Chapter Eighty-One

Book:Delta's Rejected Daughter Published:2025-2-19

Mom was so happy to see me at breakfast I didn’t want to ruin her mood. Seeing Mom this happy made me happy. When we all sat down for breakfast, I wanted to run a few things by Dad and Uncle Vladimir before I had Anthony take me to the hospital. I knew that was going to be my next stop.
“Dad, Uncle Vladimir, I wanted to get your take on something this morning,” I announced as I slowly ate my breakfast.
“Okay, what’s on your mind Mellie?” inquired Uncle Vladimir.
“Sure, what’s up?” asked Dad with a smirk on his face.
“Since all Michael has been officially stripped of his title, wouldn’t it be wise for him to be transported to Europe to stand trial for his crimes? There are still too many wildcards here-I trust the Brookwood packs warriors, the Elite Force, and the European warriors, but we still have Doyle Kessler at large. I don’t trust him not to make another play. I would feel more secure knowing he was safely tucked far away from him,” I concluded as I watched them to gauge their reaction.
“Well, you make a good point, but we’ve already moved him to Europe. We moved him two hours after he was stripped of his title,” Uncle Vladimir announced with a straight face.
“Wow, okay, one issue is taken care of,” I noted with a soft sigh.
“What was the other thing, Mellie?” Uncle Vladimir inquired with a smirk. “Next thing you’ll be asking us to hold the trial for your assault, feticide, and everything else until after you have the baby.”
“That was exactly what I was going to talk to you about. I didn’t want to add more stress to me while I was still pregnant,” I tried to explain my train of thought to everyone present.
“Well, I explained to the Council that having the trial while you were still pregnant would not be good for you or the baby especially since you are experiencing difficulties. They agreed with us. Is there anything else I can assist you with my dear niece?” chuckled Uncle Vladimir.
“Um … no, there isn’t. Those were my main concerns that I wanted to talk with you this morning. Thank you for telling me Uncle Vladimir,” I stated as I held my head up with my hand.
“Melanie, what’s the matter? How’s your head feeling this morning? Do you have a headache?” speculated Dad as he looked at me with worry all over his face.
“Yes, the more I move around, the more my energy level is drained and my head hurts. Anthony already told me that he would take me to see Dr. Adams after breakfast. I was going to let you know that after breakfast. But I seem to be fading quickly,” I revealed as Anthony quickly placed me on his lap.
“Don’t worry my love, I’ve got you. Do you want any more to eat?” asked Anthony softly as he gazed into my eyes.
“No, my love. I don’t think I can eat any more right now. Mom, breakfast was good, but I can’t eat any more right now. I’m sorry,” I softly stated against Anthony’s chest.
“Don’t worry about a thing my baby girl. I’ll bring you some Chicken Noodle Soup later, crackers, and Ginger Ale,” advised Mom as she came over to hug me.
“Thanks, Mom. Love you,” I mumbled before my eyes closed. ‘I’m having a hard time keeping my eyes open. It hurts to have them open. I’m sorry everyone,’ I stated in our family link.
“It’s okay Mellie. We’re taking you to see Dr. Adams right now. Just keep your eyes closed and relax,” cooed Anthony as he carried me out the door to the awaiting car.
Anthony, Dad, and Uncle Vladimir took me to the pack hospital. Dad had already apprised Alpha Richard of my migraine and that we were on the way to the hospital. Alpha Richard then apprised both Alpha Kings and Councils of the news. Dr. Adams was waiting for us when we arrived. I was taken immediately into an exam room for treatment of my migraine.
Since I was pregnant, finding the right migraine solution was a tricky situation. He tried what worked the last time in hopes it would work this time first. Within an hour of trying the first treatment, it was determined that it was not working this time. He had to try something else.
After trying the second treatment, both Alpha Kings and Councils congregated outside my exam room in hopes of seeing me. They all wanted to talk to me-about what-I have no idea. Couldn’t it wait people-I mean really.
Dad allowed everyone into the room. My head was throbbing and I couldn’t care less about visitors today. Uncle Friedrich was the first one to say something to me.
“Delta Melanie, we heard you had another migraine. How are you feeling right now?” he softly asked as he approached the bed I was lying in.
“She’s not doing better. In fact, her migraine has progressively gotten worse. She can’t hold her head up and it hurts for her to have her eyes open,” Anthony answered softly for me.
“I am so sorry to hear that. What can I do for you?” Uncle Friedrich softly inquired of me.
“I’m not sure what anyone can do for me right now Alpha King. They just have to find the right combination of medicines that will work against the headache. I know all of you wanted to talk to me. What can I do for all of you? I will try to assist you however I can while I still have the energy today” I advised them.
