Chapter: Eighty-Four

Book:Delta's Rejected Daughter Published:2025-2-19

Anthony immediately stood up when I entered the dining room carrying our plates. He took the plates from me and placed them on the table so he could hold my chair out for me-ever the gentleman. I think he wanted to make up for the fact he laughed at the expression on my face. I’ll give him that.
The rest of the dinner went by without any problems. I fed him his dinner and he fed me my dinner. Then it came time for dessert. I went into the kitchen once again. As I approached the dining room, I told him to close his eyes. When I placed his plate in front of him and sat down, his eyes were still closed. I spooned up a spoonful of goodness and commanded him to open his mouth.
He wasn’t expecting the flavors that hit his mouth. He moaned when they hit his taste buds.
“Mmm. This is sssooo good. How did you know that I love apple pie with vanilla ice cream?” inquired Anthony to me with a silly grin on his face.
“Your Grandmother told me silly. She told me that when she got home she would send me her recipe for Apple Pie so I could make it for you every now and then. Would you like that?” I asked him as I swooped in for a kiss.
“Yes, I would like that. I like everything you do for me,” cooed Anthony after he released me from his kiss.
“I’m glad you like it. I’m trying new things just for you,” I revealed as we finished eating our dessert.
When we finished eating, we made our way into the kitchen to clean up. Once we were done, Anthony captured me between the sink and the dishwasher. He started his sensual assault on my neck, and then he spun me around to kiss me softly and then passionately. While we were kissing, our hands roamed each other’s bodies.
Before I knew it, Anthony had picked me up, bridal style to carry me upstairs to our bedroom. Oh, the joy I get when my hands get to roam all over my mate’s body. The dips and curves of the muscles on his chest-the sensation it sends to my brain on down to my toes and back up to my core. Hubba hubba.
We spent the night pleasuring each other. We made sure each other knew just how much we loved each other. I love my mate.
________
The next few days flew by in a blur. We were slowly getting back to our normal routine in the pack. I was still on limited duties but I was allowed to work from home with the assistance of my Mother. She made sure I had my meals and snacks. I still performed my duties for the pack but also I performed my duties for my job. I teleconferenced with Allison to get caught up on what I’ve missed at work. She’s a wonderful assistant who is more than willing to assist me in any way I need her to.
Everyone is settling back down into our normal routines. We heard from Uncle Friedrich that everything was back on track for Sophia’s coronation in three and a half months. Everyone was starting to get excited.
We had a few leads on Doyle Kessler that we were following up on. Clark Downey had been dealt with by Alpha King Matthew. Because he had conspired with Doyle Kessler, he had been charged with Conspiring to kill a ranked Wolf and Conspiring to Kidnap a ranked Wolf. Those alone would get him the death penalty if he was found guilty. I’m glad I was not the one who had to decide his fate.
Anyway, we are still settling into our daily routine. I still have not been allowed to leave Pack Lands because of my pregnancy. Alpha Richard says he doesn’t want anything to happen to me while I am at work so I telecommute to work. I talk with Allison and Benedict on a regular basis via the computer and know everything that is going on in my department.
Gamma Jacob did some research into Anthony’s parent’s former pack-The Nowland Pack. The Nowland Pack was all but slaughtered by rogues when Anthony was 11 years old except for a few children that were able to remain hidden. Anthony being one of them. His parents were the pack’s Deltas. Thank you Gamma Jacob for solving the mystery of why my wolf was slightly bigger than before.
As the weeks turned into months, my son grew stronger and bigger in the womb. Dr. Adams was very happy with my health and the baby’s. I’m just glad that it appears I will carry him to full term. Rebecca is due any day now. I can’t wait and neither can Daniel.
Our nursery is complete. We have everything ready for our new arrival. We’ve talked about names for our son and decided to name him after his father, Austin Henry Harrison II. We haven’t told anyone yet but we thought this would be a good way to honor his father’s memory.
