Chapter Eighty-Seven

Book:Delta's Rejected Daughter Published:2025-2-19

The next few weeks have flown by quickly. We are getting ready for our vacation in Europe and the coronation. We packed and got ready to leave for the airport. We were boarding our plane for Europe today. I was nervous because I was officially five months and one week pregnant. I didn’t want to give birth to our son on an airplane in the middle of nowhere.
Dad was assuming Delta duties until he came over in two weeks for Sophia’s coronation. I was excited to be able to spend some quality time alone with Anthony before the baby came.
“Baby, how are you feeling today? I feel your anxiety. What can I do to make you feel better? Hmm?” cooed Anthony as he rubbed my back.
“I have a slight headache today and I’m nervous about flying while I’m pregnant. I don’t want to deliver our son on an airplane,” I answered him honestly while looking into his gorgeous blue eyes.
“I understand that. We need to travel today before it becomes too late for you to travel. We should have traveled last week but we had to delay due to the weather conditions. There was nothing we could do about it,” purred Anthony as he continued to comfort me.
“I know my love. I’m just going to continue to take things as they come today. I’m not going to stress out about them. Just tell me when I need to move and I’ll move. Until then, I’m not moving from this spot on the couch unless I have to go to the bathroom. Sound like a plan?” I asked my mate.
“Sounds like a plan,” replied Anthony as he kissed my lips gently. He continued to finish doing everything we needed to do before we left.
Mom and Dad were at our house so they could ride with us to the airport to see us off. Mom appeared with my headache medicine and some Ginger Ale.
“Here my girl. Take this and just relax. We won’t be leaving for the airport for another twenty minutes. You can sit back and close your eyes and take the edge off that headache,” advised Mom like she always did. Did I mention how much I love my Mom? She simply is the best Mom anyone could possibly ever want to have.
“Thanks, Mom. I will,” I replied. I took the medicine and got comfortable on the couch. I closed my eyes and listened to the activity in the room.
I guess I did fall asleep because I awoke on an airplane. We were getting ready to take off. Anthony was just fastening my seatbelt when I woke up.
“Hey, we’re about to take off. Afterward, I’ll take you to the suite they have for us and put you to bed for a while so you can go back to sleep, my love. How does your head feel?” asked a very concerned Anthony. He already knew the answer to that question because of the mate bond but he wanted me to say it out loud.
“It still hurts, it’s getting worse. Did Dr. Adams send the treatment for a migraine with us so I could get treatment?” I inquired with my eyes closed and my head on Anthony’s shoulder.
“Yes, he did along with instructions on what to do. Don’t worry my love, we know how to take care of you. Just sit back and relax,” cooed Anthony as he caressed our son.
The plane took off and after we reached our proper altitude, we were allowed to move freely in the cabin. Anthony didn’t waste any time unbuckling my seatbelt and carrying me into the bedroom. He gently laid me down on the bed before the door opened again and the doctor walked in along with the nurse carrying my medicine.
“Dr. Wyatt, long time no see. I didn’t expect to see you until I touched down in Europe,” I stated with a surprise tone coating my voice.
“It’s good to see you again Dutchess Melanie. I’m sorry that you are not feeling well today. Duke Vladimir suggested I fly in with the jet so I could fly back with you. He wanted to ensure you had a safe flight over. Now then, let’s get you feeling better. Hmm?” explained Dr. Wyatt.
“Thank you, Dr. Wyatt. Have you met my mate, Anthony Harrison?” I asked him before he started the treatment.
“Yes, I introduced myself when he boarded the plane carrying you. Then he explained that you had a headache that was quickly becoming a migraine. We can’t have that now, can we? Also, he explained that you are nervous about flying because you do not want to give birth to your son while flying today. I can totally understand. I will do everything to help you not do that. So, let’s start the IV medicine to stop this migraine before it becomes a menace,” advised Dr. Wyatt.
“Sounds like a plan. Thank you,” I stated as I held Anthony’s hand.
“Now, the medicine will make you drowsy so please do not fight the medicine. We will come and check on you periodically. I encourage your mate to lay next to you-the mate bond will help ease the headache and your anxiety. Let’s get started, shall we?” inquired Dr. Wyatt.
“Yes, let’s,” I replied as I got comfortable on the bed.