“The U. S. Council needed to talk to you concerning the report you sent over on Elder Lee,” explained Elder Hawkins.
“Now wait a minute, what do you mean! What kind of report did she submit on me?!” bellowed Elder Lee to everyone in the room.
“Elder Lee. You will keep your voice down in this room today,” growled Alpha King Matthew. “Delta Melanie has a migraine and cannot handle loud noises of any kind.
No one noticed that I had become unconscious at that point, not even Anthony.
“Melanie? Melanie?! Answer me …” pleaded a panicked Anthony as he tried to wake me up.
Everyone stopped what they were doing and just looked at me. Elder Hawkins turned to Elder Lee and declared, “You were warned before you entered this room not to raise your voice. We all were and yet you dared to bellow out your anger toward her. You have no right. She submitted a report based on what I asked her to look into per Alpha King Matthew’s request. Nothing more.”
“It’s easy to say, it has everything to do with the Transport Debacle of Michael,” declared Alpha King Matthew.
Dr. Adams came rushing into the room to check on me. He came in along with Alpha Richard to make sure everything was alright. Alpha Richard didn’t know what to expect since Dad sent out an alarm that I had fallen unconscious due to the ruckus in my room.
At that moment, a bright light stunned everyone. Everyone froze where they were in place-they were unable to move or say anything. A woman wearing a white flowing gown appeared from the corner of the room. She was absolutely beautiful. Everyone instantly knew who she was-She was the Moon Goddess.
Everyone fell to their knees instantly. “Rise,” commanded the Moon Goddess. She made her way over to me lying on the bed. She looked down at me and sighed. “Why must you continue to suffer from other’s misdeeds?” she mused out loud more to herself than to anyone in particular.
She turned to face everyone in the room. She then returned her focus to me lying on the bed. She pulled the covers down to reveal just me in my pajamas. I had brought my own pajamas to wear because I despise hospital gowns. The Moon Goddess chuckled at my pajamas. She simply pulled my top up and bottoms down to reveal the abdomen wound still in existence which was still a purple-bluish color. She moved her hand across the wound and it disappeared. When she was finished, she fixed my pajamas.
The Moon Goddess then gently let her left hand caress my baby bump and then she kissed my forehead. I still did not wake up but the message was clear. She was blessing me and the baby.
“Dutchess Melanie will wake up tomorrow shortly before noon feeling much better. More like her old self. Her wolf needs some extra rest since she has done an excellent job protecting her son all this time,” announced the Moon Goddess.
Everyone was astonished that the Moon Goddess had announced that she was having a boy and when she would wake up. They all have an incredulous look on their faces.
“Alpha King Matthew, I believe we have some unfinished business-you and I. Let’s get to it, shall we?” demanded the Moon Goddess.
“Yes, Moon Goddess. I believe it involves Elder Lee does it not?” inquired King Matthew.
“I believe it does,” replied the Moon Goddess.
“Elder Lee. I had Elder Hawkins ask Delta Melanie to investigate you pertaining to a serious matter. You were the person behind the Death Contract of Delta Troy and the Kidnapping Contract of Delta Heir Melanie. Delta Melanie not only found evidence supporting this but found the money trail as well. In addition, Delta Melanie found evidence to prove your guilt in the conspiracy in the escape of then ‘Prince’ Michael,” declared Alpha King Matthew to everyone in the room.
“How … she couldn’t have … I … who helped her?” demanded Elder Lee.
“All the evidence will be presented at the appropriate time. You have two choices available to you. Option 1-You can quietly retire and vacate your position as Elder. We will relocate you to a private location of our choosing where you will live out the remainder of your life. Option 2-You will be charged with Treason, murder (the deaths of the guards on the transport), attempted murder of Delta Troy, and the kidnapping of Delta Melanie. And you will be tried publicly. Those are your two options. Which will it be? You have ten seconds to choose,” commanded Alpha King Matthew.
“Knowing Delta Melanie as I do, she was very thorough in her work. I will choose Option 1. I have no choice. I must do so in order to protect my family,” declared Elder Lee.
“Elder Lee Grant, you are hereby stripped of your title of Elder of the High Council. You will hold no title higher than Omega ever again. Do you understand?” demanded Alpha King Matthew.
“Yes, Alpha King Matthew. I understand,” replied Lee Grant.
“Know this Lee Grant. You have caused many distressing events that should never have happened. When you come to me after you take your last breath on earth, you will reap your eternal benefits of pain and misery,” advised the Moon Goddess.
Lee Grant didn’t say anything to the Moon Goddess, he simply nodded in reply. What could he say? He knew he screwed up royally.
The Moon Goddess didn’t say anything else. She smiled at everyone as she faded away followed by the bright light. Again, everyone was momentarily frozen in place while they recovered from the bright light.