Every once in a while, we get a Doyle Kessler sighting. Today, we saw Doyle Kessler in the Southern California region. We asked the local packs to keep a lookout for him. We also sent a surveillance team, of wolves, to search for him just in case he decided to slip into Mexico through the desert.
It was just after lunch when Daniel sent word that Rebecca had gone into labor. We were all excited about having a new addition to our family. Mom and Dad were finally going to meet their first Grandson. Danny and Rebecca hadn’t announced his name yet just like we hadn’t announced our son’s name. We all met up at the pack hospital to see what Danny needed us to do for him and Rebecca.
“Danny! Hey, what do you need us to do for you?” I exclaimed as I hugged him tightly in the hallway outside Rebecca’s room.
“Nothing. I don’t need anything right now. Rebecca is doing great and so far so is the baby. I need to get back in there. I just wanted to let you know that Dr. Adams says it won’t be long now. Love you, all of you,” Danny gushed as he quickly hugged us all before he went back into the room.
“Let’s make ourselves comfortable out here. We have to stay out here until they allow us into the room. Does anyone need anything to drink or eat?” asked Dad to all of us assembled.
We all replied, “No” in a discombobulated manner.
While we waited for news of my new nephew, I received a text from Captain Stewart stating that a member of the family had successfully infiltrated the surveilled family’s inner circle. They would keep a close watch on her and the rest of the family. He just wanted to keep me in the ‘loop.’ I sent him back a thank you and showed the text to my Dad who only grinned. Their hard work was finally paying off.
After sitting in the waiting room for over an hour, I needed to move around. I asked Anthony if he wouldn’t mind taking a short walk with me. My stomach also decided to growl at that time which elicited a couple of chuckles from my Dad and Anthony.
“I think we need to get you a snack on our walk my love,” chuckled Anthony as he caressed our baby as he kissed my lips.
“Yes, that would be advisable my love. Our son is hungry and wants to be fed again,” I sighed as Anthony gently held me.
“Then, let us go get you something to eat,” cooed Anthony with a goofy grin on his face.
“Yes, let us go. Mom, Dad, do you want us to bring you back anything to eat?” I inquired as I looked at them.
“No, we’re fine Melanie. Go, feed our Grandson,” chuckled Dad. “We’ll update you on Rebecca if anything happens here. Go, we’re fine here.”
“Okay, we’ll be back soon,” I stated as Anthony led me down the hallway.
We walked out of the pack hospital and went to the pack house in search of food. We went to the kitchen where Allison was in the process of cooking. When she saw us, she smiled and greeted us.
“Deltas Melanie and Anthony. What a surprise. How are you doing today? Are you hungry? I have snacks and food ready for you if you are,” she stated happily.
“As a matter of fact, yes I am. The baby wants food and now. Whatcha got available Allison?” I inquired with a gleam in my eye.
Allison didn’t disappoint us in the least. She started laying out food on the counter. It was a feast. “Help yourself Deltas. Here are some plates and utensils. When you are finished, take some to your parents, Daniel, and Rebecca. I know they will be getting hungry soon,” declared Allison with a hint of mischief in her eyes.
“We will do so. Thank you, Allison,” I replied to her. After eating my fill, I started filling containers with food to take back to the pack hospital for everybody. We took five containers of food back to the hospital with us along with plates and utensils for them.
By the time we got back, Dad announced that Rebecca had already given birth to her son and they were in the process of cleaning them up. I was so happy for the both of them. We waited for another ten minutes before we were allowed to go in to meet our newest family member.
Daniel and Rebecca introduced us to Hunter Troy Miller, their son who weighed a hefty 6 lbs. 7 oz. Wow. That is indeed a healthy baby boy. We all congratulated them and got to hold Hunter. He was so adorable. We also shared the food from Allison. Rebecca was very hungry after going without lunch since she was you know giving birth to her son.
All in all, it was a great day for the Miller family. We have the newest member of our family born-Hunter Troy. He was named after our great-grandfather and our father. What a way to honor our family fathers.
