Chapter: Seventy-Two

Book:Delta's Rejected Daughter Published:2025-2-19

As it turned out, the families of Prince Michael’s best friends was a bust. They all folded like a house of cards. They all gladly gave information about their children as well as any property they owned or family friends and favorite vacation spots. The parents knew their children were up to no good but to be involved in the kidnapping of a Dutchess of the European Royal Family and a Delta of a pack here in the U. S. didn’t sit right with their families.
Then when the families heard what Prince Michael did to said Dutchess they were more than happy to throw anyone and everyone under the bus. They gave up all information without any pretense of lying or misunderstanding.
Alpha King Matthew reported back to Alpha Richard at the end of the second day that those three were a dead end so to speak. But Alpha Richard informed King Matthew that Tate Windlestaff was the key. We needed to be ready-he was the insider we were looking for.
Alpha King Matthew didn’t waste any time coming back to the Brookwood Pack. Everyone had already reconvened back at Melanie’s house.
Delta Troy had just walked into the house and said, “I know where Melanie is …” when Anthony yelled out that Melanie had reached out via the link to him and was talking to him.
Everyone remained quiet and allowed us to have our conversation. Anthony told them that the doctor told them they were in Riverton, Wyoming. That confirmed what my Dad was going to tell them.
“Okay, now that we know where they are, we need to launch a rescue. Delta Troy, what resources do you have available to help. We need to contact the nearby packs to see if they are able and willing to help in the rescue after we have your resources in place Delta Troy,” declared Alpha King Matthew.
“We have the Elite Force. We can have them relocate within a matter of hours. We have several ‘forces’ if you will that are stationed around the country ready at a moment’s notice. There is one that is within three hours of there. Let me get in touch with their Commander and get the ball rolling,” announced my Dad.
“Sounds like a plan. Let’s make it happen, Delta Troy,” declared Alpha King Matthew.
“They have to give her an IV to flush out the silver poisoning. Then they have to change it out during the night. So, they have to stay put at least through the night,” explained Anthony to everyone in the room.
“Good, very good. That will work to our advantage. Let’s get the ball rolling and make it happen. Just in case he has eyes in our pack watching us, we all stay put. I don’t want anyone to tip him off. Am I clear?” Alpha Richard demanded of everyone present in the room.
“Yes Alpha,” we replied in unison.
“Good, now that that is taken care of, let’s see about some dinner. Louise, I smell something delicious coming from the kitchen. Am I correct?” teased King Friedrich to his sister.
“Why yes dear brother you do smell something delicious coming from the kitchen. Why don’t we all come into the dining room and find out what I have prepared? Maybe now, Anthony can finally eat something,” suggested my Mom in a playful manner.
Everyone went into the dining room for dinner while my Dad made the arrangements with the local Elite Force Commander.

