We couldn’t leave the courtroom fast enough. I needed to use the restroom, really I needed to throw up. My stomach was upset. Sophia followed me into the restroom to see if I needed any help. Of course, my wolf told my Dad that I was sick and he told everyone else. It set everyone into a panic, of course.
When we emerged from the restroom, Uncle Vladimir was the first one to say something, “Mellie, how are you feeling? Do we need to take you to see Dr. Wyatt?”
“I don’t know. If I keep throwing up like I do, I’m thinking I do need to go. Right now, I need to go and feed Austin. May I get some crackers and Ginger Ale? Maybe that will settle my stomach,” I suggested as Anthony wrapped his arm around my waist.
“Let’s try that first. If you don’t feel better this afternoon, we will have Dr. Wyatt pay you a visit. How about that?” asked a concerned Uncle Vladimir.
“Okay, I’ll go for that. Can we please go now? I want to hold my son,” I declared as we continued to walk toward the castle.
“Come my love, I’ll take you to our son,” cooed Anthony in my ear. ‘You did good on the stand today. I’m so proud of you.’
‘Thank you, my love. I needed to hear that,’ I cooed back at him as we walked.
We made it back to our room in the castle. I quickly went over to my son and picked him up even though he was asleep, I had to hold him. I needed his comfort. Mom wrapped me up in a hug. Then she kissed me because she sensed that I needed her love as well.
“Melanie, you did good on the stand today. I’m proud of you,” declared Dad as we all got comfortable in the sitting area.
“Thank you, Dad. I almost lost it when she asked me about what happened at the pack hospital. But I managed to pull it back together,” I shared as we all talked about what happened in the courtroom today.
“Do you think they will call Melanie back to the stand again?” asked Anthony to Dad.
“Probably, especially after they call Tate to the stand. He’s going to be the clincher for sure. I couldn’t believe Michael was trying to say Melanie was secretly in love with him and that the sex was consensual. I wanted to rip his throat out when Mr. Franklin said that,” Dad growled menacingly to which he frightened Austin.
“Dad don’t scare Austin,” I chastised him.
“Sorry Mellie. It just makes me angry that he would even try that angle in the first place,” argued Dad.
“I know. Michael’s always been an entitled, arrogant jerk. I wouldn’t give him the time of day, especially after he got his wolf, remember?” I pointed out to Dad. “Every time he was around he tried to make himself seem so much better than everyone else. It made me sick. I couldn’t wait to get away from him,” I revealed to everyone.
“I remember. Sometimes it was really funny the excuses you came up with to get away from him. Not a lot of people liked him after he got his wolf. He changed a lot after he got his wolf. His views changed-I wonder who helped changed them? No one really knows who,” shared Dad.
“No matter. It’s in the past-water under the bridge so to speak. Dad, do you think we can have Dr. Wyatt make a trip to see me? I really don’t feel well. After I feed Austin, I need to lie down for a little while or I need to go to the pack hospital. What do you think?” I asked him point blank.
“Melanie asking to go see the doctor. Now, I know something is wrong. Let me talk with Vladimir and see what he wants to do. I’ll be right back,” advised Dad. He kissed me on the forehead and walked out the door.
Dad was gone about eight minutes when he and Uncle Vladimir came in the room.
“Melanie, Dr. Wyatt is expecting you at the pack hospital. Let’s go so we can find out why you are not feeling well. Okay?” commanded Uncle Vladimir.
“Yes sir. I’m ready. Mom, will you and Anthony please come with me? I don’t want to be separated from you all. Please?” I begged.
“Of course, I can come with Austin. If this would help ease your mind, I would do it in a heartbeat. I know Anthony’s coming along no matter what anyway. So, what are we waiting for?” asked my Mom.
“Thank you, Mom. You’re the best,” I gushed as I hugged her. We made sure Austin had everything he needed in his diaper bag. He was already asleep in his stroller.
We left for the pack hospital in search of answers. It took us five minutes to get there. Dr. Wyatt met us outside and ushered us inside to an awaiting room.
“Dutchess Melanie, what brings you in today?” questioned Dr. Wyatt.
“Well, to be frank, I feel crappy. I have been throwing up since yesterday. I can’t keep anything on my stomach. I have a headache-it hasn’t gone into a migraine. It has remained at a slight headache. I don’t know if it is the stress of having to testify or something else. I just know … I don’t feel well. I need to feel better especially since I am breastfeeding my son,” I explained to Dr. Wyatt.
“I understand. First, let me get a blood draw. Let me see where your numbers are. Then, I will give you a cursory examination. Does Dr. Adams think you might be going into a migraine?” asked Dr. Wyatt. “Should I contact him to ask him?”
“That might be a good idea,” suggested Dad. “He would know if her headache is headed toward a migraine.”
“Okay, let me get that blood draw first. Then, let me call Dr. Adams,” advised Dr. Wyatt as he got the materials he needed. He worked efficiently. Then, he stepped out so he could make his call.
Dr. Wyatt came back in thirty minutes later. He had a blank look on his face. I’m not sure I liked that look. Usually when a doctor comes in with that kind of look, they have bad news for us.
“Well, I’ve talked to Dr. Adams. We are in agreement that with you having to testify you are under a tremendous amount of stress. You are in the beginning of a migraine. We will treat you for the migraine-we will set up an IV solution now. It could be the reason for your queasiness or not. Also, it seems that you are pregnant,” announced Dr. Wyatt.
“Wh … what? Pregnant? Are you sure?” I stammered as I looked at a stunned Anthony.
“Yes, your bloodwork shows you are two weeks along Dutchess Melanie,” stated Dr. Wyatt. “Your son is a month old. It appears that you are very fertile. If you do not wish to become pregnant, we will have to have you on birth control.”
“Anthony, my love? Are you all right? Are you happy?” I asked him as I continued to gauge his reaction.
“Happy? Are you kidding me? I am so happy I could burst. I love you so much Melanie. You know I want a big family. This makes me so happy. Are you happy, my love?” asked an ecstatic Anthony.
“Yes, I’m happy and shocked. I wasn’t expecting on having another pup so soon, but yes, I’m more than happy to be having another pup,” I exclaimed as tears started to stream down my face.
“Congratulations Melanie and Anthony!” my Mom, Dad, and Uncle Vladimir said in unison. They all had proud expressions on their faces.
“Um … Dr. Wyatt, can you do us a favor? Will you do an ultrasound to see how many babies I am carrying? I seem to have a penchant for twins. Am I carrying twins this time or a single baby?” I asked him.
“I can do that for you. I’ll go get the machine after I set up the IV for you,” Dr. Wyatt stated. “By the way, you will be admitted to the hospital tonight. Duke Vladimir, you will need to tell the court that Dutchess Melanie and Delta Anthony will not be available for the rest of the day due to a migraine. She has been admitted to the hospital. If they have a problem with that, have the judge call me,” declared Dr. Wyatt.
“I will do so. Thank you Dr. Wyatt,” advised Uncle Vladimir.
Dr. Wyatt walked out of the room to get the ultrasound machine. We were all silent while he was gone. When he came back in, we all watched him work. When the image came up on the screen, Mom started crying. I was carrying TWINS again. This was my second chance at having twins.
