We all exited the pack house and got into our vehicles. We drove to our house. When we arrived, Danny and Rebecca were just arriving as well so we did quick introductions. Anthony’s grandparents were happy to meet Danny and Rebecca as well.
Entering the house was a treat for the senses. Mom had the house smelling like heaven on earth. Of course, she did. Mom came into the living room and was introduced to Anthony’s Grandparents. After the introductions, Mom, Rebecca, Sarah, and I went into the kitchen for women to chit-chat while Anthony, Danny, and Grandpa got their bags from the car and put them in their room.
We were all talking and getting acquainted when Mom told Me and Sarah to go into the living room with the others to relax. I protested saying this was my kitchen and I should be helping but Mom wouldn’t hear of it. In the end, she won out. We ended up in the living room with everyone else until dinner was called.
The evening was a happy evening for us all. Our extended family got bigger by two. By the end of dinner, Milo was telling stories about Anthony when he was growing up, and it had us laughing so hard that we were crying. And not to be outdone, Dad threw in some of our most embarrassing stories too. After all, what are parents good for? They are good at making sure we don’t forget how much they love us and need us and will never, ever stop embarrassing us.
Everyone was still laughing when I excused myself to go to the restroom. I went upstairs in search of some headache medicine. I didn’t want to alarm anyone just yet of my surging headache because I haven’t had one this bad since before I got my wolf. I knew Dad knew something was wrong with how he kept stealing glances my way.
I entered the master bathroom and looked into the vanity cabinet for the medicine. After I put the medicine back, I noticed someone had conveniently placed several home pregnancy tests in my vanity for me. I decided I would take one to see if I was pregnant since Anthony and I have been pretty active and have not used birth control.
While I was waiting for the results, Anderson demanded, ‘Melanie where are you? All of you need to take shelter in the safe room per Alpha’s orders.’
‘I’m using the bathroom. Do you mind, I need a little privacy. I’ll be done in a minute. Then, I’ll go into the safe room,’ I answered him annoyed to be answering him while in the bathroom.
‘Just hurry up. I’ve got everyone else in the safe room. Alpha Richard isn’t too happy that you’re not in there yet,’ announced Anderson.
I didn’t reply to him just yet. After I flushed the toilet to emphasize my point, I told him I was on my way out which made him very happy. I cleaned up the bathroom real quick and walked out into a wall better known as Anderson.
“Come on, we have trouble at the border and you need to be secured with your family,” he declared.
“Yeah, yeah. I’m coming. Geez. You’d think that a person couldn’t go to the bathroom anymore. Did you lock down the house?” I questioned him.
“Yes, Noah initiated the lockdown the moment we entered the house per Alpha’s orders. We are putting all of you in the safe room to ensure nothing happens to any of you as a precaution. Now, if you don’t mind. Please, follow me to the safe room Delta Heir Melanie,” declared Anderson.
“Lead the way Anderson. I’m right behind you. Do you think that Noah can bring up an ice pack and hand towel from downstairs for me. I have a headache. That would be lovely. Thank you,” I advised as I followed behind Anderson.
Noah met us at the safe room with an ice pack and towel. I entered the room to see everyone else only to be asked why did I have an ice pack by Anthony.
“Melanie, why do you have an ice pack? Are you okay?” inquired a worried Anthony.
Dad knowing immediately why answered for him, “How bad is your headache, Melanie?”
“I haven’t had one this bad since before I got my wolf, Dad,” I explained to him and everyone else.
“Why didn’t you say something? I could have helped you.” Anthony admonished me.
“No, my love, even with our cuddling today, it hasn’t gotten better. I took more medicine when I went to the bathroom just now. Let me sit down with the ice pack on my forehead and see if this helps, okay? If it doesn’t, then I’ll go see Dr. Adams. Sound like a plan?” I asked no one in particular.
“I think you need to go see Dr. Adams regardless. Why are you all of a sudden getting migraines again? I don’t like it,” announced my dad.
I already knew the answer to that question but I wasn’t ready to tell anyone just yet. I needed to change the subject quickly.
“Dad, what’s going on at the border? Why did we have to take cover in the safe room and lockdown the house?” I questioned him.
“Well, it seems that Doyle Kessler wanted to make his presence known. So, until the Elite Force gets here and is in place, Alpha Richard wants us to be safe. Just in case they slip through our warriors,” explained Dad.
“Okay,” I sighed as I closed my eyes with the ice pack on my forehead. Anthony sat next to me trying to comfort me as much as he could.
We fell into silence while we waited for the all clear. It didn’t come through until another thirty minutes which I needed to take the edge off of my headache. It eased enough for me to move from the safe room to my bed. I needed rest. I was able to talk my way into if I didn’t feel better by tomorrow morning, I would go see Dr. Adams.
Dad and Daniel went to check on the Elite Force to ensure they were situated while Mom did what she did best, took care of me. She put me to bed and brought me some Chamomile Tea. She made sure that Anthony and his Grandparents were taken care of. In other words, she played host for me while I stayed in bed with a headache. This was not the first impression I was going for.
Anthony explained to his Grandparents what all transpired today and they understood why I would have a headache. When Anthony came to bed, I snuggled next to him.
“My love, are you feeling better? Do you need anything” Anthony inquired as he ran his hand gently down my arm.
“No, my love I don’t need anything right now. Thank you, though, for asking. I do have something I need to talk to you about,” I said softly as I snuggled next to him.
“What can I do for you my love?” purred Anthony.
“Well, when I went to the bathroom during dinner. I had a thought as to why I had a migraine after all these years. And I was right,” I hesitated as to how to tell him I was pregnant.
“My love, are you trying to tell me that we are going to have a pup? If you are, I wouldn’t be upset, rather I’d be the opposite. Is that what you’re trying to tell me?” questioned Anthony as he looked me in the eyes.
“Yes, my love, it is. I took one of the home pregnancy tests. It was positive. You don’t think it’s too soon to have a pup?” I asked him all of a sudden very nervous about the answer.
“No, I don’t. Every pup is a blessing. I love you, Melanie. I happen to think you would make a wonderful mother,” cooed Anthony. Then, he crushed his lips to mine in a smoldering, passionate kiss.
We didn’t have sex, but we did have a steamy make-out session. I couldn’t handle much more than that. Anthony held me and comforted me as much as he could during the night. My headache had lessened during the night, but not by much. I had already decided to skip training this morning and go see Dr. Adams.
Anthony told my Dad when he reached training that I was going to see Dr. Adams today because my headache had not gotten better. He didn’t tell him why. I’m pretty sure Dad already knew why. My wolf likes to tell Daddy and Daniel everything. There are no secrets in our family. I promised I wouldn’t go see the doctor without him.
