Chapter: Eighty-Five

Dad informed Alpha Richard that Rebecca had delivered her son. It was announced to the entire pack. Howls and cheers were heard in the distance.
“Congratulations Danny and Rebecca! Hunter is absolutely beautiful!” I gushed as I held him while they both ate some food.
“Thanks Mellie. Just you wait until it’s your turn. I hope we didn’t steal your name for your son,” teased Danny while he ate his food.
“Well, …” I hesitated as I looked at Anthony who nodded at me. “we decided to name our son after his father. So, his name will be Austin Henry Harrison, II,” I announced to everyone in the room.
“Oh, Mellie and Anthony, that’s … that’s perfect. What a way to honor the memory of your father Anthony,” gushed my Mother who was near tears.
“I don’t remember much about my parents but I thought this would be a good way to honor him. Melanie agreed,” Anthony stated with a few unshed tears in his eyes.
Dad came over to Anthony and clapped him on the shoulder. “Anthony, this is the perfect way to honor your father. I’m proud of you and Melanie,” he exclaimed as he brought him into a hug.
“Thank you, Dad. That means a lot to me,” sniffled Anthony.
After all the mushiness, we said our goodbyes to Daniel and Rebecca so they could get some rest. I needed to take a nap because I was tired and desperately needed some sleep.
When we arrived at home, Anthony came up to the bedroom with me. I was so tired I could barely keep my eyes open. The hazards of being four months pregnant I suppose. I barely got my clothes off and slipped on my nightshirt before I slipped into bed before I fell asleep. I slept through dinner which shouldn’t have alarmed Anthony since I was late getting my nap but it did alarm him. I woke up sometime around 8 PM.
Mom and Dad were at my house along with Alpha Richard to see why I was still asleep. When I came down the stairs, I surprised them all.
“Melanie, you’re finally awake! Why were you asleep for so long?” questioned my dad.
“I was tired and I didn’t take my nap until late in the afternoon. Why are you panicking? Didn’t Dr. Adams explain that as my pregnancy progresses, I will need more sleep? I was tired Dad. Please don’t panic. I’m okay. Did you call Dr. Adams?” I questioned my Dad.
“Yes, we did. He is on his way over here right now to check you out. Don’t fight me on this Melanie,” stated Dad in his no-nonsense voice.
“Yes, Dad. I promise. Let me go find something to eat. I’m hungry. Hi Mom,” I said as I hugged and kissed her when I walked into the kitchen in search of food.
“Are you hungry Melanie? Here, sit down at the table. Let me get you something to eat. What are you in the mood to eat?” inquired Mom with a worried expression on her face.
“I’m not really sure. I don’t want anything too heavy. Maybe something lite like eggs and toast. Ooohhh, I know. Pancakes and eggs. That sounds like heaven right now Mom,” I explained with a goofy grin on my face.
Mom only chuckled at me. “I remember those days. I used to get the weirdest cravings. I used to send your father out for different kinds of foods and snacks in the middle of the night. He hated it,” Mom laughed as she reminisced.
We spent the next ten minutes talking about the different cravings we’ve had and how our mates have handled them. The whole time we’re laughing about them at the expense of our mate’s pride. Sorry guys but being pregnant is no joke either.
I was happily eating my pancakes and eggs when Dr. Adams came into the kitchen. He simply raised an eyebrow at me and didn’t say a word. He waited patiently for me to finish. I guess he knew better than to interrupt a pregnant she-wolf while she was eating.
Dr. Adams examined me in my home office. He confirmed that I was alright and that I was just simply tired. He wanted me to come by the pack hospital tomorrow for a follow-up and an ultrasound just to make sure. Sure, no problem doc. Anything to make you, Alpha Richard, Anthony, and my parents happy.
My wolf told me the pup was fine. She was just tired-being pregnant isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. I know right?! We can’t shift and she’s getting a little restless. Not to mention that I have pulled Anthony aside often for a quickie during the day because the pregnancy hormones have made me hornier than ever.