Dr. Wyatt did a cursory check of the baby and everything else after the IV was started. He told me to relax and sleep for a little while. He would be back shortly to check up on me. Anthony thanked him. Dr. Wyatt and the nurse left the room so we could cuddle. I was already half asleep when Anthony slid into bed next to me.
I do not know what they put in that IV, but I slept for over ten hours. I guess I really needed the sleep. I woke up feeling much better. My head didn’t really hurt that much but I did feel groggy and I was really hungry.
Dr. Wyatt came in and checked me and the baby out. He declared that we were well enough to get up from the bed and move back into the main cabin area. He would have them bring me something to eat before I moved back into the main cabin area.
Anthony and I shared a meal and I changed my clothes into something a little more appropriate since Anthony put me in a nightshirt to sleep in. We got comfortable in the main cabin area with everyone else. Not even two hours later, I went into labor. Just what I was hoping to avoid.
Dr. Wyatt had me taken back to the same room to check me out. I was in labor and the baby was not in distress which was good news. Dr. Wyatt was confident that with two hours left of our flight, I would give birth to our son at the pack hospital instead of on the airplane. I just hope so. They continued to monitor me and the baby while we were still in the air.
Finally, we touched down only to be met by an anxious Uncle Vladimir who wanted to get me to the pack hospital as quickly as possible. Dr. Wyatt assured him that I still had plenty of time before I would deliver my son. Okay, whatever people.
No sooner had we arrived at the pack hospital and they whisked me into a room, my son wanted to be born. Anthony was more than happy that we finally made it to the pack hospital. He didn’t want me to give birth in the airplane either.
Uncle Friedrich, Aunt Philipa, Sophia, Mason, and Ophelia were waiting with Uncle Vladimir in the waiting room waiting for the news of my son. They didn’t have to wait very long. Thirty minutes after we arrived, Austin Henry Harrison II arrived weighing 5 lbs. 8 oz. and was19 inches long. He had dark brown hair just like his daddy.
“Congratulations Dutchess Melanie. He appears to be very healthy. I’m going to take a blood sample from him since you suffered from silver poisoning while you were pregnant. Just to err on the side of caution. Dr. Adams wanted me to do so,” explained Dr. Wyatt.
“Thank you, Dr. Wyatt,” I replied as I waited for my son to be handed back to me. Anthony kissed me gently on the lips while we waited.
“Here is your son Dutchess Melanie,” exclaimed a nurse as she handed me my son.
“Oh Mellie, he’s beautiful just like you!” exclaimed Anthony as he caressed his son’s cheek. “Everyone is waiting to come in, is it okay to let them in?” inquired Anthony to Dr. Wyatt.
“Absolutely. Let me show them in,” declared Dr. Wyatt as he went to the door. “Alpha King Friedrich, Dutchess Melanie is now ready to receive visitors,” announced Dr. Wyatt holding the door open.
Everyone walked into the room to see our son.
“Congratulations Melanie and Anthony on your son,” exclaimed Uncle Friedrich.
“I would like to introduce our son, Austin Henry Harrison II,” Anthony proudly announced to everyone present.
“Welcome Duke Austin to the European Royal Family,” announced Uncle Friedrich.
Everyone gathered around to see our son. Anthony allowed them to hold him. Austin was passed around the room to everyone. I was hugged and kissed by everyone as was Austin. What a way to make an entrance to Europe.
We stayed in our happy family bubble for a few hours. We FaceTimed with Mom, Dad, Danny, and Rebecca introducing them to our son. The pack was thrilled to have a Delta Heir. Uncle Friedrich announced that he had to leave to attend royal duties. I told him ‘No worries.’ We were taken care of here.
Soon, everyone had to leave for the evening and it was just Anthony and I with our new bundle of joy. We shared a quiet dinner before I had to feed Austin. We finally were able to go to sleep before we were awakened a couple of hours later to feed him again. Jet Lag and having a baby do not mix very well. My sleep routine is definitely out of whack. Poor Anthony, I told him not to worry about anything and to go back to sleep, which he did.
Uncle Vladimir came the next morning to take us to his villa. We were staying with him while we were here. I was looking forward to being his guest. I used to love waking up in the mornings and going for walks in his garden. It was one of my favorite things to do. I wanted to introduce Anthony to all of my favorite things to do at Uncle Vladimir’s villa. Now, I get to include Austin in our little adventures. I can’t wait.
