand and waved his hand, saying, “Mr. Davies, there’s no need to be so polite. I just came to have a chat. Let’s forget about having a meal together.”
“I’ll treat you when you come to Slatin!”
“But the Shipmeda State Military Region does indeed have a heavy workload. Every year, you have to prepare for the military region competition.”
“In Slatin, we are not that busy. After all, we don’t participate in the military region competition!”
“Mr. Davies, you must be very busy these days. But don’t worry. In the second half of the year, you will be able to enjoy a leisurely life in Slatin. Otherwise, in a few more years, your hair will be completely white.”
A hint of disdain flashed in Adam Davies’s eyes.
This man finally revealed his true colors.
He couldn’t wait to become the commander of the Shipmeda State Military Region.
But unfortunately for him, he would be disappointed!
The conversation between the two seemed harmonious but was filled with tension.
But it was not surprising since they belonged to different factions.
Adam Davies was affiliated with the sixth elder of the Dragonguard, while Mike Clark was aligned with the third elder.
Moreover, Adam Davies rejected the request for an alliance from the third elder and had been targeted by him for three years. Naturally, they didn’t get along well with each other.
Unlike Mike Clark’s aggressive attitude, Adam Davies laughed heartily and said, “Mr. Clark is talking about our swapping positions, right?”
“Do you not trust me?”
Mike Clark glanced around the Edge Facility and coldly said, “Adam Davies shouldn’t try to act strong.”
“Since you rejected the family alliance proposed by the third elder of the Dragonguard, everyone knows that Blade Special Forces has been unable to find a decent chief instructor.”
“Last year, there were even team members who weren’t Inner Force Masters.”
“There were only Ethan Langley and Clayton Robinson from Haralu who were Semi-Grandmasters.”
“But if you look at other military regions, their special forces are made up of Inner Force Masters, and they even have more than one Grandmaster!”
“Even Flame Dragon Special Forces has a great Grandmaster now.”
“I’m curious how Blade Special Forces will handle the military region competition in three days,” Mike Clark remarked.
Adam Davies raised an eyebrow in mockery, “Oh? It seems Mr. Clark is quite interested in my Blade Special Forces, even knowing the names of my team members.”
“I can’t even remember all their names myself,” he added with a smirk.
Mike Clark, unfazed, laughed heartily, “After the military region competition, I’ll be transferring to Shipmeda State Military Region as the commander, so of course, I need to gather some intel in advance. After all, I have to prepare for next year’s competition.”
“I need to learn from past mistakes and not follow in Adam Davies’ footsteps!”
With that, he looked puzzled and asked, “Mr. Davies, it’s training time for your team. Why haven’t I seen them around?”
“Are they out training?”
Brandon Pearce coolly interjected, “My team is currently enjoying a soak. They’ll be divided into squads for competition soon. If Mr. Clark has no further business, I’d kindly ask you to leave the training area.”
“Soaking?” Mike Clark blinked in surprise, shaking his head with a wry smile. “I guess Blade Special Forces members really have it good, enjoying a bath service so early in the morning.”
“Mr. Davies, I have to say, the chief instructor of Blade Special Forces certainly knows how to have fun.”
Hearing Mike Clark’s sarcastic remarks, Adam Davies felt a swell of pride instead of anger. “My chief instructor has a unique training method, so there’s no need for Mr. Clark to worry about that.”
“Just wait until the military region competition. You can quietly watch as Blade Special Forces takes first place.”
At this point, he paused, then smirked, “Oh, my apologies, Mr. Clark. You don’t belong to one of the top ten military regions, so you won’t be qualified to watch the event live. I almost forgot, haha-”
Mike Clark’s expression darkened, with a glint of coldness flashing in his eyes.
Mike Clark’s team was akin to a SWAT team, responsible for tackling crime and maintaining public order.
In contrast, special forces’ duty lay on the smoke-filled battlefield.
Mike Clark indeed lacked the qualifications to participate, which was precisely why he was so eager to replace Adam Davies.
Only by serving in the military region could he have the chance to enter the Ostradian War Office.
“Since I can’t go, I’ll take this opportunity to appreciate the skills of the Blade Special Forces members in advance. Mr. Davies, you wouldn’t mind, would you?” Mike Clark smiled.
Adam Davies’s eyes flashed with disdain. Mike Clark truly would not give up easily.
“Sure, once my team is out, Mr. Clark can take a look.”

In the herbal bath room.
Thirty wooden tubs were arranged in three rows.
Flynn scooped a handful of water and sniffed it.
Everything seemed fine. Brandon Pearce followed his instructions meticulously.
“Focus on opening up the meridians, with the herbal bath as a supplement. Now, everyone take off your clothes and get in. I’ll enhance the effects of the herbs.”
“Yes, sir!”
Following Flynn’s command, Clayton Robinson and the others began to strip. Just then, a flustered female voice rang out.
“Hey, hey, I’m a girl. This isn’t appropriate, is it?”
Laughter erupted instantly.
Only then did they remember there was a girl among them.
Flynn was slightly taken aback and explained, “The herbal bath can increase muscle strength and enhance endurance.”
“However, these benefits can also be achieved through daily training.”
“And I need to open up their meridians on their backs to help accelerate absorption once they’re in the tubs. You won’t be able to join.”
“Please step outside.”
“Ah?! Daily training?” Faith Mccarth was displeased. “Doesn’t that mean I’m at a disadvantage compared to them?”
Clayton Robinson burst into laughter, “Did you not hear what Mr. Clark said, Faith Mccarth? We need to be completely naked. If you join us, wouldn’t that put you at an even bigger disadvantage?”
“You guys… hum!” Faith Mccarth’s face turned red with anger as she mumbled, “Who said I wanted to join you? There’s a potion storage room nearby. I’m going there.”
“Mr. Clark, can I?”
Seeing Faith Mccarth’s pleading expression, Flynn sighed, “Alright, Clayton Robinson, help Faith Mccarth carry a tub in!”
Faith Mccarth giggled as she watched Flynn teach Clayton Robinson a lesson, boasting, “Did you hear that, Clayton Robinson? Hurry up!”
Clayton Robinson felt a bit disgruntled. He merely teased her, and as expected, Mr. Clark stood up for Faith Mccarth…
Though he grumbled internally, he obediently lifted a tub filled with herbal solution and carried it to the next room.
Faith Mccarth followed him inside.
Once Clayton Robinson emerged, the twenty-some team members quickly jumped into the tubs.
Flynn instructed them to face the same direction while he walked among them, tapping on their acupoints.
After finishing outside amidst a chorus of relaxed shouts, Flynn headed to the potion storage room.
The male team members’ eyes filled with envy.
Faith Mccarth was indeed the undisputed beauty in Blade Special Forces.
Standing 1. 7 meters tall, with a delicate face and sharply defined features, she was almost sculptural in perfection.
She had a high nose bridge, short black hair, and eyes that sparkled like stars. Her figure was stunning, with a slim waist and alluring curves. Her long legs, accentuated by her military uniform, were even more enchanting, while her ample bosom made one’s heart race.
Now she was bathing naked as Flynn opened up meridians on her back.
That scene, wow…
