Kathleen was taken aback, not expecting Camille to be so gentle. She had prepared herself for Camille to be as dominant and overbearing as Ayan, but now it seemed that she had been overly worried.
The two locked eyes for a moment before Kathleen spoke softly, “You can just call me Kathleen.”
Camille nodded without any objections, “Kathleen, I came to Flento City specifically to see you. Crystal must have told you about it, right?”
Kathleen nodded, saying, “Yes, she did. Feel free to ask me anything you want to know. I will tell you everything.”
With that said, Camille thought there was no need to beat around the bush.
Nodding slightly, Camille asked, “I do have a few questions. I want to know what the other party’s last name is.”
Camille didn’t ask Crystal about this, nor did she ask Ayan. She didn’t even bother to look it up herself. Her resources and connections were definitely not as strong as Ayan’s, but with some channels, she could still gather some information.
However, she didn’t want to waste her time on that. She didn’t even ask Brody when she was confronting him.
Crystal stood up and said, “I’ll wait outside. That’s something I can’t hear. It’s a rule in the Bill family. Camille, I’ll be waiting for you out there.”
“Alright then, you go ahead. Yessica is in the adjacent room. Don’t let her see you.”
Camille reminded her in a low voice and no longer insisted on making Crystal stay.
After Crystal left, the room became even quieter.
The two people who knew nothing about each other sat together, looking at each other with indifferent gazes and remaining silent.
Finally, Camille broke the silence by saying, “You haven’t answered my previous question yet!”
“Wyatt.”
Kathleen slightly raised her eyebrows and met Camille’s gaze. She said, “The Wyatt family didn’t start in Flento City, and their development isn’t limited to Flento City either. The Wyatt family has been a hidden powerhouse for many years. Due to their low profile, not many people have heard of them, but there are countless industries related to the Wyatt family.”
Her brief introduction to the Wyatt family was enough to leave Camille stunned in surprise.
The Wyatt family was indeed powerful.
Kathleen continued, “The patriarch, your grandfather, is getting old now and relies on medication for support. There aren’t many people left in the Wyatt family. If we count only direct descendants of the Wyatt family, there is only one person left-you, Camille. May I call you that?”
Camille had no objections and simply nodded while looking at Kathleen.
She listened quietly as Kathleen talked about many things related to the Wyatt family.
The Wyatt family was a true aristocratic family. They remained low-key but never declined. The industries associated with the Wyatt family were spread across many cities and even abroad. Everything was managed by professional teams.
The Wyatt family held a high position, but they didn’t want too much attention, so they chose to keep a low profile. However, this approach had only been adopted in the past twenty years or so. Previously, the Wyatt family had been very high-profile.
But then they encountered many things.
At this point, Kathleen paused and said, “I married into the Wyatt family less than twenty years ago, so I’m not very clear about specific matters.”
Even she didn’t know? It must be extremely secretive.
But secretive matters would eventually be exposed one day.
Now that Joseph Wyatt’s days were numbered, who would inherit all the properties left by him?
This was one of the main reasons why Camille came today. She looked at Kathleen and asked, “Did you go through all this trouble to find me because you want to acknowledge me and then return home to inherit everything from the Wyatt family?”
Kathleen showed no embarrassment. Instead, she smiled.
She said, “How is that possible? But if I say that, no one won’t believe me-sometimes, I myself doubt it too. After all, denying that I have no intention seems useless. But, no, I’m not doing this for inheritance. Of course, I would like it if I could because the Bill family has fallen. I would love to have power and money in my hands. Who wouldn’t want them? But some things can’t be achieved just because I want them.”
Kathleen explained calmly. Perhaps she was worried that Camille wouldn’t believe her. She quickly added, “But I won’t deny that Joseph did promise me something. If I can convince you to return to the Wyatt family, he will give me a sum of money-enough for the Bill family to make a comeback or even establish a firm foothold in the business world.”
The Bill family was truly declining. Without sufficient financial support, the Bill family would only continue to regress.
Kathleen had been raised like a princess since childhood and had loving parents. Life was naturally good for her when the Bill family was thriving at that time. After marrying into the Wyatt family, she continued to enjoy life as a wealthy lady.
She had never experienced hardships in her life. Even now, she didn’t have to do the chores herself.
Such a pampered lady naturally couldn’t tolerate any hardships.
After enjoying good days, of course, she wanted them to continue.
Kathleen didn’t hide anything from Camille. What she wanted and what she didn’t want were all clearly communicated.
She talked about many things but deliberately avoided mentioning anything about what happened after marrying into the Wyatt family-such as Camille’s biological father or biological mother.
What exactly happened between them?
Camille didn’t intend to ask because she didn’t know how.
She responded calmly to Kathleen’s interest in inheriting the Wyatt family’s wealth but acknowledged that she didn’t have what it took to actually claim it.
Camille asked, “The Wyatt family is doing this to keep you in check. Are you okay with that?”
“It’s not that I can stop it just because I’m not okay with it. Besides, I don’t even have the right to choose in these matters.”
“But if the Wyatt family is left with only you, wouldn’t you be entitled to inherit everything?” Camille voiced her doubt.
Kathleen smiled bitterly, her eyes lifting to meet Camille’s. “No, that would only happen if there were no will. But Joseph has already drafted his will long ago, and only those close to him know what it contains.”
“You are the future head of the Wyatt family. This shouldn’t be too difficult for you, right?”
“It’s not as simple as you think.”
She explained briefly, “The Wyatt family has its own rules. If things were that easy, the Wyatt family wouldn’t have remained under Joseph’s sole control until now.”
Camille didn’t quite understand her meaning, but looking at her tired and sorrowful face, she felt an indescribable emotion welling up inside her.
Frowning slightly, Camille looked at her with a serious expression and asked, “Have you ever thought about having a child of your own?”
