Jessica’s POV
“Hi Jessica it’s me Collins ”
“Oh Collins, how are you?”
“Am okay, am at your cafe”
“… Okay, give me some minutes, am coming downstairs ”
I went downstairs to see him, he looked thinner not scrawny though just a little bit thin and he was fairer, I sat down in front of him,
“Hi, sorry I couldn’t come see you during the times you had issues, I wasn’t feeling fine then that’s why”
“It’s no problem, everything has been sorted out”
“What about your husband Xavier is he okay?”
“Yes he is, where have you been, it’s been a while everything ended”
“Sorry I was just not feeling okay, I had a contractable illness so I was on quarantine for those days but am fine since last two weeks but had to sit it out”
“Sorry about that, your dad was really worried about your disappearance ”
“It was so sudden I couldn’t contact them but we have reunited and I told them everything ”
“Are you sure you are okay, heard that you fell off the roof”
“Am fine, thanks for asking, I really appreciate ”
“Will you be at the office tomorrow?”
“…… Yes I will ”
“Then I will come see you tomorrow again ”

Xavier’s POV
“Well that’s really something, maybe he caught a very bad flu”
“My thoughts too but at least we know he isn’t working with them”
“We can’t be too sure but if that’s what you instinct told you then it’s okay”
“No I don’t trust him that’s why I lied about being at the office tomorrow but that’s story for another time, I just told him what I felt was it”
“It’s fine babe, now let’s sleep we have a long day ahead of us okay?”
“Mhmm, goodnight Xavier ”
“Goodnight Jessica ”
I watched as she slept, her breathing were light and even as she snuggled into my arms, I don’t know why he came to see her but I won’t let anyone or anything interrupt this peace we finally found, I will nub whatever or whoever tries it in the bud before it sprout further.
I stealthily got up not to wake her up and went to the balcony to make a call,
“Hello boss”
“Watch Collins for me, if he tries anything stupid, or is planning on trying something stupid you know what to do”
“Yes no problem ”
“Good, I don’t any repetition of last time ”
“Yes, you don’t need to worry about it”
“Good”
I ended the call and went back inside and joined her in bed, she held her close myself and fell asleep.
The next day, we woke up and packed our stuff, our driver was already waiting for us when we were done, we exchanged greetings and drove off to my airport, we did the necessary things needed and boarded my private jet, the pilots already in the cockpit, soon we took off to the air.
Jessica brought a book with her to read while I brought my laptop, I had a little work to do, it’s not much just to keep myself busy for the moment.
Soon she fell asleep and I took her to the bed and tucked her in, we will arrive soon at our destination, it’s was an eight hours journey and so far, we have spent only three hours.
I had these nagging feeling in my heart that something isn’t right somewhere, I couldn’t place my hand on it, but it was disturbing me a lot, perhaps Collins disappearance and appearance is what is messing me up, I feel like he isn’t saying the truth at all, I don’t know why but that’s my thoughts.
I closed my laptop after I had worked for a while fours hours and joined Jessica in bed, the steward will awake us when we are close to landing.
Few hours later, we were woken up and we prepared for landing, Mike had a pad built in his yard for landing that’s why I had my eyes on it but knowing him he will rather not sell it till that bet appeared and he lost it, told him he will be broke seriously if he took the path of a gambler, he will be broke and lose everything.
We got out and the driver came to take us to the manor, I know you may ask driver when you are already in the compound, well the place we landed is very very very far from the main building, ain’t no way he build a pad close to his building, the place is so big, when he lost the bet, we shared the land into two, but each of us had a sizeable portion, that’s how big it is and our building is actually far from each other.
Jessica hasn’t said anything since we landed just looking around, well this place and my grandfather manor can be really be compared except I have no man-made forest around me, that’s my grandfather’s thing not mine, I had some houses and shops built there, I also built a tall gate and fence around my place, demarcating my own place from the rest including the seaside area, I love my privacy, of course they pay rent for it, I won’t sell a dime from this land at all, it’s a huge investment and where i and my family can go for summer vacation or rest when we wanted to.
We unpacked and the maids served us dinner, I have already introduced Jessica to them as their madam and new owner, due to jet lag we retired early for the day, we have a lot of time to explore tomorrow and the next.
“This place is quite beautiful Xavier ”
“Am glad you like it”
“How did Mike even let go of these place?”
“You see these place used to be an oil mill before, but they went bankrupt and mike bought it with all his money both saving and loans, when I won the bet, we shared it into two, I paid for mine but not in full because he lost”
“That quite harsh”
“No it wasn’t, the place he has as his portion is more than enough to get him his remaining money times three, and I have gotten mine by building houses and renting them out ”
“What about him?”
“Him too”