“Fine, just set up the IV and show Tate how to change it out when it needs to be done. Will that be acceptable Dr. Jones? Then you can come by tomorrow morning say around 11 AM and check on her?” inquired a frustrated Prince Michael.
“Yes, that would definitely work. I will leave two more IV solution bags here. I want both of them to be changed out when the previous one is finished. Since she is running a fever, keep her in sheets only-no blankets. See if she will drink water or Ginger Ale and eat some crackers. Although, eating crackers will be a stretch-she’s not keeping anything down right now. She probably won’t until she breaks her fever,” explained the doctor.
“I’ll watch over her doctor. Is there a number you want me to call you at if she has any problems?” asked Tate.
“You can call me at the number I left on the bedside table if she has any problems. I think she’s going to sleep most of the night with the IV solution,” Dr. Jones explained to Tate.
“Okay, thanks doc,” Tate replied as he watched him show him how to switch out the solution bags.
I was barely conscious at this point. I could barely keep my eyes open so I closed them and drifted off into oblivion. I just wanted everything to end and be back in the arms of my mate again.
Tate got comfortable in the chair in the corner of the room. He listened to everything that was being said in the living room by Prince Michael and his cronies.
“After the doctor comes by tomorrow morning, we need to change locations. We’ve been here too long already. Where do you think we need to go next? Any suggestions?” Prince Michael asked his group.
“Why do we need to change locations? I like it here. No one bothers us. We are two hours from the nearest pack. Only humans are close to us. This place can’t be tied to any of us. We should be safe here for a while,” Xavier stated.
“True. I just thought since the doctor was here and all that we needed to move locations. I was just trying to be cautious. Can’t blame me for trying can ya?” taunted Prince Michael.
“No, but loosen up, will you? She’s sick and we can’t go very far with a sick person. She has to get better before we can travel anyway so chill out,” observed Brock.
“You’re right, as always. What’s for dinner? Who’s turn is it to cook? I’m hungry? That’s the only drawback to living out in the middle of nowhere-there is no Door Dash or UberEATS,” growled Prince Michael.
“I know right? That’s the one and only drawback to living all the way out here,” Raymond cackled. “I’ll cook. How about hamburgers or pizza?”
“Pizza sounds good,” bellowed Prince Michael.
Tate couldn’t believe these three had made it as far as they had without his guidance. It was like the blind leading the blind. Tate was waiting for the right moment to spring his trap on Prince Michael. With Melanie being as sick as she is, now would be the perfect time to spring it. They would be relaxed and would not be expecting a thing.
Tate took out his cell phone and texted his ‘girlfriend Chris.’
Tate: Hey, what are you up to tonight?
Chris: Nothing much? Why?
Tate: Was wondering if you wanted to hook up.
Chris: Sounds interesting-maybe-I’ll think about it
Tate: Let me know
Chris: Oh, I will. Trust me
Tate: Bfn
Chris: Bfn
Everything became quiet at the house after Prince Michael and his cronies went to sleep. Tate changed the IV solution out and Melanie was still knocked out. The doctor said she would be from what was in the IV solution. It’s good because she didn’t need to be awake for what was going to happen.
Shortly before 12:30 AM, the Elite Force attacked the house with a mighty force. They entered from the front and rear entrances with such surprise. They caught Prince Michael and his three friends by total surprise. They shot all three of them with tranquilizer darts and put them to sleep.
The Commander of the Elite Force, Commander Christopher Maddox made his way to the bedroom where Tate waited patiently for him to enter.
“I thought you were going to let me know if you were going to come by tonight?” Tate teased him as he shook his hand.
“I thought I would surprise you,” teased Commander “Chris’ Maddox to his friend. “How is she doing?”
“She’s still running a fever. The doctor said she would be knocked out from the IV solution. We can call and make sure it’s safe to move her. His number is on the bedside table. I just want to get her back where she belongs, with her mate, and make sure her baby is okay. She’s suffering from silver poisoning. Can you imagine what it’s doing to her baby?” wondered Tate as he gave Chris the doctor’s number.
“Dr. Jones, sorry to call you so early in the morning. I’m calling concerning your patient. I just wanted to make sure it was alright to move her. We are taking her back home to her family. I am Commander Maddox. We rescued her tonight,” explained Commander Maddox to a somewhat confused doctor.
“Very good. Thank you for looking after her. We will give her doctor your name and number to call you if they have any questions. Thank you again. Good night,” thanked a very happy Commander Maddox. “We can move her and take her home. Let’s move everyone out of this house. B Team, you know what to do. Make it happen,” ordered Commander Maddox.
Tate gently picked me up bridal style after he placed the IV solution on my stomach along with the pole. I was carefully wrapped in the sheet I was covered in by the bed. Tate took me out to the awaiting vehicle and gently placed me inside where he hung the IV bag up so it would continue to what it was supposed to do.
Commander Maddox and Tate go into the vehicle so it and others could go to the private airstrip to the awaiting private plane. We all boarded the plane and I was on my way back home once again.
