Chapter One Hundred and Two

The time had come that Dad and Uncle Vladimir had to leave to return to court. They promised to come back after they were released for the day. They couldn’t wait to tell the rest of the family about the pregnancy-but they promised to let me tell them tonight when they brought them to the hospital for a visit. I texted Alpha Richard that I needed to talk to him when he was finished with court since he was in court today.
Our day was relatively boring at the hospital but it got more interesting when everyone showed up after dinner. Dad was one of the first ones through the door followed closely by Sophia. She was worried about me and why I suddenly got a migraine again.
“Melanie, how are you feeling? What happened to cause you to get a migraine?” questioned Sophia.
“Slow down Soph. I’ll explain everything in a minute once everyone gets in and settled. How was court this afternoon? Who testified?” I questioned to no one in particular.
“I had the pleasure of testifying this afternoon followed by Alpha Richard. It was a blast, let me tell you,” stated Dad sarcastically.
“I bet it was. Now you know how nerve-wracking it is to have everyone looking at you while they’re asking you questions. I hated it this morning. At one point, I thought I was going to break down and cry,” I explained to everyone in the room.
“Yes, but you didn’t and I am so proud of you. You held your head up and said everything you had to without breaking down,” Mom praised as she held Austin.
“I know but it also strengthened my headache which led me here. I couldn’t eat very much for lunch nor am I feeling too great,” I explained to everyone.
“That Franklin is a piece of work. He kept trying to paint you as a loose she-wolf who chased after Michael all through childhood. I set him straight real quick so did Alpha Richard. We weren’t having any of that,” explained Dad.
“We sure did. Every time Michael came around the pack, the way he treated you or interacted with you spoke volumes. I made sure I gave examples of how the two of you interacted with each other. I told them how he treated you especially recently,” explained Alpha Richard.
“Really? Even though we only saw each other maybe once every other year or so? What an arrogant piece of … sorry Michael just infuriates me,” I growled.
“We know!” everyone replied in unison.
“Hey, you didn’t hear the best part-when we went back after lunch, Queen Sophia asked the Judge for a moment of indulgence or something or other. Anyway, she explained that you and Delta Anthony would not be available this afternoon because you were being admitted to the hospital per Dr. Wyatt’s orders. Like that was some sort of code. Mr. Franklin demanded to know why you were being admitted and Sophia turned around and said to his face, ‘Its none of your business because you are not family.’ It was priceless. I loved the look on his face,” bellowed Daniel.
“Danny, not so loud, please. Your sister has a migraine and cannot take loud noises right now,” admonished Mom to her youngest pup.
“Sorry, Mom. Sorry, Mellie. Anyway, then Sophia does one better. She turns to the entire courtroom and says, ‘Everyone in this courtroom is now under Alpha command not to repeat anything they just heard in the courtroom.’ We all had to answer her, of course. Even Alpha King Matthew had to answer her. It was priceless,” Danny chuckled as the rest of them started to howl with laughter.
Sophia simply shrugged her shoulders as if to say it was nothing. Even I had to chuckle at the antics in the room. Dad nudged me as if to say, ‘Tell them already.’ I got the hint. When the laughter died down, we got everyone’s attention for our little announcement.
“Listen, there’s more to why I got a migraine. Yes, I have been stressed out to the max because of having to repeat everything in open court in front of a room full of people. And Michael made me feel weak even though I am not. Also, according to Dr. Wyatt, I am extremely fertile because I am pregnant again with twins,” I announced to everyone in the room.
It took a moment for the news to sink in before the room erupted into cheers of happiness.
“Oh, Mellie and Anthony that’s great news! Congratulations!” exclaimed Danny.
Congratulations were being given out by everyone in the room. Anthony was being clapped on the back in congratulations or his hand being shaken while I was receiving hugs and kisses from everyone. The family stayed for a while longer talking about this and that. Sophia came and sat beside me. She was so happy for me.
“So, we get to have babies together. I’m so happy for you,” gushed Sophia.
“Just be happy that wolf pregnancies are only five and a half months to six months long and not 9 months like human pregnancies. It’ll be great to raise them together. Maybe they’ll be close just like we are,” I gushed as I hugged her.
“I know right? If only they could be so lucky,” giggled Sophia.
Uncle Vladimir announced that it was time for everyone to leave because I needed my rest. Also, I was still getting over a migraine. Everyone told me goodnight and goodbye. I told them I would see them tomorrow. I wanted to go home to the villa tomorrow and not to court but we’ll see what tomorrow holds.
The night was uneventful as I hoped it would be. Austin woke up for his feedings like clockwork. I had a restful night in spite of everything. I was looking forward to returning to a somewhat normal routine. I was hoping I could go back to Uncle Vladimir’s villa and rest for the day but we shall see what the day holds.