Dr. Adams left after I assured him that I would see him tomorrow. Also, Alpha Richard left as well since he knew I was going to go see Dr. Adams. Mom and Dad said they would see me tomorrow as well. We were finally alone again.
Why do I have to have all this drama in my life? Why? I do not know. I was more than happy to crawl back into bed to go back to sleep but not before I had my sexy time with Anthony.
Did I mention that I love, I mean really love my mate?
We awoke the next morning to the ringing of my phone. It was Uncle Friedrich calling to let us know that they had encountered a problem with Doyle Kessler. He had been seen in Europe. Not a good thing. They had been tracking him in Italy and France. With Sophia’s coronation coming up, they would be vigilant and track him carefully. Hopefully, they could capture him and end this nonsense.
I asked if he had already informed Dad about this and he said yes. “How are you feeling Mellie? I heard you had an extended nap last night. Please let us know what Dr. Adams says today,” pleaded Uncle Friedrich.
“Why am I not surprised Dad told you about that? I was tired. I missed my normal nap time. But yes, I will let you know what Dr. Adams says. Love you Uncle Friedrich. Give my love to Aunt Philipa and everyone else. I’ll call you after my exam,” I promised him as I tried to end the conversation.
“You’d better. I’d hate for Vladimir to get his dander up again and fly over there just to bring you over here to watch over you. And you know he’d do it too,” advised Uncle Friedrich.
“I know he’d do it. I’ll call Uncle Vladimir later as well. Please tell him I’m going to see Dr. Adams in about twenty minutes. I have to eat breakfast first. Okay?” I announced to Uncle Friedrich.
“Okay. I will tell him after you eat breakfast, you will go see Dr. Adams. Then, you will call him and tell him what the doctor says. If he doesn’t hear from you within an hour and a half you know he will be calling you back. He’s worried about you Mellie,” shared Uncle Friedrich.
“I know, I know. Let me go so I can eat my breakfast and go to the doctor. I promise to behave,” I promised Uncle Friedrich.
“Good. Talk to you later,” exclaimed Uncle Friedrich before he hung up the phone.
Good gracious. My family, what would I do without them? They do worry about me. Sometimes I wonder if they worry too much. I finished getting dressed so I could go downstairs for breakfast. Mom and Dad were already there in the kitchen waiting for us. Mom had breakfast on the table waiting for us.
“Good morning Mellie. How are you feeling today?” inquired Dad as he watched me walk into the kitchen.
“Good morning Mom and Dad. I’m doing good. I just got off the phone with Uncle Friedrich. He told me the news about Doyle Kessler but I don’t have to tell you now do I? Thank you Mom for making breakfast,” I thanked her as I sat down to eat.
“You’re welcome, Mellie. I knew you needed to eat before you saw Dr. Adams this morning. Do you mind if I tag along with you? I want to make sure you’re taken care of,” asked Mom nonchalantly.
“No, not at all. I’d be more than happy for you to come Mom. In fact, this might help to put your mind at ease. I’m sorry if I scared you yesterday by sleeping for a long time. It wasn’t my intention,” I pleaded with my Mom.
“It’s alright Mellie. I know you didn’t mean to. I just want to make sure you’re okay. I love you very much,” exclaimed Mom as she hugged me.
After breakfast, we made our way to the pack hospital for my follow-up appointment with Dr. Adams. It went as I suspected it would. I was doing just fine. I was just tired yesterday. After all, I am four months pregnant and I do need to take naps in the afternoon. Yesterday, we had the delivery of my nephew which caused me to delay my afternoon nap.
After the appointment, I went to the pack house to my office to begin my work for the day. I was greeted by Alpha Richard who was glad that I was cleared for light duties by Dr. Adams. He had snacks sent to my office so that the baby boy would be fed and taken care of. To say that I am being spoiled by everyone is an understatement.
